The one star is for the very nice man who helped me order a KitchenAid Dishwasher. He made the delivery, install and take away sound like it would be easy. A couple men from Fresno showed up late today on the scheduled afternoon. The driver greeted me at the door with"where does it go"-it was all down hill from there. Even when we told him where the elec. plug was ( under the kitchen sink) he insisted it had to be under the bar sink. 20 minutes later he finally realized we actually know where the plug is! He came up with multiple excuses and when we solved each one, including our retired (electrician) neighbor coming over, the delivery man said they had spent too much time! He was here about 30 minutes and very clueless. NOW,We will shop ONLY with independent businesses. Big box stores have no service and even worse employees with no manners or pride in their "work". Now we have to find a plumber-and we have a celebration this weekend (2days). Disgusting service and attitude. Likely everyone at the celebration will know why our new dishwasher is sitting in the middle of our kitchen and uninstalled-all of us washing the dishes by hand. Great ad for Home Depot! read more

We have been avid shoppers of home Depot across California and I have to say the Merced home Depot by far has the worst customer service, especially one woman on the elderly side with heavy eyeliner has to be one of the rudest sales people I've ever encountered. I can't imagine how she was even hired by the this company, we live in Atwater and we will be driving to Turlock or Modesto to shop at a home Depot, we will drive the extra distance to avoid shopping at this home Depot which is sad because we like home Depot but the customer service at that particular store is horrendous. read more

This place is a hit or miss, especially in customer service. Which is strange as they advertise to the diy crowd. I went to the Home Depot in Merced CA. I went straight to the paint department and asked if I gave them the paint number if they could match it. Unfortunately for me the person at the paint department was filling in until the paint person came back from lunch. I was asked if I could wait 20 minutes so then I asked if a manager was available? The manager was paged three times by the employee and this person never returned the page. I thanked the employee for her time and returned the items I was set to purchase. I drove to Lowe's spent about five dollars more but I got what I needed. Got the job done and time for the next project. So update on the flooring issue: months later (6 months to be exact), we had the flooring installation scheduled and on the day of the install, their contracting company (Romanoff) was not organized and the job was not completed. It was painful but I went to the store in person to talk to the front desk and they were really friendly and helpful. I don't fault Home Depot because after visiting the store, I realized that all of the issues are with the Romanoff folks and less so Home Depot themselves -- well, other than them partnering with a really crappy contractor. We managed to get a refund though at times, it was not a given because they wanted all of their materials back; the install guy brought some of it to our job site but some of it was missing (Aka the vinyl flooring) so he was released from the job. After many calls back and forth, it thankfully worked out for me. But I've read on the Romanoff Yelp page that this isn't always the case so be warned because any flooring installation you pick is going to be completed by them. I gave 4 stars this follow up because the Home Depot staff was helpful and they were able to come up with a resolution that didn't leave me stranded and out of my full payment. We hired Home Depot to remodel our kitchen. Most of the separate contractors were very nice but the job hasn't been completed yet. It's been about two months now since they started and there are many problems with the remodel. Where do I start? The tile is not done properly. The pantry doors are supposed to be replaced due to strange holes on both sides. A part of the molding needs to be replaced with one piece not two. The drawers in front of the sink didn't fit because I wanted a white sink, not the stainless steel one they had delivered. Well I got my white quartz sink but the drawers in front had to be removed because of the hinges. They were to large. Now the drawers are sitting in a corner waiting for Home Depot to send out a contractor to either glue them on or possibly something else. We were informed that it could take up to 14 weeks to come finish or correct the issues I have stated in this review. All we get when trying to contact them is the run around. I would not recommend Home Depot for any remodeling projects. I have pics that I can share later on. After writing this review I'm to tired to post them now. So I drove down here from Mariposa to purchase 3 space heaters for the upcoming winter. I had one particular that I wanted. I looked them up on the app and saw they had 10 of them in stock, perfect. Once i got there i noticed that they were no where to be found. I asked a worker about it and informed him I had driven an hour down just for those he informed me they're still on a pallet in the back and not yet taken down, I asked if he could do so and the response I got was "Wait right here". So i did, for over 30 minutes. And not a single other worker asked if I needed help. So I ended up leaving my cart with all my other items there and left, luckily this provided me the time I needed to to download the Lowes app, create and account, and discover that they had the same space heater I was looking for but $40 cheaper per unit. Should have gone there to begin with because I was in and out of their store in less than 5 minutes with what I needed. read more

