I visited The Home Depot with my son and niece. While the store was nearly empty and offered a good selection of products at competitive prices, the customer service experience was very disappointing. We walked around for a while trying to locate assistance but couldn't find anyone available on the floor. Eventually, we had to track down an associate ourselves. When we explained that we needed help, the gentleman said he would get someone to assist us. We waited about 10 minutes, but no one came. At that point, my son went to find someone again. After roughly 20 minutes total, two associates arrived at the same time. While we appreciated that someone finally came to help, the delay was frustrating, especially considering the store wasn't busy. The store clearly has strong product selection and fair value, which is why we shop there. However, attentive and timely customer service is just as important. I hope management works on improving responsiveness and communication so future visits reflect the same quality as their merchandise. read more

Delivery was not only missing items ( not the first time by the way) but when you call to fix it, they dont pick up. It actually rang for 10 minutes with no answer. No recording. Nothing. One time it rang for 5 minutes and then they hung up. Terrible service. One good thing I can say is they don't suck as bad at Lowe's at delivering. read more

First and last time renting a truck from this nasty, incompetent, dirty store! Was there early for a 3:30 pick up. The guy didn't know how ratchet hooks worked so he was useless. I was going to buy them there but thought I would buy where I had to pick up my items instead because I wanted to get going. The truck I got (only one in that size) was horrible. Terrible truck, dirty windows (which played a part in why I had to stop at a LOWES to get a window cleaner and cloths to clean them to avoid getting into an accident. I was driving back in the glare of the setting sun. Very loud engine and/or air conditioning, dirty flatbed (had to buy a tarp to protect my items when I should have had them clean it but needed to get on the road and back- in what I originally thought would be in a decent time). The most important factor was that 3 of the 4 hooks on the flatbed itself- that I needed to TIE down the items transported- were NOT USABLE! It took me an HOUR to finagle tying the hook ties - see pics - that I bought at my destination -The Tractor Supply Store in Medford- around, through, over, under, knotting, and prayer so that I would not have my items flying off the back on the Long Island Expressway! So coming back the usual hour and a half trip in two hours in the slow lane with the hazards at or under the speed limit! So of course I was charged for a whole day when I returned. They are almost always fully stocked when it comes to everything, seasonal or otherwise. Their Halloween and Christmas displays blow other locations out of the water! At times that I go to this location, I just open the Home Depot app, search what I am looking for on the app and it will show me which aisle I have to go to for that certain item. What's also cool is when you find the item that you are looking for, you will find another brand of that same item which is sometimes an upgrade. Check-out is a breeze as they have an automated check-out machines, this system greatly prevents excessive long lines during check-out. For anything that I buy that does not work, I simply return it to Home Depot without any hassles, and I get my money back. The recent home project that I had was a garage door replacement delivered and installed by Home Depot, I was extremely satisfied with the praiseworthy workmanship that they have done, installers are exceedingly friendly, extensive explanations are given prior and after the job. I went to return an item that was defective. I had the original receipt which the transaction was done about a week before I went to return it . The return desk staff scanned my receipt. then asked for my ID. I said why do you need my ID? I do not like to be scanned my ID all over the place so I feel Home Depot I needs to get their act together. I can see if you do not have a receipt off course you will an I'd to complete transaction.That's a different story but I had a physical receipt, which was the original receipt so cooperate needs to get their policy in order. What happen if I did not have my license on me I would have to make another trip that's idiotic. The worker over there was horrible she gave me attitude right of the bat. (customer service.) I brought in some items I wanted to return, and when I approach her automatically right off the bat, the answer she gave me was horrible with attitude. then she says she can't give me back my money because the item is not charged on the receipt yet it clearly was and one of her workers try to overcharge me $27 when the item is worth $21 simply because he was lazy to check the actual price which was on the wood on the opposite side. me and my father both explained to her that she needs to give us back her money because we were charged for it and it's not our problem that their employee had a mistake at the end of the day they were supposed to give us our money because it was on the receipt and then I said OK then who do I talk to get this issue resolved and she hit me with I am the supervisor Then doesn't say much, but the fact that I had to bring up my tone and feel disrespected i I had to explain to her three times. This has been one of the worst experiences I have ever dealt with. We were referred to a saleswoman at the Home Depot Kitchen department. She is the only reason there is 1 star. She helped us design our kitchen within our budget. She was actually great. However, it all went downhill from here.We purchased new kitchen cabinets and counter tops. Our kitchen cabinets were from Thomasville. The delivery service Home Depot used could not have been more unprofessional. They were more than 2 hours late from their allotted 4-hour window. The delivery man threw our cabinets in our apartment. The shotty care along with the terrible packaging of the cabinets resulted in many scratches. One of my cabinets had a totally cracked frame. Because of the cracked frame, Home Depot ordered a replacement cabinet. The cabinet was supposed to take 2 weeks. It took 4! And you guessed it, the replacement cabinet had a cracked frame. I do not even know what to say. Then there are the counter tops. We contacted Home Depot to let them know our base cabinets were installed so they can come and do the final measuring for the counter tops. The measurer said it would take a week and a half until he had time to come and measure. When he finally came, he was in and out in 5 minutes. Refused to take our sink base. Then a week and a half later the counter tops were delivered. However, the measurer put the wrong seam in the tops, therefore, the counter tops did not fit into our space. When the installers tried to remove the tops, they damaged our 2 lower cabinets, 1 upper cabinet and our wall. The counter tops were re delivered the next day with a second seam. Everything fit, however, the sink cut off was too big! The measurer took the wrong measurement. The counter top installers had to come again. This whole process has been such an ordeal. I went to get a gallon of paint and asked for the one with primer. The lady gave me the expensive $70 Dynasty paint. I had no idea it was that price until I was at the register. My eyes almost popped out! The cashier was surprisingly friendly though. I went back to the paint depth to ask for a cheaper paint- the one I usually get which also has primer. After a bit of back and forth, she gave me the new paint and explained to me why she gave me the dynasty paint in the first place. She was nice about it even though I had gotten a little snippy bc I felt she was talking down to me. I thought we were cool but once I got the new paint can to the register, I realized it had a bunch of wet white paint all over it-which whatever I'm in dirty work clothes- but then I realized granny was next level petty and she got me good with the paint. I would have gone berserk if I had been in regular clothing. Make sure you know exactly what brand and type of paint you want, and know that even older people can be petty as hell. read more

