When I research restaurants on Yelp for out of state trips, certain restaurants stand out and I know I have to visit. The Hog was one of those restaurants. The Hog has a very high overall Yelp rating, and a menu full of very cool sounding breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, burgers, jawns (iykyk, but think famous Philly foods) and bowls. It would literally take me weeks of eating lunch or breakfast at The Hog to order everything I want from the menu, but I ordered a "Grasso" Italian style hoagie for myself, and a "Blues for Tom" carved turkey based sandwich for my wife. The Grasso is not your Nonna's Italian. It has some familiar sandwich fillings like high quality hot soppressata and ham, EVOO, vinegar and oregano. Some stylized versions of things you know like shredduce, pickled onions and sun dried peppers. But I bet you've never had mozzarella's oozy cousin burrata on an Italian sandwich. Or whatever Garlic knot sauce is. This sandwich looked amazing. Tasted fantastic. The salty, sweet and acidic flavors really sang. The long hoagie roll was very good too. As much as I loved my sandwich, the turkey sandwich I ordered with my wife's tastes in mind may have been even better. It had carved turkey, Brie, Blueberry Chia Jam, apple, something called "rocket", toasted almonds and an unbilled starring roll for arugula (I believe). I've never seen this combination, but it played like a riff on the classic Thanksgiving style carved turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce. I don't know what this sounds like to people who eat a sandwich with just bologna, but it was amazing. The flavors and textures were so great. The country white bun was fresh and tasty too. The person who put this menu together is a culinary genius. So many cool options and unique takes on favorites. If you're anywhere near Wappingers Falls, you should go. Cute little spot. Local owners are fun, friendly, warm and welcoming people. When you walk in there, they make you feel like family. The food is unmatched, some of the best around and one of my favorite spots for a lunch date. My favorite item though is the Hashbrown fries. Finally made it to The Hog and got lucky enough to score parking in the backlot as well. I've been aching to get in to have the OG birdie, but since it was early AM I went for the Morning Birdie. It was everything I was imagining, but MORE. My boyfriend had to tell me I had hot honey dripping down my chin because my focus was not on being prim & proper, but fear not, The Hog is prepared. They have a station, that is esthetically as cute as the rest of the establishment, equipped with wet naps, napkins and plastic cutlery; to ensure you don't have hot honey drip down your chin :) The husband and wife duo are killing it and super friendly too! read more

Love The Hog! Great hidden gem. Owners are always friendly and easy to chat with. Fairly priced, quality food - The Hog is our favorite place to grab lunch on the weekend. The OG Birdie is, by far, the best fried chicken sandwich in the area. Essentially unlimited customizations, start with the OG Birdie and add anything you want to it. We usually have the chicken smothered in their Rooster Hot Sauce (an unbelievable buffalo flavor that's spicy without being obnoxious). Grab your napkins because it's extremely messy meal. We've only done take out because I'm fearful to eat it in public and look like I'm at an eating contest in Coney Island. Aside from the space, the staff, and the chicken, The Hog is unmatched in quality of ingredients. Despite eating their belly-buster Birdie sandwich, I always feel fine later in the day - a tribute to A+ chicken, oil, bread, etc. Order online or call. Well, very well organized and beautiful location upon entering to me it felt like an old bookstore with the smell of fresh croissants. The bathroom is very clean and the study area / dining was relaxing comforting &was great. I loved the hand wipes. I ordered the BLTA it was delicious. Do not come here if you're on a diet. This is the kind of place Guy Fieri visits on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, where he will demonstrate "the hunch", the preferred method of getting as much sandwich as possible in your mouth. Having the ability to unhinge your jaw helps. The cook has excellent fry skills. The chicken in my Tennessee Jed was crispy and juicy. The condiments were gooey, sloppy and a perfect foil to the crust on the chicken. They really should have a hose-down service. The service here is well above positive and friendly, the guy was actively explaining the menu and making suggestions, you really feel the passion for his business and his craft in food. Plus the menu itself is extremely creativity, took me a while to settle on something since I usually like try something different and well everything was unique. Got the crab on titan, which had to been the messiest sandwich I could have, but still very good. Over easy egg was fried perfectly with plenty of yolk to cascade down the sides, never had a green onion pancake, but it was pillow soft and lightly sweet, the sweet chili clementine sauce was very sweet and savory, whipped cheese sauce I liked, but it was hard notice it much over the clementine sauce. Wonton slice was crispy and crunchy and crab meat was well seasoned. Honestly after I told what I idea of sandwich was it was interesting it was a deconstructed take on a crab Rangoon. The hash-brown was well salted and seasoned, very crispy, honestly much better than I had elsewhere. We went for brunch on a Saturday around 11:00 am. My wife had the OG Chicken Sandwich and I had the Tennessee Jed chicken sandwich. Both sandwiches were delicious!! I think we both liked the OG best but if you like spicy the Tennessee was very good. I liked it more once I got used to the heat. The chicken was thick yet so tender and great quality. The food is without a doubt 5 stars. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because the atmosphere. Although it's a cute small town place the ventilation system needs some serious upgrades. It got so smoky my wife had to wait outside due to her eyes burning. The owners are very nice but should hire some help/waitstaff on the weekends. I highly recommend this place for the food. Adam and Corrinne have built a warm, welcoming space with wonderful smells welcoming you on a cold Fall day. The philly cheesesteak and chorizo sando had all the right ingredients and treatment. The bread is crunchy, the meat tender and savory and the other stuff done sparingly to highlight the meat. The sandwiches were greasy, and the philly had no green peppers, but they both tasted exactly right. Sausage made in house and everything was cooked and even packed to go with care and love. Been there a couple of times since "discovering" it (my son and his girlfriend actually found it), and have had a couple of sandwiches. Ok, I can't say enough about how wonderful The Hog is. We go there all the time and are always happy! Along with their regular menu, Adam, chef, and co-owner is always coming up with specials that are creative and delicious. They won Best Fried Chicken in the Hudson Valley, deservedly so. Their signature sandwich is the OG Birdie; a humongous fried chicken breast served on a bun with lettuce, pickle, and buttermilk mayo. You have an option to add a "hot bath," dipping the Birdie into various flavored baths. Breakfast is also a favorite there, with the Egg Man Platter being my favorite.
