Worst experience I have ever had. The old bartender with blond hair was rude from the moment we walked in. I carried a bottle of water with me because it is hot and it was just water. The bartender rudely tells me (not asks),"Can't have that in here!"From there it was downhill. So I take it outside and I not say a word to her. Unfortunately, she ends up being our server as well. When I receive my food I decided I wanted a lemonade. She goes to get it ..comes back and I ask for a salad as well ( because I got the urge for one) so I nicely ask for a side salad. She then says, "what else do you need?!" ( Like I was a nuisance for asking her to bring me what I need). Still being nice, I simply said nothing. I ordered the shrimp and it was all bread, super chewy, and the shrimp were so tiny. The waitress came back after I tried to eat three and I quit. I asked for the manager because the food was too hard to even chew. From this point on the lady starts telling me no she will not get the owner. Starts yelling at me and my sister. She even went as far to scream and put her finger in her face. The owner of this place did not apologize or try to correct the situation. Instead he said she has been here a long time .. and also ate a piece of my food after my hands has already been in it. Then proceeded to say there is nothing wrong with the shrimp. Then gave it to other customers sitting by us fed them from my same basket and even they said there is too much bread and the shrimp were too little. The owner was rude and tells me there is nothing wrong with your food! ( Eating from my same basket.. Disgusting) there was no customer service displayed and any sign of humanity from him. This is definitely a fun place to come down to for good old fashion country music, food and beer. We had the frogs legs, chicken dinner and the cheese burger pizza. All plates were pretty good especially the frogs legs and pizza. The place was very crowded on the Wednesday night we came down. We found a table and cleared it ourselves. The bartender saw this and immediately came over and apologized for not getting it and immediately served us our drinks. Cool atmosphere, very rustic cowboy bar. Would have given 5 stars but had a terrible experience with the food. Normally the cowboy pizza is delicious. Waiter talked us in to ordering thin crispy crust. Ok, why not try it. Bad decision. Pizza crust was doughy not crispy, really ruining the entire pizza. Then to add insult to injury, we were charged $2 MORE for thin crust! WHAT?! Who does that? Less dough used, but charge the customer more. And, of course, when the waiter "recommended" the thin, crispy crust, he did not disclose that is was more $$, which by the way, made it a $21 pizza! Total rip off. But there's more - we ordered an app of chicken strips and fries. Got only 2 pieces of small chicken and about 10 fries, for $10.99!! Could not be more disappointed with the food. Sunday 1/5/2020 my son, his Gf & a good friend all took our families out for a Sunday Funday & for dinner before school started again on Monday. There are (5) adults & (6) children in our group . We went to the Hitchin Post in Apache Junction where my sons girlfriends brothers band was playing. This was at 4:00 p.m.not 10 or 11:00 p.m., we planned a lil dancing & dinner till about 7:00 p.m.. My grand daughter was so excited to go dancing with Daddy in her new boots & cowgirl hat. So excited. When we arrived the band greeted his sister & (2) nephews & all of us and my son & daughter (7)immediately went for a dance along with his GF & her son (5). After this song the (2) children shared a dance, having a wonderful time . We were seated outside, no children were ever on the dance floor without an adult with them, never, there were only (3) who were not shy that wanted to dance. I (grandma) was with my (7) yr old grand daughter & her lil BFF girl friend (6) while they were dancing together, I was taking pictures when our server came on to the dance floor & took them back outside and we were told the owner did not want children on the dance floor. Again, these (2) lil ladies enjoying themselves were not there by themselves. There were no signs stating such a thing & had we known this in advance we would never have taken the children here. This was a good drive for all of us that within less than an hr became a horrible experience. My grand daughter just kept asking her Daddy please just go ask Daddy please. I guess you can feed & purchase soda's for children there but they are not allowed to enjoy themselves as the rest of the patrons, guess we should of brought their electronics & kept them in the corner some where rather than allowing them to interact with others. BTW, the other patrons seemed to really enjoy the children dancing given the smiles & comments. Thank you to the owner of this establishment for giving my grand children a taste of how unfair the real world can be. This is not a family friendly establishment & clearly I know he won't shut his doors because these (2) families will never go there again. Had we been able to enjoy dinner & drinks I imagine we would of had a pretty decent sized tab & our server who was very nice would of made a very decent tip as well, that being said if ya want to go there I suggest leave your children at home. Just a very, very disappointed grand mother. San Tan Flats is a very family friendly restaurant where children are encouraged to dance all they want which is where our next family fun day shall be. BTW, Tina one of the owners invited my son & his GF out for this Sunday funday the previous weekend while they were out there on a date night. Tina knows my sons GF and specifically ask her to bring the kids out as it had been a long time since she had seen the boys. Never again, my grand daughter begging her Daddy to go ask why she cannot dance is pathetic, makes it seem as though she was doing something wrong. I wish I could give this place a -10 rating. Wow were there a lot of angry reviews. Sorry about that. We have lived a couple of miles from the Hitching Post for almost 20 years. Things have changed. The first time we were there, broasted chicken was about all they had. Long interval until we went again, on a weekend night during snowbird season -- big mistake, couldn't get in the door which meant someone liked the place. (Went somewhere else. ) Not a lot of great places to eat in Apache Junction (we've pretty much tried them all) but hubby wanted to keep it local today, so we decided to try The Hitching Post at 11 am on a Wednesday. Good timing, as folks started swarming in after us. Our server got busy in a hurry but still managed to take care of us. Both had the pork tenderloin sandwich (which was not midwestern huge she warned us.) Everything was fine but the fries were the best I've had in quite a while. Almost gave 4 stars just on the fries. Somebody complained it was not a family-friendly place--what did they expect from a bar/dance hall? We're planning to go again real soon. read more

