Took my computer in to make it Windows 11 compatible and move some older programs over to make them work with the upgrade. Was talked into buying a "New Business Build" with windows 11 and compatibility installed for older programs. Was left with 2 unusable computers for my business. When I return to the store I was told after all the problems, "We don't handle software problems.... I was under the impression Action Computer fixed computer problems, I guess that is not their job. And when I asked to speak to he owner or manager the employees refused to give me his phone number! read more

They stole my brand new $100 computer piece and said it didn't work, they wouldn't give me my "old piece" either, I'm pretty sure they never put my new computer piece and just kept the new piece for themselves!!! I have a very strong gut feeling this place isn't good. read more

had my computer for over a week to remove a virus. I called three days after they got my but left a message and no one called me back. I called two days later which was a week since I took it in. They said they would finish up on it and call me back late Friday. They never called back. I went in Monday. They said my computer was ready. I took it home started it up and still had the same problem. Their service is terrible. Their customer service is even worse. Would not recommend them to anyone. read more

Terrible service. Low knowledgeability. Incredibly slow. One of the absolute worst places to get your computer fixed. They don't care about your timeline. They don't care about your device. They don't care about your data. They are incredibly unprofessional. You will either get your computer back fixed in 3x the timeline THEY SET, or get it back unfixed after a week. DO NOT SEND YOUR COMPUTER HERE. read more

I guess this is the best that Merced can do. Best Buy is closed and living in Atwater Staples is too far to be convenient. Took my comp in to have the power supply upgraded for a video card on a Thursday morning. They have the worst hours so the only time I can do it is on my way to work. I get a call shortly after dropping it off but I'm driving so no voicemail so I don't think much of it. Maybe it took a second to log in, who knows. They didn't say anything so why would I think it was a problem? I call back later that evening for the guy to tell me that the power supply I brought it wouldn't work, it wasn't compatible with the brand of computer I had. I have to buy one of their power supplies. Come in the next morning just after 8am to find out they are still working on my comp and will be later that evening. I work until 6pm which is after they close. I have to wait until Monday to pick my computer up... All weekend without the computer... Monday morning I come by and they say it is working great but the CD-Rom isn't powered. I tell that was one of the reasons I came to them, why couldn't they tell me that over the phone. They now have to uninstall the power supply and I went 5 days without a computer and still paid for the work they did, which accomplished nothing. Forty bucks for nothing, absolutely never again read more

Ehh considering the pandemic, the prices here were at scalpers level so no thanks. 1600 for a 3060. I rather just buy a prebuilt for that price on newegg lol read more

The staff is great. Tried to help over the phone when with my issue but when that didn't work they promptly diagnosed the issue with my computer and was able to replace the dead SSD. read more

I purchased a refurbished computer from Action Computers a few months ago and the hard drive crashed... this place is a JOKE!!!!!! I took it in and she said it would take 2 weeks to have it checked in and looked at. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! do not purchase from them!!! read more

Action Computers is by far the best place in Merced County to have your computer worked on. Their prices seem fair for the service that your receive. I have taken my computer there and had all spyware removed (my wife was happy!) and when my hard drive crashed they were able to recover all my data (amazing). When I went to replace my old computer, I had them custom build me a new one with top of the line parts. That is a cool process if you are into that kind of thing. Overall, as a customer, I am happy with the service they provide and I feel like I get my money's worth. Highly Recommended. BTW...Linda P review doesn't even make sense... read more

I haven't had my computer repaired here, but I did enter the shop one time looking for a part I needed. The staff were friendly, and informed me they did not have what I needed. They offered to order it, but informed me I could find what I needed at Best Buy without the wait. I appreciated their honesty and friendly service. read more

What a terrible way to run your business! I scheduled an appointment with whom I found out was the manager, to have cameras installed in my house. I call to verify what time they will be here, and Justin, the manager, proceeds to tell me he never scheduled an appnt. Well he called me personally over a week ago to set the install time. What a sad way to run a business. Then to really care less that you have an upset customer? not good! Well I will never spend a penny there, and I will be sure to tell all my friends and family to not do business there. Poor business practices Justin! read more

This is definitely a five star local business. The people here are kind friendly and ready to help and answer most questions and fix most repairs promptly. I was notified when my part came in and the young man behind the counter really knows how to do customer service right I will always be recommending action computers to my friends family and coworkers because of the fact that they do have great customer service. I've always enjoyed taking my computers here because of the fact that my grandfather always took his machines here to get them repaired or upgraded. read more

Action Computers - Live at the shop - IT Services & Computer Repair Near Me - Merced, California

I took my "intermittently flakey" laptop to Action Computers after it crashed from a recent Windows 10 Update moment. The computer wouldn't even "pickup" by using F4 while booting. Action Computer called back a couple days later and indicated that they also found intermittent problems on the computer and traced it to a defective hard drive. A day later I picked up the Laptop now working with a new hard drive. I've discovered that it now works perfectly without the frustrating odd problems that I had previously blamed Windows 8.0, 8.1 & 10. I'm really happy to have the device back in 1st class shape and the price for the repair was reasonable. read more

Gary S. from Atwater First I'm not a Techy and impatient when it comes to issues with my phone, computer etc. My computer was having issues so I brought in to find out what was wrong and what needed to fix it. Long story short they repaired my computer and this is why Action Computers is way ahead of who ever is in second place. They talked to me not at me, they discussed my computer issues in a way I understood and the best way to go forward. I had some issues after picking up my computer due to some much need updates and their staff was kind and patient and walked me thru the issues. Bottom line is don't hesitate whether you should or should't see Action Computer for your computer issues, their staff will provide the quality service and support required to make you one "Happy Customer". read more

