Bought a washer from them. The install was terrible. They left with the machine running. They didn't stay to check if it drained properly. As soon as they left, the drain pipe they installed leaked all over and our basement flooded. We looked to see where the water was coming from and the installer apparently zip-tied two pipes together and they were leaking at the connection. When we called they said we didn't pay for the install (Even though it's included in the price). Then they tried to say our pipes were configured incorrectly (but it's exactly the way the manual for the machine calls for & it's up to code). He advised us to call a plumber to have our drain pipe reconfigured, giving every excuse possible and trying to deflect the blame off of them. He also suggested that my husband do it because it's easy to set up. I asked them to pick up the machine and we will purchase a washer from another company with better installers.... But they threatened to charge us all these fees for pick up & removal. The guy on the phone got angry that we were complaining and defending ourselves. I had to call a plumber to do the install (that they should have done). Never again!!!!! Better off going to Home Depot or Lowes. I always went to Jacobsons (over 20 years) to support the mom & pop type business.... But never again. They obviously don't care about their customers. read more

I have been getting appliances from this store for several years. I purchased a new dishwasher , refrigerator, and stove in September. Had it delivered in November.I was told about the rebates I qualified for. I was able to get 1 and needed paperwork from the installer for the other. Called there at least 4 times all the way up until January 28, 2024. Pat said I will let the guy know you need it. Never once did he offer to mail it. After receiving the appliances I stopped in the store to go over paperwork that was required for the rebate. He rudely told me that he explained at the time of purchase which was several weeks before. He was annoyed that he had to tell me once again. After never receiving what was needed, I again phoned Pat on January 28th ( these papers needed to be postmarked by Jan 31) he was on speaker phone in my office. Again extremely RUDE. After I hung the phone up my colleague who was in the next office, asked me who was that on the phone. I told her the person that sold me $6200.00 worth of appliances. Her response," are you kidding me. That was one of the rudest persons I have ever listened to on a phone. What is the name of that store? I will make it a point to never do business with them or recommend them to anyone. I will shop elsewhere," she said. I have always recommended them in the past, but I will NEVER purchase from them again. More people should boycott this establishment!!!!!!!! I was looking for a washer to replace one that I bought in 2012 which went bad. I did my own research into recommended models, and found them on Jacobson and other local appliance stores' websites. I chose Jacobson's because they were the closest and were in a UEZ area, so less taxes to pay. For reference, there was another in Roselle with the same UEZ qualification, but I can't recall their name. In my first call to Jacobson I confirmed they had the models I was looking for in stock, and Tarek, the gentleman who picked up, was a very fast talker that had plenty to say about everything, and I could ask for him when we arrived. My wife and I arrived and Tarek wasn't available, but the guy who helped us was somewhat hostile and off-putting. To elaborate: I had asked for one particular model of washer, and he said that wasn't the one I wanted. I told him I'd done some research and found sites that had tested its components and the unit itself extensively, and he said it was no good - I didn't want it. "I can't tell you that it's a piece of junk, but it's a piece of junk." He then said "Look, let me educate you in what you want." I replied "I'd like to see model X, then." To which he pressed the issue: "no, no, listen, I've been doing this for 20something years, and I know what it is you're going to be looking for." I was about to do a 180 and leave then and there - this tactic smacks of used-car salesman and doesn't really have a place when I could just take out my phone and find the exact same models on my list for the same price elsewhere. I can't speak for everyone but I have no problems driving 20ish minutes to a competing local place for a pricey purchase. I heard him out, let him do his shpiel, and asked him where model X on my list stood. He demoed it, we looked at a few others, and decided on a GE model. I should have known something was up when I saw how he was taking our order down. A pad of carbon paper. Not the computer where he had looked up and printed out tech spec sheets on the washers - a pad of carbon paper. We told him that we couldn't take delivery during the week, since both my wife and I work. We had availability until noon on Saturday the 9th, but we had to be done by noon. He said it would not be a problem, and he'd let his drivers know. Saturday came. We didn't get any kind of call after we left Jacobson's. 9:30ish came, and we got a call from the delivery guy: "I'll be there between 11 and 2." My wife and I were performing in a concert starting at 2 PM, hence our noon departure. I told the guy that wouldn't work, they had to be done by noon. He said he'd talk to his dispatch and call back. 10:30 came, no word. I called the guy again: "I'm in Cranford, I don't know when I can get to you, but I can be there by 11:40." "Okay, but will you be done by 11:59?" I asked. "I can't say," he replied. I called Jacobson's, asking for them to reschedule. I again spoke with Tarek, who proceeded to rapidly explain that the trucks left from Monroe Township, and they don't get the schedule until the morning of the delivery, how they had to pay a penalty for missed delivery, and a bunch of other factors. He proceeded to literally continue talking down my attempts to ask questions, going into detail about how they can't always give a time window for delivery. I normally don't like to be rude but I had to say "Please stop talking and listen to me!" before I could try to sort things out. He initially said he couldn't commit to a time, I only asked for a time window. Again, he said he couldn't. I had to ask "you can't even give me a six-hour range of time for me to be available? What am I supposed to tell my boss if I have to ask to leave early?" That seemed to get him to understand what was going on. He put me on hold and said he could commit to the coming Monday, 1-3. I got a call from the delivery guy on Monday. He said he'd be there for 12:30. 12:30 on a 1-3 window. I tore my hair out, told him I could only be there for the 1-3 window, and he said he'd be able to wait for me. I got home at 1:05 - no truck. Nobody. I called, he said he had to run to Jacobson's and will be directly to me thereafter. By 3:00, I had nobody show up. I was looking up the same washer on PC Richard's website and planning to call Jacobson's to cancel everything as of around 3:30, when the guy and his helper arrived. Fortunately, the driver and helper knew what they were doing and the removal/installation went flawlessly. That was the only thing turning this into a 1-star review - in the end, it worked out. Listen to all the negative reviews over the years for this business. It's old school in all the wrong ways. Pushy, unhelpful sales people, poor organization, lousy delivery. I'm trying other local appliances sales places next time. read more