We didn't even eat because after buying drinks the server was a witch and told us we couldn't have any chairs on the dance floor( no signs posted & the actual dance floor would hold 6 small people tops! This place is a joke! Went there on a Monday afternoon after a nice hike in the Superstitions. The place was packed, and only had two servers. They charged 7.00 for a pint of beer...this isn't old town Scottsdale or Mill Ave, it's out in the sticks. The worst offense however is that they place a surcharge on credit card transactions! We stopped at the hitching post for a meal on an early Saturday evening. We sat in the outside patio area in the front of the restaurant. We had constant overwhelming noxious smells of sewer gases surrounding us the entire time. The staff were rude and unwilling to address the issue. Watch out when you go to this place, the owner/mgr is a total jerk. Food was okay, service was okay, but watch out when you pay by credit card. It is illegal to charge a surcharge when using credit cards, but the owner does this anyway. He charges 3.50% as a surcharge for using a credit card. This is illegal. He could give a discount for cash, but does not. I brought this up to him and he pointed to a small sign on the door with the surcharge information. This does not relieve him from the fact that it is illegal. read more

Went here cause the service at Filly's sucks real bad. So six of us get there at 5pm. So far 5 stars. We order drinks, still 5 stars. Order food no issues yet. They bring out the first couples food,two chicken orders, yum looks good. Now for -1 star, 20 minutes later the second couples food comes. Hmm, 15 minutes later my pizza comes out -1 star. My wife who orders chicken got nothing. So we ask, they say will get it right out. Half hour later, everyone is finished, and dozens of chicken orders come out....no chicken for her. Dear God...anyone that thinks this is good pizza has not had good pizza. We travel for a living, and spend three months every year (for the last 15 yrs.) in the Chicago area...and no offense to Becky m, but Chicago-style pizza IS deep-dish. Hitching Post is New York style, and a pretty bad representation at that. We gave both locations a try, had naked wings, broasted wings, broasted chicken, two different combo appetizer platters, and two different pizzas. Platters were average deep-fried Sysco fare...not bad, but nothing special. The broasted wings/chicken were cooked perfectly, but absolutely and utterly bland, tasted like little to no salt and pepper were used in the batter or the bird, let alone a nice 24 hour brine or buttermilk soak. The naked wings were atrocious, if you are a hot wing fan, avoid these like the plague, they're horrible. Pizzas were, again bland, bland, bland. They had cold beer, so I threw in a star for 'em. read more

A great night at the Hitching Post. Great food (fried Mushrooms, fried shrimp and naked chicken wings) and fantastic music with George Brunson on the electric guitar and fiddle. The people are really friendly and there is plenty of room on the dance floor. They even have micro rodeos at this establishment. This country bar was founded by two truck drivers from Pakistan (they did not drive before they came to America). This bar truly is the essence of the American dream. read more

