I was reminded today of one of the several reasons why I try to avoid shopping at Home Depot. I needed a part that only HD had in stock today within a 50 mile radius of where I live, At least that's what they said on their website. I purchased it online around noon, to pick up at the store later in the day. With no message of it being ready after 4 hours, I headed to the store. On arrival, I was told that the online ordering system was down, and that no online purchases could be picked up. Lots of unhappy customers. So I headed to find the part in the store myself. None to be found on the shelf. I was told at the online purchase desk that the item had probably already been pulled for me, and that I could make another 30 mile round trip tomorrow to pick it up. At 8 PM, I received a text message from HD saying that the item was unavailable. They hadn't had it in stock all along. As I really did need the part by tomorrow morning, I looked online to see if another HD nearby had it in stock. The Roanoke store showed there were 4 there. I called to make sure, but apparently there were no human beings there to talk with. I decided to take a chance, and drove to Roanoke. The part was indeed there. Got home about 9 PM. If HD had had their sh*t together enough to know what they had in stock, I could have had the part in an hour, and been able to finish the project today. Instead, it took 9 hours, and will be another before I can finish. read more

Nothing but struggle with Home Depot. At this point, it's just a warehouse that you don't need special membership to purchase from. And the employees in general are only there to ensure you do not steal anything. They've moved to a Walmartian post pandemic mentality at every. single. store. Today, 8-13-22, at 3pm, the young dark headed girl working in cabinetry was an absolute hot mess and aggravated by otherwise very mild tempered husband. He told me when we got to the car she appeared stoned. Surely Home Depot wouldn't allow that given the nature of accidents that could happen as a result. Seems no one really cares at all anymore. I specifically called yesterday asking about renting a truck. They said come by after 5 on the phone we'll have 2 trucks. I take my time to follow the directions. I get there and they say we can't rent trucks. Long story short, the people are not trained to give you the right answers so I recommend that you get a manger on the phone every time someone tells you something to confirm. I've never seen a store chain with worse customer service. Oddly, everywhere I looked today all I saw were people wearing orange vests, and they were all talking amongst themselves. I could stand in the aisle scratching my head with a puzzled look on my face and nobody would ask if I needed help. Their aisles are a nightmare also. So much stock blocking traffic and making it hard to navigate the store. People laugh at me when I graze one of those display shippers and knock it over. The scheduled home delivery service is a joke. Every time I've done this there's been an issue with missing items or wrong items being received. I ordered three things this time so I felt safe doing it again.... This time I received someone else's order instead of my own! Trying to order online for convenience only ends in a head ache. I bought a new water heater. HD has a same day service though since I bought on Fri afternoon it was delivered and installed on Mon morning. I was quoted 1500 without auto shut off for 50 gallon w 12 yr warranty. That included part labor permit but not any new fittings. I ended up paying 2100 and ended up with a cheaper water heater w only a 6 year warranty. 2 hours labor. Here is what it ended up costing me: $750 for water heater $150 auto shut off, $100 misc parts $300 in taxes and permits and $800 in labor. that's 400 per hour in labor. do NOT buy a water heater installation from HD unless you intend to pay $400 an hour for labor. read more