I love Home Dept. However this one location needs some assistance. I am from out of town and was in town helping my son move as he is a UC Merced student and was surprised to experience this stores lack of consistency with the Home adept brand. A couple of things I noticed. 1. many items with no price point. 2.needed help in the tool dept and no one working to help. 3. wanted to buy a Ring but employee was unaware of stock inventory due to missing tags. 4. employee acted like we were going to run off with item. I would suggest management address price point with Met team Manager... inspect what you expect. Also, I understand this store is not in the best neighborhood however treat your customers with respect and service until you have a customer not deserve it. So I'm not a fan of big box stores, BUT there are not a whole lot of options in Merced, and I'm a home-owner trying to fix my place up a bit. Here's the deal: Lowe's is WAY more conveniently located, so we end up going there a lot. However, when making big purchases, we've gone to both places, and at Home Depot, I can vouch for... Haywood. He works in the appliance department, and he is a friendly guy who knows his stuff. Also, I have found that the employees at Lowe's (at least here in Merced) appear to be less knowledgable, less eager to help customers, etc etc. Of course, there is one stand-out employee over there, but overall, I tend to see employees congregate at Lowe's, ignoring the customer asking for help, and even giving the wrong advice!!!! Also, every once and a while, Home Depot sells floor model stuff on HUGE sales-- great way to score a cute lamp or ceiling fan!! read more

Okay, so 24 hours later, I need to update this review. Other than my frustration with the automated telephone system, I am 100% satisfied with this purchase. The manager of the Home Depot in Merced, Caesar, called me yesterday and allowed me to vent about the telephone system. Big points for stepping up and calling me the same day. Today the refrigerator was delivered on time and damage free by a professional delivery team. Milton and Juan were polite and did the installation without any fuss. They delivered the fridge early in the time frame I was given and called me 20 minutes beforehand. Nice recovery Home Depot. read more

This was my 1st experience using the "buy online and pickup at store" feature on the Home Depot website. Bought a patio door online. When the contractor I designated to pick it up went to get it, the screen door had a small dent and a couple scuff/scratch marks on it. They told the contractor it was the last and only door in stock, and that I could get a new screen when more doors came in. They wrote a note on my receipt with the contact as Tonya ext 130 (mill works dept mgr). I called immediately when he arrived with the damaged screen. I waited on hold for 9 minutes on my phone timer. Tonya said she would check for an upgraded screen in stock that would be compatible. She called me back and said "some doors just came in" and that there was a new screen "in the back" ready to be picked up- that I should send the contractor back over to get it..... So much time wasted because they tried to pawn off a damaged product on us...... And I will be charged by the contractor for his time, so I'm out another $60 thanks to the low standards and poor customer service experienced today at the Merced Home Depot. 1st Tonya said it would be 2 weeks until more came in, but when she called me back she had one in stock now. We had to take the damaged screen off of the door, take it back over to the store, wait, explain, wait some more, and finally swap it out. Some kind of apology would have been appropriate, although not one sorry, nothing. What a hassle and waste of time. And costs me more money! read more

This is in the bad part of town. Like another reviewer, I had a mess of a run-in while in the men's restroom with a guy who looked down on his luck (I am assuming this) as he was completely naked, smelly and farting in the bathroom while talking loudly to himself. I am just glad he ignored me as I was urinating and I took off, with barely enough time to wash my hands before he started on another rant really loudly. This is a Home Depot- so expect what you can from their giant chain. The folks here are really nice and helpful for sure, I appreciate that highly- but the exterior parking lot is a breeding ground for a Walking Dead scene and the surrounding area is probably not safe at night. read more

