Day after getting phone back I was victim of eSIM hacker trying to take over my phone number over following 3 days I Resolved going to ATT to lock my eSIM. Maybe a coincedence? ? Being a computer technician, I thought I'd save a few bucks and bought a screen off amazon and tried to replace my iPhone 8 screen. After all, how much harder could it be to replace a phone screen than build a new computer? Quite a bit actually. It was going great until the included cheapy screwdriver I got stripped the ever-loving hell out of a screw (the one directly over the home button), and stopped me in my tracks. Here I was, 6:30 pm, with a phone rendered unusable and unfixable by my hand. I couldn't put the old screen back on, because the screw driver was ruined and I couldn't put the new screen on because a screw was ruined. The screw was absolutely decimated, resembling more of a small Allen key head than a tri wing. Panicking, I checked the cell phone doctors hours. 7 pm was closing time. I gathered up my screws, put my phone and screens in a box and had a grueling 15 minute drive over to the shop. I arrived at 15 minutes before closing with my phone in pieces as I tried to explain to the front desk what had happened. I wasn't sure if they were going to be able to get the screw out and I convinced myself it was going to be time for a new phone, or a least time for a life sans Touch ID. 12 ish minutes later, they handed me back my phone with the new screen on (with working Touch ID) and after informing me they can't warranty the screen (since I brought it in myself) I paid the $40 labor fee and left a happy customer! Shout out to the phone technician working in the back for even managing to reattach my front camera I had ripped off. I hope his official title is something like lead phone surgeon cause that would be pretty appropriate considering how bad I messed my phone up. TLDR; tried to fix phone screen myself, messed up and the cell phone doctor saved my butt. 100% recommend! read more
