Terrible customer service. I bought a laptop online with Best Buy, came with wrong charger and the store would not help. I had to return the whole laptop to be exchanged due to the charger. Best Buy offered for me to buy a new charger for $60. We were never able to start the laptop, when the geek squad used a more powerful charger the laptop started right up. MacBook Air had been running hot. Ran my own diagnostics on it and confirmed there was no hardware or software issues. Battery health was also good, pretty much checked everything off that I could and found no issues. So I believed it would then need an internal cleaning. Called and asked if that was something they could help with and they proceeded to schedule me an appointment. Great. I call before going in, day of appointment, explain that I have an appointment and what it was for and ask what the cost is for an internal cleaning for my MacBook Air because I realized I was never told previously. They then tell me "we cannot disclose the price over the phone". I go into my appointment and explain what's going on to just be told that they can't do internal cleanings on Apple devices. Not upset at anyone I met within the store. I am pissed that over TWO phone calls where I mention needing an internal cleaning on my Apple devices, no one thought to mention that's something they're not "allowed" to do. This location is and has always been decently successful with inventory. I always appreciate how helpful the staff are whether you do need help or not. Having been in this Best Buy a couple of times, I think it's not too bad but you can't depend on anyone having a lot of product knowledge. That's generally a Best Buy trait. You do your research before you enter the building. Things weren't thrown about the store but it didn't seem to have a lot of selection, partly because it's a small store. I found some music I wanted and it was on sale. The cashier was friendly and the sale price was correct. read more

I don't even know where to start but on April 26 ontrac claim to have deliver my package and didn't even bother to knock the door press ring bell or requested a signature around 1pm by the time I got home 5or 6pm package was not there. My wife was home all day with my kids and could of easily gone outside to pick up my package but she never heard a door knocked or ring. Anyways I notify best buy and worse experience of my life they had me waiting 48 to 72 hours to investigate for them to give me a refund or replacement and told me not to worries all lies later after waiting they said they are waiting for a police report but never didn't the previous person told me to file once a file a police report they told me not to worrie to wait 24 to 48 hours for an email and to wait 7 to 10 business days for the refund to process into my card. After waiting I never got an email with my refund I was told they are waiting for the cops to call them so they can get the police report I told them why are you asking me for a police report when they don't want it from me after talking to Cesar and having to explain everything all over again he said it was declined and that they shouldn't had told me this so they just wasted my time for nothing and under there eyes order was complete and there was nothing they can do. I am giving this place 1 star. I think I need to address the dishonesty of the customer service Returns & Exchange department at Best Buy. First of all, they do not honor the Holiday Return and Exchange program. We wanted to return our TV and possibly exchange it for a bigger size. However, we could not because a spacer and screws were missing. If that were true. We had packed all accessories and components back, and they had the audacity to tamper with our parts so they did not need to restock our TV. And I know that in the exchange, even if accessories were missing we would be liable for it and had deductions to our return price. This is just towards customer service's Returns department. Purchased a laptop on their website from a third party? ...well alright...the thing kept booting me out, bought the Microsoft bundle and downloaded their virus protection. We'll called the third party as indicated, the computer was delayed twice making it past the return date. The third party wanted me to pay for return shipping. Lucky (maybe) bought the totaltech. Took the laptop back to store, now this ended up being almost a month later after delays. Was charged $23+ for virus software that came with old laptop??!! What?! I never used that laptop. Drove 40 miles twice to deal with this. Asked bestbuy to send me the same computer. Uggg ...the new one came...had no internet software!!?? What??!! Brought it in can't get refunded $23...why?? They made a geek squad appointment for 7:20pm! What a long freakn day!! Only one tech helping all the appointments, bouncing back and forth between customers. It's 8pm now waiting for them to download Internet software.... Let's go back to Amazon. No Wonder why these stores are going out of business. I'm not going to even mention the hassle returning my defective smartwatch!! No one from totaltech would come out to speak to me, they suggested... just returning the watch!! This is a good Best Buy. It's always fun in here. They let you test anything before you buy it (just as long as it is in stock). This store is always Clean, Consistent in prices of products and has courteous and helpful employees. They may not always have things in stock but they can order the item(s) for u and have it shipped to your home free of charge, or they will call you when it arrives and u can pick it up from the store. I got ordered my wife a new laptop and it arrived at our home in just 2 days. The salesman was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. He wasn't pushy on any warranties or insurance. He simply offered them and proceeded after my first decline. read more

