OMG, so horrible. Nobody ever around to help. Nobody works in the damn department or anything. Have to catch an attitude in order for to help and then even if so still nobody really to help. In the store for over an hour and only Juan Jose in the HVAC section took the time to explain stuff to me and Singh helped me out with insulating foam I needed to purchase. If it were base on only their help I would have given them even 6 stars..they both were GREAT!!! They profiled me like crazy in this place one late Saturday afternoon. I'm moving so i needed boxes. After walking around for 10 minutes trying to find them, I found the aisle that had them. As I look for the sizes i need to load up my cart, some young woman (clerk) stands about 8 feet from me the whole time pretending she's looking at her phone. This store is the worse I have ever been in when it comes to cleanliness/neatness. Every aisle is cluttered and disorganized with carts, stock, and an overall look of mismanagement. I'm so glad it's not my usual store but I was driving by and stopped in for a few items. It is sad since I used to work across the street and loved it when it first opened years ago. From a girl in a orange apron screaming from across the aisle "get your a*s over here, I need you now" "drop what you're doing and get your a*s here now". Mind you, I'm right next to her. Ear hurts. To a guy that just stares at you when you ask a question, like he wasn't listening in the first place. To another girl talking to a customer and saying, " i don't know how to help you, you gotta speak to someone who knows" and walks away. I need to take a minute to write about what a great experience I had with Joe the store manager. I came to Home Depot to return a small Item. When the sales associate who was initially helping me had trouble with the return, I asked to speak to a store manager. That is when I met Joe. He went above and beyond to help me and explain the return policy to me. He was polite, kind and very personable. People like that are rare today especially when you are dealing with a large company. Like every Home Depot I have gone to, this one has lousy customer service -- except they go "above and beyond" to drive home just how little they care about the customer. The woman who works the flooring department could hardly be less pleasant, interested in helping, or lacking in personality. When you complain to management, the only thing that changes is your belief that maybe this store will care...but it does not. The only reason it stays afloat is because, evidently, it corners the market -- because the lack of interest in helping anyone should be enough to leave them with no customers at all. read more

Don't buy a door there! Went on-line & picked out a $500 door. Site said installation would be between $280-600. After dealing with HD in Linden, turns out installation was $1000 and my door would have to be special ordered and would cost $1,100. Mind you, I live in a standard Cape Cod - I doubt the door needed to be special ordered. Here's the kicker - they wanted 99% down payment! Who does that? After their curbside pickup sign fell on my car (thankfully no damage) it would take close to more than hour for my order to be brought out (even after a two trips to customer service). This is possibly the WORST home depot that you can go to in the area. This is the closest Home Depot to my house and anytime I go it is impossible to find help. Any staff that is in the area where you need help tells you they don't work in that department. If they call someone that does work in that department, you can wait for a very long time for them to show up. Then you have to deal with attitude as if you are interrupting their work day by asking a question. This place needs a major staff overhaul. This is by far the best Home Depot in the area. I used the Home Depot app to look for a somewhat obscure product, and saw that it was listed as available at many local stores. However, the first store I went to stated that the product was unavailable, without even looking for additional inventory. The next store had the product but some parts had been stolen, rendering it unusable. I then went to this store in Linden and they were extremely friendly and although the product was not on the shelf, they had about 4 employees looking for it for me. After waiting 15 min they asked me to leave my address because they didn't want me to have to wait longer, and within an hour delivered the product to my home (30 min away). Most friendly and helpful Home Depot employees I have ever seen. read more

After continued visits to this HD I think my initial rating was too low, and perhaps a bit unfair. I don't think they are the worst ever HD any longer. That said, I am still unhappy with the level of support, in that most of the staff do not appear to be particularly knowledgeable, but that's true of most big box places. My major gripe now with this HD is that the mundane issues such as the day to day running of the place are somewhat slipshod. Two continual problems: in the hardware, plumbing and electric bins, quite often the bin is a mess and doesn't even have what the label indicates it should have. The other is the dreaded self-service machines. For some reason Linden's machines are even worse than the usual HD nightmare. I've gone back to checking out with people as it is certainly faster than attempting that quagmire. So, overall, better than I indicated at first, but still needs some serious work, especially in the stocking and day to day management. read more