This Home Depot has some very bad people working there right now! Went in to purchase a few tools. While picking out a battery and charger for my new Ryobi One plus cleaning equipment, I was treated very rude! I understand the batteries and charger came out of a locked cabinet and she wanted to walk it up to the counter, but I just wanted to look at it to make sure it was the one I pointed out and wanted. From there it got a lot worse! Batteries and charger handed off to Juliann. I told her I wanted self checkout and needed to put in my pro rewards #. She jumped in between me, my cart and machine and rang it up and started mouthing off while doing it. Lecturing me about the equipment was from a locked cabinet. I went behind her and stuck my credit card in and paid for those 2 items! Then I had to ask her to move so I could ring up the rest of my purchases. She did move aside a little while 2 other Home Depirt girls surrounded me! Jules and Raven! Badgering me and acting aggressive towards me. Finally my husband had enough and he stepped in and asked for a manager. Raven said they didn't have one on Sunday's but Jeff would be back tomorrow. She was so rude with her delivery of this info that my husband got suspicious. He decided to go to the courtesy counter and check this info! Come to find out, HECTOR is actually the manager, not Jeff! While my husband was at the counter the girls kept yelling at me and badgering me to get out of their store! I was having trouble ringing everything up because they were badgering me so much! I was actually shaking when I put my credit card in a second time! The girl gang called security who arrived about the same time my husband got back! I thought we were going to be physically attacked by this now large group of about 7 Home. Depot employees!!!! I got my receipt and we pushed thru their gang of people to leave. One of them followed us almost to our truck! When my husband noticed him and said it out loud, he immediately darted thru some parked cars! We got into our vehicle and left! I spent $550.00 today on tools I need for my company! Only to be treated like a common their and harassed by a Home Depot gang!!! My husband and I have a pro rewards account that typically spends about $100k per year! I think I'll go to LOWES from now on! This facility in Denton doesn't fee I CALLED HOME DEPOT CORPORATE ON MONDAY (next day). LINDA WAS VERY NICE AND WUITE SHOCKED THAT ALL OF THIS HAPPENED TO US. SHE REFERRED MY COMPLAINT ON TO LICAL GENERAL MANAGER, HECTOR. I FINALLY SPIKE TO HECTOR ON THURSDAY OF SAME WEEK. HE IS A NEW MANAGER TO THIS LOCATION AND WAS VERY INTERESTED IN WHAT HAPPENED. I FEEL CONFIDENT HE WILL TRY VERY HARD TO FIX THIS SITUATION. HE DID SAY THAT CSR's DID NOT ALIGN WITH HOME DEPOT! HE ALSO SAID THAT ACCOUNTABILITY WAS IMPORTANT TO HIM. So now we wait and see. DON'T BUY WINDOWS FROM THE HOME DEPOT! I ordered and paid for my windows in full back in November (four months ago). My installation date on my contract was Feb 9th. That day has come and gone without a word or explanation from anyone. My sales person does not respond to any emails or phone calls. I've been calling The Home Depot since Feb 28th and my concern has been escalated three times. I have not received a call back from ANYONE. If you can't get a call back when you haven't even had the product installed, how easy will it be to have warranty repair completed? I've asked for my money to be refunded because nothing has been completed and was told that the sales manager needs to speak to me for that to happen. He hasn't called me in three weeks! I recently had windows installed, and during that process the installers broke off a sprinkler head in my flower bed, got a work order number; yet no one from Home Depot has called, texted or left message. In addition one of the windows has a large scratch, yet no one from Home Depot has visited to review that scratch. Totally disgusting restrooms. Wife and I went in today to pick up a few things. Went into restroom and it looks as though it hasn't been cleaned in ten years. Feces on toilet seats and the filthy floors made me want to change my shoes. Even the soap dispenser was out of soap. How pathetic. Needed a piece of equipment from the rental side of this HD store. The kid working in there was a complete fool. Spent the entire time trying to upsell me on a larger unit/ more expensive rental. When I chose the one I actually needed he said " I can't guarantee that it is working" obviously they get compensated to rent out more expensive equipment. I walked out, never going back. If that is the kind of employee you hire, good luck. Plenty of other hardware stores in town. read more

I know I can't be the only one who likes to just walk into a hardware store and just smell the wood. I sometimes just like going into Home Depot or Lowes and just walk around and surprisingly not buy anything. I guess it's been that way for me for a long time. Back home in New Jersey there used to be a hardware store called Rickels and I remember as a little kid getting dragged there with my father. Somehow the wood smell keeps triggering things from the past. As for Home Depot.... well if you haven't been in a big orange box, you must be Amish or living under a rock. They have everything (well most everything) and you can wander for hours. They didn't have the type of storage drawer I was looking for, I found it elsewhere. Every time I leave this store I swear I will never return. After tonight I will go to the Lewisville store which is marginally better. Tonight we were ignored, looked at like we have three heads and were generally treated like crap. I realize that we were there late but if you are open for business until 10pm you need to service your customers until 10. Not ignore then because you also have new stock. My major complaint is how they treat women. I have been little ladied one too many times at this store. So you lost me. The sad thing is no one will care. This review refers to the HD in Denton, TX. I was in the store today, shopping for flooring. I was in the store 45 minutes, most of which time I spent trying to find information about items in the flooring display. No one approached me and asked if I needed help. Then, I decided to check out the wallpaper. I walked around until I spotted an employee who told me which aisle it was on. Nope. I again had to search for an employee. When I found one, he told me to look on a different aisle, across the store. He sent me to the plumbing aisle. For wallpaper. I am really struggling to not include F-bombs in this review. Note to Home Depot training manager: When a customer asks a question the employee doesn't know the answer to, the correct response is, "One moment and I'll check," or, "Let me find out for you." read more

