My local Home Depot, its more of a 3.5 star rather than a 3 star, but they dont do half stars on here... We get almost all of our home improvement needs here. We come here every month or 2. My biggest gripe with this place is the parking lot... I know that they build whatever they can with whatever land they are able to get, but it is a very awkward property, and driving through it is weird. They also have tons of speed bumps that are super super SUPER annoying on the south entrance/exit. Other than that my other gripe is staffing... They never have enough staff. They have to call people and you have to wait sometimes 5 or more minutes for someone to help you with something. Like purchasing paint, or cutting carpet, etc... They also have cut down on checkout cashiers, and there is a 20+ person line every time... Other than that, they always have everything that I need. I usually go for generic or simple things like a toilet seat, or door knobs. Things that they should have 200 of at each store lol! Never had any issues finding anything that I needed. I highly recommend downloading their App! It is extremely accurate! It will tell you the aisle, section, and most of the time shelf that an item is located on. Plus you can compare the skus very easily. All in all, a good HD. Aside from the terrible parking lot and staffing issues, I have never had any issues finding anything that I needed. read more

This location has consistently been a let down to my family and I. It's the closest to our home but we prefer to go anywhere else to get what we need. Unfortunately, they have a serious inventory issue and never have a legitimate excuse for why. For example, we are redoing the floors in our basement and their site said they had 23 cases of the one we liked (we only needed 6 cases). We drove all the way there and we're told they don't carry that floor at all. Then asked another rep who showed us where it was but that it was out of stock, a 3rd rep told us it was an online only item and that "you shouldn't trust the count online because it's never accurate." Not to mention, you have to chase down the associates because they are busy chatting and gossiping instead of helping customers. This is just one of multiple disappointments. I would recommend you try the one in Clifton or elsewhere. read more

I've lived in Bloomfield for 20 + years. This store has been horrible for all 20 years (impressive)! I live so close that I often stop in here, mainly for plants and gardening supplies. I wind up hefting giant bags of mulch or potting soil by myself as there is never anyone available to help out, and I don't even bother to look for help any more. They often don't have what I want, (everything seems to be "out of stock")and I wind up wandering around the dumpy store (their uglification plan is obviously a smashing success) in vain. Salespeople vary from pleasant to nasty/"can't be bothered with those damn customers" - you truly never know what you'll get. I have no idea why this store is always so bad- it's like it fell into a vortex of crud decades ago and has never been able to escape from its orbit. read more

Their delivery service scheduling is the worst! Expected a delivery of appliances, they send a 4 hour window of when to come, didn't show up. Got a new date, and they want me to be available from 07 AM to 7 PM, and they can't give a delivery window until the night before. Unlike other HD locations I've been to, this one has a single line for order pickup and returns. It was out the door when I showed up, and didn't move. I turned around and left without my order, which I will be canceling. Additionally the store is way too big for the immediate area. It's at the end of a pair of dead end streets, neither one of which is big enough to carry traffic in and out. Traffic was backed up in both directions. A big headache just to get there. Visited numerous times this past week for a DIY project. Although did not get a chance to ask staff for "real" help, people did ask if they could help, and if you look on the website, you can even find the aisle of the item you are looking for ahead of time. Unfortunately, also had to return some items, but the whole process from the self-checkout to returns was easy peasy. They even had a "Curb Side Café" in front of the store in case you're looking for something to nosh on during or after your visit. Plenty of parking! read more

Home Depot did me real dirty... I would give no stars if I could. I ordered a washer/dryer from them and the delivery company they contract with delivered it to my apartment and left it because I needed my valves replaced before they could install it. I paid a plumber to replace the valves and called them to come back to install the machine. Different people came back and pulled the machine out to install it and told me the connectors were broken. I had no idea because I never looked at the back of the machine and they told me to call Home Depot to replace it. When I called Home Depot they told me that I waited more than 48 hours to report the defect and they would not replace it, only refund my money and then I would have to order a new one. Almost 3 weeks without a washer dryer and they treated me like it was my fault that the machine was defective. I even spoke to their corporate office consumer relations and all she did was offer me an apology and a $50 gift certificate! They did not place blame on the delivery company or themselves. I will never use Home Depot for an appliance purchase again. I ordered the same machine, protection plan, parts, delivery, haul away and installation for about $100 less from Best Buy PLUS they will REPLACE the machine if anything goes wrong within the next two weeks!! read more

When you have one of the largest, if not the largest Home Depot locations a short drive away in Vauxhall, it is almost unfair to compare and review any other locations. The Bloomfield location is my local HD and is good for the basics: picking up items for essential repairs (e.g. toilet stopper ball, screws, etc.), basic gardening, and other routine household projects. All items are logically placed and check out is generally quick. If you have an involved or out-of-the box project, you will likely need to go to a larger location. There is little in the way of selection - only the basics. Staffing is also minimal but those who are there are helpful. I have noticed there are classes available each Saturday which provide basic instruction such as installing a new toilet, screen door, etc. I have not taken any of them but would imagine that they could be helpful and worthwhile to the aspirational DIYer on a budget or someone who is leery of what they see on YouTube (or like me, has had mixed experiences with people that they have hired via Angie's List). So, a decent local Home Depot but go elsewhere if you have a major project. read more