What a horrible experience! We purchased our washer over the weekend and they couldn't install it!! I wish someone at the store would have told us that we had to remove our dryer before them coming. We wouldn't know that little piece of information because Lowe's did it for us before. My husband took the day off of work and forget about customer service....they were never trained on that! I'm giving them 1 star because I have to. Who is responsible for putting in this expensive washer now? Sux!!!Sux!! Totally! do not go to home depot in linden, NJ. bad attitude of employees, lack of knowledge. Especially after 7 pm. The staff that works after 7 pm are sleepy and their brain is malfunctioning. We were there around 9 pm on week day and it took 20 min to get associate to help with choosing a lawn mower. Finally a teen looking home depot employee came trying to help. I asked him question about different models of lawn mowers and I guess I caught him off guard: he thought for two min then embarrassed mumbled he is going to get some help. We had enough and we were walking towards exit when the same guy with another employee (his help) pointed to us with fingers. We asked the new guy the same question and he answered and he seemed to be irritated on us sort of why you bothered me with such a simple questions. Anyways, I doubt I would ever go again. Save yourself the trip from going here and being treated like you are interrupting and an inconvenience. Go To Lowes where I walked in and Vanessa helped me and even said that "it was her pleasure" when I thank her for her help. I stopped to ask three Home Depot associates if they had any wood chips for a smoker. Rob answered with "Not Here". I clarified and asked "not this isle?" He stated not this store. Another associate spoke up and said that they had some up high down the isle. Rob said that that's not what I wanted. I said "yes it sounds like what I'm looking for" Talk about making a customer feel uncomfortable, the entire time Rob was getting a ladder and climbing up to see the product, he was displaying an irritated attitude even to the point where he got loud at me in front of other customers and associates telling me that that's not what I asked for. I just waited until he stormed off and went back to his two I interrupted him from, and climbed the ladder myself. Will not be back. If I can give negative stars I would!!! I went to this store because I was running errands in the area. I needed to ask about a vertical blind purchase and installation. The initial steps of the process seemed pretty easy. I pay $50 to have a technician come to my home to measure my windows and the deposit goes towards my purchase. I asked the associate several times if it were an issue since the closest home depot to me was in Lodi, NJ. He reassured me that it wasnt a problem and I can go to that location to purchase my blinds. He even said that the tech would be dispatched from my area....Needless to say at the time that I went to the Lodi store I was told that I had to go to the linden store since that's where I paid my deposit. An associate from the Lodi store went above and beyond, she called the Linden store several times and was put on hold over 30 mins each time. The Linden store initially said that I would have to come down to their store to "try" and get a refund. After countless hours at the Lodi store being assisted by an incredible employee we were able to purchase our blinds. The Linden store called my on 6/16/2014 stating that the refund was processed and I would have my refund within 24-48 hours. It is now 6/23/14 and still no refund. I had to call the store twice to inquire about my refund and both times the associate tells me for some reason they can't pull up my order # because the computer kept "freezing". I had to tell the associate that the reason its probably freezing is because the sale was voided. After I told the associate how to do her job she was able to track the refund which was processed on 6/19/14. 3 days after the date I was told it would be processed. There is no accountability for the associates, the staff has no knowledge of basic product information or store policy, and getting the assistance from an associate is nearly impossible. I am very dissapointed at this whole process and will no longer refer to home depot in linden for any needs. I will make sure to tell my friends who own contracting companies the same. It's not worth the headache. I am extremely frustrated and I wanted to call the store to speak to a manager about the whole process but i'm afraid i'll spend more time on hold than reading the entire encyclopedia britanica!! Wow !!! I can say with absolute certainty that this is the worst Home Depot on the planet. With the exception of the paint department, there isn't a single person with the slightest clue about anything. One incompetent passes you onto another and so on.....From the terrible customer service to the staff on the floor, this place is an absolute waste of time. More and more you see customers relying on each other for help and advice rather than the clowns, misfits, and dawn of the dead rejects that wear the orange. This place is an embarrassment to every other Home Depot. I can walk here from my house yet I chose to drive to Colonia or Woodbridge. If you really want to walk on the wild side try ordering something on-line and having it shipped to this black hole.This is an experience like no other; from the delays to the confusion to the outright lies you will be told .