I was extremely disappointed when I went to rent a tiller this week. The first started, but the tines would not turn. I went back to get a replacement- this one started, the tines turned in the store- but in the first 5 minutes of actual use, half fell off the main shaft. I managed to get them back on but they fell off a second time 30 minutes later. When I returned the tiller the young man (T***) that had helped me get tiller #2 said it was a "new feature" of that tiller. (total BS) I am a 65 year old woman and I have using power tools since before this guy was even born. To say that I will NEVER rent (or buy) a tool from Home Depot is an understatement. Thank goodness for the two young women working in the tool rental department- we spotted where there was a missing cotter pin mid shaft on the tiller- and a note was made for the repair tech. read more

I cant describe my loathing of these big box home improvement stores. I usually get away with getting what i need from smaller places, but im restricted to shopping those during the week usually. The convenience of this store keeps me coming back despite this. its right off 288, and majority of the time they have what i need and i can use their website to find right where it is, get in and out in under 5 minutes. Weekends are a a thing from a horror movie. that can be expected with the weekend warrior rush, but holy cow. it never fails to not get assistance in finding something when the website fails me, probably cause some turd grabbed what i was looking for, browsed around, and just dumped it off somewhere in the store. Like I said, I go in knowing what I need before hand, I'm not looking for advice, or hoping that some store associate will come build me a mansion. Today I went in for just a cheap, small tiller. Website said they had 1 in stock. I got there and tracked down its location in gardening. There was a display showing its picture, details, and price. There were other tillers right there, but no stock. I showed the items listing on the website to an associate, after I spent minutes finding one. They said it was over by the mowers. Scoured the mower isle, end caps, and surrounding isles. nada. double checked the section in gardening. scoured around for a different associate. showed them the same thing and this time referred me to the trimmers aisle. scoured that whole power tools section again without finding a single tiller. I realize there is in store pickup, so maybe I'll just do that from now on. I literally wasted a whole hour being sent on a wild goose chase. It's so insanely difficult to find help in this place, even though they wear bright orange vests. read more

Follow Up to previous review. So, after months of being unable to use the nearly $600 in store credit Denton HD gave us when we ordered online for pickup and then when they didn't have the item refused to refund the money and would only give us a store credit, the Gainesville store FINALLY discovered the problem. When issuing the store credit, they entered my husband's name incorrectly putting his middle name as the last name. Thus, the name on the card doesn't match the state issued ID and is rejected when we try to spend the money. I am convinced the Denton store is just scamming people out of their money. Making it virtually impossible to spend the store credit when they should have issued an actual refund. Disgraceful and unethical and as you can see below, no one from management has even attempted to reach out and address the problem. Horrible, horrible customer service. read more

Horrible customer service. My mother ordered a curbside order because she had congestive heart failure and can't walk far. She was in town and needed to pick up something. She got there when the order was ready and they didn't answer the phone for a while. Then told her several times they couldn't find the order. Then conveniently got disconnected. Then no one answered again. I called for her since she had been sitting in her car, dealing with them and waiting for over a half hour!!! After being on the phone on hold for 20 min myself I was told by customer service that they were too busy to bring her order to her in the parking lot! Absolutely unacceptable! Terrible way to treat customers. They put me on hold in the middle of me trying to explain my mother's situation and never came back. After 20 min I just gave up and canceled my order. read more