I actually think it's funny that I had previously posted a tip about how there were lots of staff around to help. Granted there usually are but this recent trip they really weren't. We went in specifically to get a piece of wood and have it cut. We walked around the wood section checking things out and looking for someone to help us.. No luck. Eventually we went to the register near the wood section and asked the woman working there if there was anyone who could help us. Though she made an announcement for someone to come she didn't seem to interested in helping us. We continued to look around while we waited..and waited..and waited.. so we decided to walk to the back of the store to see if we could locate anyone. We saw a gentleman sitting at a counter in the "door" section and told him we needed help. He basically told us that the "wood section" staff was in the back by the cutter and to go there. It felt like he was basically saying "it's not my department, it's not my problem, I don't have to help you" When we finally found someone in that department everything changed. The guys working the cutter were very nice and helpful. It's obvious that even if they were notified over the speaker system throughout the store they would never be able to hear it since they are standing next to a loud cutting machine. It would have been helpful if we were originally directed back there or someone else took initiative to help us. Before we left we also needed to pick up a small lock, the gentlemen we asked for assistance was helpful in pointing us in the right direction. read more

If you want an appliance delivered, do not go through Home Depot. We took the day off to get our refrigerator delivered. The driver called and said he was on his way. We left him a detailed message on where to park. He then leaves a message saying he couldn't find parking and left. We call Forward. Air ( subcontracted by HD( and Home Depot and get the runaround. After several phone calls, they reveal that the driver went to the building across the street and our delivery was rescheduled the following WEEK. No one at Home Depot could be contacted. I got surprised when I heard in the news that Home Depot was not making enough revenue a year, and I wondered why? Until I went last week and walk around looking for some help which it was difficult to find the minute your about to ask they disappeared, but when I finally ask the guy was clueless, I was looking for a water test kit to test the water and an air quality testing hand held machine shown on the Home Depot website, but he didn't know anything he show me a smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and a door bell!! Lucky me I knew what I wanted otherwise I windup buying other craps. Ask a second person and he hook me up with free water testing I said great. But it was for home owners and I live in housing, lol sad but with poorly trained employees the future ahead it's bankruptcy, another for the history book. read more

Everything about our experience dealing with this Home Depot was terrible. My wife and I wanted to get wood flooring installation done in our condo. They took the measurements and it was all downhill from there. The flooring we chose was an online order. Okay, fine. But for some reason that meant that they couldn't give us a quote. They had to find something similar as a placeholder in the system. That should have been a tip off - whether they have in-store or it's an online order, it is a product they offer yet for some unfathomable reason it isn't in their system so they can quote it. I lost track of how many times I had to call to get the order placed. No one in flooring ever picked up. Customer service couldn't help me and tried to transfer me back to flooring that never answered. When I did speak to someone they would tell me a supervisor would call me back in 20 minutes at the longest...they lied. Three days later no one called me back. This happened at various points over the process a half-dozen times. When they tell you someone will call, don't believe them. Chante, Fabio, Fiona are all liars. One person says we had to go in person to the store. But then they can't help us and someone will have to call us. They never call us. I wasted hours in that loop of being transferred between flooring and customer service. Somehow the order got split under two order numbers, but no one gave me the second order number, so three quarters of the job wasn't showing up in their system. Finally we get it straightened out after three weeks and I make the appointment with the installation company (a third party contractor). Another round of calls and no one getting back to me from Home Depot trying to arrange the delivery of everything so it will be ready in time for the installers (including the acclimation period the wood needs). I have yet to speak with anyone to make these arrangements and a truck shows up out of the blue delivering only the adhesive, which wasn't even the kind on the order! Lucky I just happened to be home. The drivers, I will say, were helpful getting the heavy buckets as far as they were allowed into the eight story building. But they didn't know about the eleven cases of flooring material or anything else. Another round of phone tag before I finally get a delivery scheduled between 6:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. They never showed up. More phone calls and runarounds. No one knows why they didn't make the delivery. Finally, they bring it that afternoon (again, the drivers were good about unloading). But there are no itemized lists what they're delivering. I am guessing it is everything - I am paying them to make sure everything the installers need gets delivered on time; that's their responsibility, not mine! It turns out the actual wood was a lot darker than the samples and quite cheap looking. My wife and I hated it and decided we didn't want it. Okay, that's on us. We rented a truck and brought the eleven cases back ourselves. Looking at the list on the quote as we tried to figure out what money we were owed back, we realized they had never delivered the molding, transition pieces, or underlayment. In other words, had we not decided we didn't like the color and the installers showed up, they would have been unable to do the job because stuff was missing!!! Finally we decided to just cancel the whole thing and find someone else. Getting our refund was another ordeal of calls and having to go in person. Part of the problem was the order being split under two numbers and us not being informed of that critical fact. There was only one person I dealt with who actually figured stuff out and returned calls. Her name is Cynthia and she seemed just as befuddled as me how they screwed it up so badly. The delivery guys were okay. I can't say how ACS flooring was for installation because we never got that far, though my dealings on the phone with them were fine. But when it domes to Home Despot, they caused us nothing but aggravation, wasted time, and wasted money. But I would still rather pay a restocking fee than trust them to do the work. No curbside pickup! This service is offered on the website at this location, and my email confirmation said my order was ready for curbside pickup. However, when I arrived at the store I was told dismissively that they no longer do curbside pickup. I shared that I had my two small children with me and could not go into the store with them, since I didn't bring their masks. I wasn't going to leave them in the car on a 95 degree day either. I went to Home Depot the other day looking for a screw extractor for a screw that broke off into my camera mount. I asked someone in info where I could find one, they didn't know. I went over to hardware and was brushed off by someone saying he was helping one else. He didn't say, "One sec, let me finish with the customer". He wasn't even with anyone. The customer was in another aisle. I asked someone else to please page someone to hardware so I could be helped. Waited and waited, still nothing. Finally, a worker in the bathroom department saw me standing around and offered to help. I showed him my camera and he showed me exactly what I needed in less than 3mins. By this time, I have been in the store over 40mins. I wish I got his name but that worker alone is the reason I will give Home Depot in Bloomfield 4 stars. read more