Online it said there were 32 of the item in stock at the Elmont NY store. Well you guessed it, when I arrived at the store not 1 sales associate could find where the item was. This is easily one of the worst Home Depot locations, specifically the customer service. As a tradesman, I go to a big box stores virtually everyday... Home Depots being a majority of those times for 15 years now, I've never seen staff there go so low on the service scale. I went in to purchase a Dewalt Jobsite table saw. The online app said there were 9 in stock. At the display, none were below the sample model. I asked 3 reps, first rep said he didn't work in that department (while he was stocking that department). Second rep said to ask the guy on the next aisle (the next aisle was not in tools dept). Finally I tracked down someone who said they worked in that dept. He then proceeded to say everything is under the display. Then he looks under and it's empty. He then walks me to customer service, goes behind the counter, chats with a female rep, then tells me to walk back to the Tools dept and wait for him to bring one out. 10 minutes, 20 minutes later.... the guys doesn't come back. I go back to the Lady aforementioned, she stares at me and says the guys shift ended and he left for the day. read more

Your typical, huge Home Depot. Stacked wall to wall & floor to ceiling with practically anything you need for your home improvement needs. With such a huge place, locating what you're looking for can sometimes be difficult and sometimes finding a store associate to help you can be just as difficult. I was looking for some shelving and wasn't sure where to locate it so one nice associate whom I sought out told me where it was but then also walked me right to that area. Liked the persona touch. Asked another associate for something else and he pointed to a couple of aisles but he didn't seem too sure of that or too willing to help. I went where he sent me but it wasn't there. Figures... I tried to find another associate but that was a challenge. It was then that I looked up and saw a sign that mentioned that they had an app (not sure why that didn't come to mind). Cool thing about that app was that you can set it to detect your location and when you find the item you're looking for within the app, it will tell you what aisle the item can be found. That was pretty awesome! Pricing is fair. Big parking lot is a major plus. Despite it being a busy Saturday afternoon, they has plenty of staffed checkout lanes open and even the self service lanes all worked (which isn't always the case) and not too jammed up. Bought a BBQ and Home Depot said their delivery is $80 and will take 3 days but the associate also recommended delivery drivers that do not work for Home Depot but Home Depot recommends them and they are only $20 and they'll do it now. I decided to choose the $20 delivery, the delivery driver said it was $20 prior to giving them my address. He brought it to my home and as I gave him the $20 he then says "what's this? The delivery is $80" and was arguing with me for 20 minutes. I then told him to take back the bbq to Home Depot and I'll find my way to bring the bbq here. Spent 3 days calling the store all at different times with hopes someone would pick up to check on an order that was due in on 5/24/19. Today is 5/28/19 and still no one has called to confirm order is in or to confirm pick up. Going through the phone tree is like a maze and no matter what number you choose, you're surely either wIt an hour or get disconnect. Call 516-488-8500 and write back to see if you get through. This location does not always have what we need in stock so we try to call to check before making the trip but they never pick up the phone! I just called to ask if they have a certain sample of cellular shade fabric (so we can see it in person.) It took me 15 minutes to get to a rep, who said she didn't know and had to go check. After a few min she comes back but just hangs up the phone. I call again to be on hold for another 15 min and I hang up out of frustration. Unfortunately, this is not a one off. Last time instead of calling we checked online and it said they had a certain AC in stock so we went to the store and as we feared, they didn't have it in stock. Another time, we ran out of propane gas while grilling and wanted to check their stock but also couldn't get a hold of someone on the phone. We didn't want to risk a trip so we drove to get it elsewhere. I really hope someone reads this and can really work on improving their customer service. read more

From the lowest valley to the highest mountain, this must truly be the worst Home Depot in the history of man in regards to customer service. Not only is the staff completely ill of knowledge they also lack basic communication skills and respect for the human race. Every time i go to this place i wind up helping a customer because the staff is not capable of doing so. For instance i saw a man ask a worker in the electrical isle a few weeks ago if underground cable can be used in the house as well. The worker told him he doesn't know anything about electrical and walked away from him. Come on, watch DIY or HGTV for 5 minutes and you can answer that question. I have complained to Home Depot about this location and have talked to the store manager who is a very nice gentleman. However the task to make your employees into decent humans must be a monsterous undertaking, i have not seen any improvements yet. If i go in and have a question, i'm better off walking out, going home, googling the question and going back educated myself to make the proper purchase.