I asked your employee named Cyndi for some help looking for door knobs and she was SUPER rude. Did not want to help look around for what we needed even after we were very clear as to what we were looking for. She was laughing at us for asking and said that all that they had was on the floor, so I told her if she didn't want to help us to leave. Thanked her for not helping and told her to leave. You can't find people to help, their attitudes at the check out are nowhere near even good customer service, and after tonight, we aren't going back. We've had nothing but bad service in every department! Flooring and nursery specifically and Home Depot people should load heavy stuff but NOPE, WE can load the 10 bags of ROCK we just purchased because the salesgirl has called for someone twice and no one is coming. It's 6:PM. Is that too tough? Service at 6?? The #1 reason the store should load your merchandise is that if THEY drop it THEY will replace it. If YOU drop it, they don't. October 7, 2020 I am writing in regard to order #. I am in the process of remodeling my kitchen and had applied for a Home Depot credit card as well as purchased 4 pantry kitchen cabinets on 07/09/2020. After several weeks my cabinets came in, however 1 cabinet was damaged. Please see picture #1. At that point I returned the cabinet and ordered a replacement on August 15, 2020. I had requested that one be sent directly to my home, free of delivery charge since I had already paid for delivery the first time. The clerk stated this was impossible and told if I wanted it delivered I would have to pay for it. So, because my kitchen remodel was now at a stand still pending the delivery of this cabinet, I ordered another one to be delivered to the Merced, CA Home Depot. After waiting several more weeks due to the cabinet being "lost in transit", I received another call on September 10, 2020 from the Merced store saying the cabinet was in but was damaged and they were returning it. I again went in and reordered this same cabinet. At this point I had contacted Cheyenne at homedepot.com and explained the situation and my frustration over what had happened. She was very helpful and told me that once I received the new cabinet to have the help desk at the store issue a 25% credit on my credit card to compensate for my trouble. She explained that it should not be an issue because she will write it in the notes of my account and all the sales clerk at Home Depot has to do is look it up and issue the refund. On October 2, 2020 my order came in. I did exactly as Cheyenne had stated and requested the clerk at Home Depot return desk review the notes in my file and issue a refund in the amount of $123.68 which was 25% of the order total. Tulenni, the clerk at the Merced store, called her manager who stated that she was confused and didn't understand the notes that were in my account, Tulenni read the notes verbatim and attempted to explain the situation in her own words. The manager still did not understand and said that she had to contact her supervisor. Her supervisor understood the situation but said that he could only give a 15% refund, not 25%. Tulenni had to relay all messages on the phone between the supervisor and I because the supervisor was unwilling to talk to me directly on the phone or in person. I told him that I was promised 25% and was not leaving the store until I get what I was promised. He then said he could give be 20%. I still refused. After standing at the help desk for two hours negotiating with this manager, he finally agreed to refund the 25%. Obviously after spending $2000+ it was not about the money. It was the principal of the situation. I was promised a 25% refund and I should receive a 25% refund. To add insult to injury when I got the cabinet home and took it out of the box, it was again damaged. The whole top of the cabinet had been smashed in. See pictures #2-5. I'm sure you can understand my frustration. After 3 months and $2000 I have a cabinet that is nothing more than a piece of junk. I am appalled by the treatment I received from the managers at the Merced Home Depot and I am horrified that such an enormous retailer like you would produce such junk. Whether it is the fault of the delivery drivers or the employees that work in the loading dock, someone is doing a disgrace to your corporation. Needless to say, I have many projects planned for the next few months and had planned on spending my money at Home Depot for these projects. Not anymore! Your company is a disgrace to our community. I will never spend another penny in that store again and I will tell my story to whoever will listen. I am not looking nor am I expecting a response to this email because I know that a multi-million dollar corporation such as Home Deport could care less about their consumers, however I just wanted to let it be known that the way you treat your patrons is disgraceful and will not be tolerated! read more

This place has gone to the dogs. The shelves are bare of basic lumber and plywood. Many carts sit in the aisles and disarray abounds. The employees complain to me about management and each other. No knowledgeable help is available for assistance. I could go on but you get the picture. Don't waste your time just go to Turlock HD. It's much better there. read more