The girl that helped us even said it seemed quiet like something was wrong with it. We are boycotting Best Buy!!! We got majorly screwed by them despite us purchasing an extended warranty on a receiver. Just to warn anyone who purchases the extended warranty they push you to get as you're checking out, they will not exchange the item for a new one, but rather will tell you they need to ship it out for repair. If it cannot be repaired, only then will they replace it, which is not what we were told when we made the purchase! They will tell you anything to get you to pay for that worthless warranty. Who wants to wait six weeks to see if something can be repaired?? Ridiculous! Oh, and by the way, when they run their "test," in the store, if they can't duplicate the problem, then it doesn't qualify to even be shipped out for repair and you're just screwed altogether! The manager was no help at all and didn't seem to care how upset we were. Her attitude was basically shrugging her shoulders and saying, "Well, it was in the Geek Squad agreement that was sent to you." We are done with Best Buy. We will never buy anything from there again, and we will tell everyone we know about the poor customer service and the fact that they rip people off. Buy your electronics there at your own risk. MERCED BEST BUY advertized GEEK SQUAD service contract to include installation of operating systems, which I knew I needed and requested because I was getting missing file notices. I paid them $200- for the service contract and was called 1 day later and told that I had to obtain the original operating system before they could install it. They knew I had no operating system before I agreed. I told 2 Geeks that I wanted my money back since They could not perform as agreed and they said, they could not return my monies because they had performed other diagnostics which I had not requested. They were adamant about NOT refunding my money, despite my NOT receiving services that I did request, on the grounds that they performed services that I DID NOT request. This is classic bait and switch fraudulent misrepresentation. Further, at that same visit, I was looking to buy a new laptop as i noticed 3 "affordable" computers online AND also displayed in the store, BUT none were "in stock." I witnessed 2 other buyers being upsold to more expensive computers while I was waiting. These two experiences caused me to make this report. Based on my information and belief the Management in MERCED BEST BUY uses misleading practices as a policy to make their revenue goals. The public should know. read more

First of all l was looking for a TV. Went into the store with my husband and nobody helped us for 20 minutes. One guy walked by and said did we need help and just kept walking. Then we got help from someone l thought was knowledgeable but we weren't ready to purchase. Went back in a week to see what the sales were and the same thing. No help. Finally hunted someone down and then we got help. Armando was great. Very helpful and honest. I wanted the sale to go to him. Went back the next day. Paid $3000 for the TV and the geek squad to come and deliver it and hook it up . Delivery was suppose to be between 12-8. We camped out waiting for the TV to be delivered. My husband called the store about 7:20 to check the delivery status. He was told we were scheduled between 12-8! No delivery....no phone call! It's 8:45 PM and no delivery! Not happy with Best Buy! But once you do you get knowledgeable, courteous service. I just made a large purchase and I asked a lot of questions and what if's. The associate that helped me was patient, and knowldgable, and answered all of my questions. Also I have to say unless you get an item on sale, you are going to see fairly high prices compared to the discount big box stores. But the quality of the item will be superior to what you get at the discount store. Before you make a purchase on a TV, computer, or other electronic item check here first. You'll discover the quality of the items is higher and worth the little extra. It's been nothing but bad experiences for anything more than a quick sale. I've called to check in stock items on just regular days of the week, to be told its ther and they will hold it for an hour.... go in 15 minutes later then find out they never even had the item!! On returns and exchanges, you can always almost forget it if it's something different than a quick unopened item return (and even then!!). I rarely buy anything I don't intend to keep and use. I had bought a video card (with cash) for a Christmas present and while in a Black Friday rush... accidentally got the wrong type for his motherboard. It was brand new and sealed and when I went to return it a few days later... they gave me a problem because it was a different type... even though the sale was the same price on both agp and pci cards for that card, they wanted to charge me $40.00 more! Their pricing in their computers was screwed up.. I had to finally get a manager who went ahead and did the exchange, 20 minutes later after trying to explain the only difference was the type! A couple months back I couldn't return an unopened, sealed video game because I didn't have the card used to purchase it. It was a gift from someone who lives out of the area, I didn't have a gift receipt but come on. I was exchanging it for a better different version of the item and paying the difference. I can understand some store policies.... The main issue was I had called prior to talk to an associate there. She had spoken to the manager and I was told that I could exchange it, etc... Of course when I went in this wasn't the case. The manager had the nerve to even raise his voice even though I was being polite, calm and professional. He was extremely rude, condescending and unprofessional and he even walked off in the middle of the conversation. That's not even the end of it. I normally don't like shopping for anything big here, but if it's quick, a good steal for the price or something to that effect it's about the same as any store. There have been plenty of nice employees... I even called their managers to let them know how great they were.. but many of them have been bad apples and really have no idea of what they are talking about. Most times I do my research before purchasing anything so that isn't the big deal. When they can't locate an item that is in stock and aren't willing to look for it.. or when you need help and you can see a batch of them talking at the front of the store.. There are so many discrepancies and problems here I can't count them anymore. read more

Overall my shopping experience at best buy have been great. Even though their employees tries very hard to sell, to the point where it get annoying, they are still very knowledgeable. It will be very hard to go in without being noticed, and you will be helped. All of their employees are nice, happy, and knowledgeable. The store is also extremely clean, compared to a lot of the best buy's in LA. Everything was so organized that it was extremely easy to find. However, I feel like the collection of products have decreased over the years. They also do not carry as much of a variety of products compared to other best buy.