We purchased our kitchen appliances at Jacobson's (through our contactors recommendation) with our kitchen renovation. They were delivered in time and the savings is measurable. My dealings were with Pat and he was to the point, which I respect. I had a couple changes in the selections and he provided pricing for changes and was sure to point clarify what I was ordering so there was no misunderstanding or mistakes (due to any possible error on my part) with model numbers. Never had to travel to their store, as I did all shopping online, reading reviews. I simply sent email with model numbers of all selections, given pricing Pat detailed in full. Then provided credit card over phone. Given overall cost of kitchen remodel, this was one instance where I felt a win (saving some real money based on competing prices). Following in my parents' footsteps, I have been shopping at Jacobsen's for years. I've purchased all of my appliances here and often find myself recommending them to anyone who will listen. I usually deal with Pat and rely on his well-informed opinions to help guide my decisions. However, it's still my job to come prepared - I research models, prices, etc. before I head in. I don't necessarily agree with the reviewers who've complained about the rudeness, etc., having never experienced it. No, the salespeople aren't kissing up to me or coddling me, but that's fine by me - I'm there to make my purchase at the best price, pay only 3% tax and get free delivery. There are often coupons available as well - $25.00 off - I usually find them in my local paper. Inventory is currently low, but that's happening everywhere now. I'd still highly recommend Jacobson's. As a frequent customer I was very disappointed to learn that this store does not stand behind its products and leaves customers on their own to deal with defective appliances. They are a processor only not an actual customer based store. We have purchased several somewhat expensive air conditioners (in-wall units) and one of them stopped working in about a year. Considering ac is only used for a few months in the summer, it really only worked for a few months. After repeated follow ups with them (they kept saying check back tomorrow) the store did not do anything to remedy the situation and told us to sort it out with the manufacturer. I bought all my appliances here and paid $9k for everything. I then purchased another $700 worth of insurance through them. I loved all my Bosch appliances but was extremely unsatisfied with my GE fridge which they recommended. When I contacted the store to see if I can exchange the product, they refused to deal with me and sent me to GE. GE told me that the store has to take it back. Jacobson was extremely rude, would not get back to me, and when I finally told them that I would do a chargeback if they don't help me, they wrote back to me in capital letters that they will take the fridge back but will not sell me another one. Shocking. I guess my $10k was not good enough for them. If you want good customer service, don't come here read more

Pre sale service was very good......Ordering was easy. Delivery scheduling and actual delivery was good. Price not the lowest but I bought anyway based on personal friend's good reference. Was given incorrect information on rebates by retailer. [Though manufacturer's... (Bosch) rebate rules were confusing with multiple date cutoffs] Followed up via multiple phone calls, emails and USPS mail. No response from Jacobson. Poor after sale customer service. Long time Jacobson employee, Pat, helped me select a dishwasher that met my needs without getting ridiculous (No, I don't need to manage my dishwasher from the road).I selected GE Profile PDT845 . . . The machine arrived on the designated date and the installers were courteous, competent and professional. Best of all the machine works great. One hundred forty water jets go to work on the dishes. There is a special jetted section for just the tableware basket. There are anchors for long-stemmed wine glasses and clamps to keep bottles upright. Dishwasher can be run without the drying cycle - a running time and energy saver. I had this feature on my previous Bosch and got very used to it. Very rude sales people....I called to get some prices and the sales person told me that he was busy and will call me back in 5-10 min, after waiting like 40 minutes with no return call, i decided to call the sales person agaiin, when he answered, he was a little rude at first, i tried to beat him up on the price like all customers doo and he started screaming at me and giving me a bigger attitude. okay, old school place, dirty, cramped, and limited selction on floor. limited parking. all salespeople with accents, no respect for women (I guess they don't know actually controls the money.) However, the salespeople do know their stuff and are well apprised of what's out there. I bought frig and they did, indeed, know how to guide toward the best fit, function, and price. I had a problem with teir delivery service that damaged my home, broke the ice maker, and put the door handles on upside down. even tried to charge me for reversing the doors. theguys were total jerks. I bought this in Oct., it now Dec, and I still cannot get the plugs to cover the holes where the door hinge was changed even though Tarek has promised me 20 times. The refrigerator (Maytag) works 1000X better than the GE that was only 10 months old. If you buy from them, and their prices are good, make sure you negotiate heartily, get everything you want up front and in writing, before paying off the credit card.