I know this is a massive chain, but I really enjoy going to Home Depot. Maybe you feel like a man when you shop there, or it encourages me to build something. Either way Home Depot is my go to place for anything related to house or building materials. This location always has super friendly and helpful people. In pretty sure 100% of the time someone offers to help me find what I need. Things are hard to find in a store this size so help is appreciated. They have a great selection and everything that I have ever needed. Good price on lumber and other building materials. I have built quite a few things for my backyard and school and this Home Depot is always my first, and usually only, stop. My kids also love the Build and Grow worskshops. We have been to dozens. When it's nice out they have bounce houses and free popcorn. What a great way for kids to learn engineering and working with their hands. read more

If I could rate this with no stars, after my experience today, I would. I waited at the paint counter for 45 minutes and did not even get to walk away with my intended purchase. At 1040, I waited at the paint counter waiting to place my orders for my colors, there was only one associate helping 3 other people so I told him i could wait while he finished up mixing the paints, another associate came by and asked if he needed help, and grabbed a customer service associate. At 1047- the other associate arrives and asks me what I need, so I explain to her I needed a quart of " " color and two samples of "x"color- and she says "I don't work here I am just helping out sorry" and yells to the other associate who is obviously very busy "can you walk me through this thing again I don't remember how to do it" so he walked her through the program and she said okay I got it" as she proceeds to type in the product number in the computer 5 times, not knowing she was putting it in the wrong field after I prompted her twice "maybe you should type in the name since your in the color name line" at this time she prints the sticker (after having to be walked through that step also) and another female associate walks by and says "I'll take that", the customer service associate then walks off and doesn't return. Female associate #2, does get my paint mixed and leaves it in the mixer for 20 minutes while she starts helping other customers, mind you, I am still waiting for my quart of paint and two samples. At 1057, I still do not have my quart of paint, and they still have not made my samples but they keep helping other people that came after me- orders included: trim paint, 2 customers demanding their paint matched get matched better, 4 other paint matches, glitter addition to clear coat, "which paint roller is best for ceiling paint" etc. At 1103: I finally get my quart of paint and they finally take my sample orders, she prints the stickers, grabs the samples and walks to the mixer along with 2 other orders from other customers. As I stand and wait, I watch as everything is getting mixed and other other customers who came after me are getting their products before I did. At 11:12- I was still waiting. I had my one quart of paint and was still asking if my sample were being made after they get a 3rd associate "to take orders" - instead of checking to see if "x,y,z" was being done, she starts helping over customers- adding more orders to the list. At 11:18: female associate #2 casually walks to the counter and says "what where the names of your paints again? I made them but I can't find them, I don't know what I did with them" -so does this mean you have someone else the wrong color? Or was it because the 3rd associate took the samples you left on the paint counter and used them for someone else's paints and threw your stickers in the trash? Because that's what I saw happen. At this point I was exhausted,fed up and left, and she unapologetically quips "well ok, have a good one then" and walks to someone else. Does no try to rectify the situation. I understand they get busy, things happen, people want this and that, I waited patiently but waiting 40 minutes for a quart of paint and two samples that I did not even get-- is beyond ridiculous. You have customers lining up around the entire counter because they have no system of where the line begins and where products should be picked up once complete, with some associates that don't know what they are doing, and are terrible at multitasking, time management, have bad attitudes towards paying customers that have been patiently waiting. I was not one of the customers demanding things be done, I saw they were busy so I waited, but ended up being ignored. Slow clap for you Home Depot. Worst experience I've ever had. I will be going elsewhere for my home improvement needs. read more

Hubs ordered paver stones to do a project - they used Estes to deliver these to us - it was horrible!! One guy on the truck to unload two pallets at 3500 pounds each - Hubs had to get the next door neighbor to help and we had to pay him. HD needs to work on getting their deliveries better - will never order anything again that has to be delivered, esp when it is heavy read more

About a month ago, we placed an order online for pick up because they said they had it in stock. We drove the 30 miles (one-way) to get it. Well, about the time we were supposed to be able to go pick it up, w get a notice that they don't have the product after all. We had used gift cards to pay for it and now here we are with used gift cards and no product. Then we are told we would have to physically come back to the store to get a replacement gift card. We had to drive BACK to Denton -- another 60 miles round trip and the card they gave us is for store credit. Poorest excuse for inventory management and customer service I have seen. I have a nearly $600 store credit I can't even use because I don't live there and can't even order online. Ridiculous. Drive a block and go to Lowe's. read more