One does not go to the Hitching Post for the food, they go for the atmosphere and the music. My grandparents live in Mesa over the winter months and they really like this place. Of all the places we visited, my grandfather could speak of nothing but how he needed to take us to The Hitching Post. The beers are fairly inexpensive for the area and there were some special pricing over the happy hour. The decor is western themed and cool and on Thursdays and Saturdays they have bull-riding out back. The free wifi was also appreciated. The Johnny Cash impersonator was very excellent although the music was a tad louder than desired. It was difficult to carry on a conversation with anyone farther than a few inches away. We went on a Friday and it was PACKED. You can make a reservation prior to 5pm and if you have a large group you will definitely want to do so! The pizza was honestly sub-par. The waitress got our order incorrect and then tried to correct it with a plain cheese pizza (and still charged us for the meat-loaded supreme price of the one we originally ordered). She volunteered to comp the price of the wrong order but did not follow through on that offer. The servers were in general very nice but were thoroughly overwhelmed. Be prepared to have to physically chase down a server for another round of drinks as they are too busy to stop by on a regular basis. Overall, the experience was fun but is not on my Must List for the Phoenix area. I hear there is a similar-themed place right around the corner with better food..... :) read more

This should happen more often Dog owners need to understand it's an eating establishment, not everyone wants a damn dog around where they are trying to eat. Placed a take out order on the way to lake. The gluten free pizza was yummy and original toppings. We got the Orient Express. Two reasons this is not a 5 star review, when I place the order the lady on the phone was not very friendly, and her attitude showed when we picked it up cause it was not too much better in person. The second reason is the pizza was only a 10 inch and no where online did it say size. We will go back cause the pizza was Awesome, plenty of parking (even for our boat), and although it was 2:00 pm on a Saturday they had live music, a dance floor, two bars, and 2 outdoor patios. read more

My husband and I regularly visit the hitching post when we are in town (we are from Canada). We loved the atmosphere and live music and quite often would gather our friends from Scottsdale to come along with us. HOWEVER on our last visit we received the most horrid service. We sat out on the patio and it was quite busy so no worries that maybe we had to wait a bit for service. We ordered a pizza before our friends arrived and waited. Long story short our friends came, ordered and finished their meal and left before we even received ours. The waitress explained our pizza was accidentally given to someone else. OK, no problem, told we were going to get a couple free drinks for the mistake. Meanwhile another friend arrived, he ordered his food and received his order before we got our pizza. Night fell and we moved into the bar from the patio. I told the waitress we were moving into the bar but I had to go to my motorcycle to grab something. Well needless to say I think she thought we were running out from our huge 25 dollar bill and she chased after saying ``are you going to take care of this`` I explained yet again, yes we`ve moved inside, Im just grabbing something from the bike. So by this time I have two waitress`outside, making sure I was coming back in and following me back inside the bar where our friend was clearly waiting. Once we sat she demanded we take care of the bill because she wanted to be finished with us. NICE. We were not once disrespectful, drunk or disorderly to maybe somehow warrant this response from this waitress. My husband went to speak to the owner of the bar and his response was `Ì am late for a meeting, come by next time and I will take care of you`` I am not one to complain usually and everywhere we have frequented in Arizona has been amazing service so I am quite shocked and disappointed in the hitching post. We will never be back, will never recommend anyone to go. It was a simple fix on the owners part to rectify the situation and he chose not to. We never received a free drink, which really was not the point. Simply not treating us like 1) we were going to dash out on a miniscule tab and 2) apologizing for terrible service would`ve sufficed. The people next to us borrowed one chair from a table of people who are not using them and we're called effing assholes by management. Nobody had a problem with this except for the manager who can't manage his team but wants to make his clientele feel like the assholes he's accusing us of being. Never have I ever been treated this way at a watering hole / dive bar. It was packed with tourists who don't any better than to pass on this crap bar. Dealing with tourist, I can see why the wait stuff could get frustrated but I did nothing or anyone in my party to warrant this behavior whatsoever. The next place we went to we sat next to several people that said "stay out of there no matter what , we've been yelled at for doing nothing as well and the food will make you sick."