The culprits were the woman at the customer service section and then the guy that came to help me. In summary: This Home Depot is terrible, do not purchase anything from this Bloomfield location. The story: a Maytag dishwasher was purchased here and was delivered and installed at my house. The dishwasher was not working properly (it looked like an opened and used model when I saw the delivery guys take it off their unmarked truck) and it was not installed properly either. The metal piece on the bottom was left out and they left thinking they did a satisfactory job. Not to mention when the installer wanted to test the dishwasher he left all the styrofoam and instructions inside the dishwasher (bright guy). The installers barely spoke English (they were Hispanic) and were unprofessional as they were always fighting with each other and argued how to install the dishwasher. We call Home Depot and tell them the dishwasher isn't dissolving pods or soap and the metal piece was bent during installation and left off - they send the same two guys back to fix it or replace the washer. The guys show up weeks later and have the audacity to ask, "can we just install the metal piece and go onto our next job?" We told them the dishwasher wasn't working so they agree to install a "new" dishwasher. Again I go outside and watch them take this one off the truck, again it looks like an opened box and the box looks damaged so now I'm thinking all they do is install returned or broken units but we give them the benefit of the doubt. It's installed with the metal piece properly this time, but the dishwasher still doesn't work. The arms don't spin and the pods and soap don't dissolve (I forgot to mention we had a perfectly working dishwasher prior that was just getting old and we just wanted to replace). This time they blame the plumbing even though our previous dishwasher worked fine. We call a plumber and everything looks good to him. The pressure is good and our water is tested to show its not hard water so is perfect for dishwashers. We call Home Depot with the results and they tell us to call Maytag, fine. We call Mayag, they send a tech out - the tech said the the dishwasher wasn't installed properly. One of the sensors is not installed properly so he fixes that and says the tubes aren't installed properly either and says it's a Home Depot issue (lots of reflecting of responsibility here) and leaves. We call Home Depot yet again (now a month has already transpired) and tell them what Maytag says. They agree to send installers back out (now we requested new installers as we suspect the previous ones don't know what they're doing and are brining us used and/or broken dishwashers) and the installers try a "quick" wash cycle and see a little bit of water coming out of the arms and deem the washer works. They remove the bottom piece, take a look and say the dishwasher needs to be replaced, laughs then leaves. Now these are the same it's installing the dishwasher and repairing from Home Depot - they admit their install job is not to standard. We try again with the washer half way loaded, surprise surprise, the soap doesn't dissolve and the dishes are still dirty and the arms aren't moving. We use gel instead of the pod and the gel just goes down the side of the door and doesn't dissolve. We call Home Depot again and request a different model replacement since we've had no luck with this model but all they say is they can refund the cost of the dishwasher and waive the restocking fee as a "courtesy". That's it. That's how they decide to help us after this entire debacle. They can't refund the $100 install fee since the dishwasher is now passed the return period so they claim they're helping us out and doing us a favor. What a joke. No, you're not helping us out, you're not doing us any favors - you're refunding us the cost of a dishwasher that never worked and was never properly installed but not refunding our install fees and returning the perfectly good dishwasher they removed that was working fine before this whole episode started. We tried calling Home Depot back and now they're ignoring our calls. Dennis was purposely ignoring us and screening our calls (not surprised anymore). TL:DR don't buy appliances from these guys. They'll sell you second hand junk with installers who don't speak English and don't know how to install what they're delivering. Then they'll take your install fees and leave with without a working appliance. I'm the end you lose a working appliance, install fees, and time (for us over 1 month without a working dishwasher). Worst Home Depot I've ever done any business with. Unprofessional and disrespectful staff. Will never do business here again and would not recommend anyone shop here. read more