I love having the opportunity to review a business when they are doing a fabulous job and Action Computers is. I was pretty sure my crappy computer was toast but an AC technician was able to figure out that we had a bad power supply. $50 later and my computer that I was sure I was going to have to replace since it was blue screening is back up and running. I think the person who helped me was named Rob, great customer service and skilled technicians! read more

When it comes to buying a computer or having one worked on, I will always choose action computers. The owner is a great person and has the inegrity it takes to not only run a business but keep it running. I bought a computer in 2005 and it's still as fast when surfing the web as some of the newer big box store computers. The reason is simple. Action computers build a computer that fits you and your lifestyle. The big box stores just build a generic computer that fits everyone. But there computers can't keep up with the times and are quicly left behind by advances in technology. I was able to upgrade my cp therefore saving me from having to buy another genric new cp. Give action computers a call. Let them build you a custom cp that fits you and grows with you. read more

i took my 2010 toshiba laptop in 8-10-12 to diagnosis why it's not booting up. the counter person told me will take about 2-3 day to find out what wrong with it. 2 week later, they havn't even work on my laptop. they say just a couple more day they will get to it. i took my laptop and left. NEVER take your pc or laptop to this place to fix it, it will take forever for you pc to be fix. they even have a policy that if the pc is in their shop for 30 day, they have the right to keep it. read more

I needed my laptop screen repaired a few years ago. Took it in and was told that it might take a week and a half, tops. I called at the time I was told to call and was told they needed more time. I went in and spoke to one of the techs. He told me they'd had my laptop for nine days and were just getting to it that day! Some excuse that they were busy or something. I expressed my concern and they apologized and promised a week, no more. They ordered the screen. It took a week to get in and was not the correct size. I had to wait a total of three weeks for a one week job! To add insult to injury, the owner of the shop, don't remember his name right now because it was a few years ago, looks at my business debit card and says he will not accept it because he didn't "recognize the name of the business." He was just being a jerk! By this time, I had had enough. He eventually accepted the payment, but I had to threaten to call the police before he did. I have read mixed reviews of this establishment, and if you have a good experience with these folks, good for you! Personally, I did not, and I have friends in the tech industry who told me that they were not surprised that had this experience. It was a nightmare. I hope they have improved since the time I dealt with them. read more

We were traveling and away from home when our laptop "died". We found Action Computers in the phone book and went in. It was vital that our computer be repaired that day. We were amazed at the speed with which they fixed it. AND they were so nice It's wonderful to see a business that is honest and knows what they are doing. Thanks AC. If we ever return to the area, we will say hi. read more

The technicians here are CROOKS. DO NOT TAKE YOUR COMPUTER IN HERE! I took my computer in here in November of 2008 for repair. Picked it up 3 weeks later. Seemed to be running fine. Few months later I moved and it started acting up again. This time saying I'm running low on disk space. I've got a Dell 2002 desktop with a 40gb hard drive. I can't be low in disk space because I hardly had any program's running on it. Anyway I took it in to a computer place by my husbands work in Watsonville. They called me up and told me that I needed to replace my 20gb clone hard drive. And that i had 2 operating systems running on it at the same time!! I told them that my computer has a 40 gb Dell hard drive on it WTF. Nobody else has ever worked on that computer but Action Computers in Merced CA. Come to find out Action computers stole my original hard drive and replaced it with a clone half the size. DO NOT TAKE YOUR COMPUTER IN THERE!!! They will rip you off. read more

My computer screen would go black and freeze up. I accidentally returned it to factory settings. So my husband said to take it in,and action computers could recover all my files, and fix it. As soon as they fixed it, I brought it home. The recovered files wouldn't open, then the computer froze up and went black. We took it back down, and the nice young man at the counter, was surprised that it froze and went black on me. He said it was working perfectly. He couldn't open the recovered files, and then it went black on him. They kept it. A few days later they called and said it was fixed. Again we went down. No one could open the recovered files, so they kept it to work on it. They backed up the recovered files on a external drive, and then returned it to factory settings. Which is the same thing I had already done. So I paid $110 for a drive to back up corrupt files that no one can open, I brought the computer home to start fresh. It was on 3 minutes, froze and went black. I am very sad. The boys working there were very kind and polite, but no one seemed to know what was going on with my computer, and just kept calling it fixed. I should have saved my $250, and just counted my losses, and put it toward a new computer. read more

Action Computers IS the way to go..! I highly recommend them not only for personal computers, but for business servers and computers as well. We are set up on an annual maintenance contract with them. They come to our office every quarter, up date any programs that need it, and make sure that our system is virus free..!! Keep up the good work guys.! read more

This place takes forever. i took my laptop here an they didn't even fix it. They probably didn't even try to look at my laptop but supposedly they replaced a wire read more

I took my laptop in about two months ago because the screen was cracked. They said they needed to open it up in order to see what exact screen was needed (for a charge of course) and then they could give me a price. Said it would be a couple days. I had to call them a week later after not hearing anything and they hadn't even started. The Next day they called to give me the price...screen was $280 for a $300+ computer. I went to a competitor which I will not mention and not only did they not charge me to open up my computer, they didn't have to open it up to tell me the screen price. Simply scanned the back without a charge and the overall price was $160 for the screen and labor. I'll never wast my time and money with these guys again. read more

Action computers is awesome. I brought my desk top in for overheating problems, and an OS upgrade that I could not get to work. The staff at action computer fixed my problems for far less than I expected, and did not try to sell me something I did not need. I will be definitely going back to action computers for any further computer problems I have. Thanks for the great service action computers! read more

Not too bad; need work on customer service. Ive managed a repair shop in san jose so know customers want, expect and deserve. NEVER let your customer have to call to check up on you. Also go for "the more contact the better." Best Buy may be more expensive but may be worth it. There are so many VERY experienced consultants in the area that could show them how to manage better... read more
