    Piping hot mushroom

I look forward to the Hide-A-Way with every visit to Long Lake. They have the most amazing onion rings and fried mushrooms I have ever eaten. I try to find anything comparable wherever I travel and dine, and no place as yet can compete with their delicious batter-dipped morsels. Their frosted mugs of cold draft beer are perfect after a day playing on the lake.

Stopped for a quick dinner bite. The hoagies on the homemade buns were fantastic. Food was delicious.

Icky food. I got the Reuben and it was salty and greasy. On the plus side, there wasn't much meat on it.

We've been wanting to try this place for some time but they are often full. We got early…read morereservations (parties of 6 or more only) and arrived on time to our table all ready. There are two sides - the bar side and a side with lots of seating. The bar side has seating as well but minimal. We sat on the side with all the seating at a long high top. The chairs had backs so it was very comfortable. They have lots of choices on the menu - I chose the Lemon Herb Ravioli, which sounded light and amazing. Unfortunately, it is swimming in a lemon-y olive oil which ruins the dish completely. If they just drizzled the lemon oil over the pasta, it would be a chef's kiss. I would recommend asking for that on the side - then you can control how much you want on the dish. I also got their "tots" on the side. These aren't your typical tator tots...they are homemade shredded potatoes scooped and fried. My cousin got the same items and when the tots came, it appeared they overly fried one of the orders so just split them up between our two orders. I ate the good ones and my husband sent back the bad ones to have them replaced. They did so without any question, which was nice. My husband had the Gouda Burger with Truffle Fries. He said it was the best burger he'd ever had. The truffle fries were excellent - served with garlic aioli. Highly recommend! So, while my dish was disappointing due to the amount of oil it was swimming in, the pasta and vegees on top tasted good, the staff were friendly and accommodating, and everyone else liked their meals (burgers and fish & chips) so I'm not going to give them a low rating. I'd like to come back and try something different on the menu.

It was wrong. They got my order wrong, which is fine, it happens... but he refused to let me send it back and just get a refund. He seemed to have an attitude about it, appalled that I would even ask such a thing. It's not like I had eaten most of it and then requested a refund. It was visibly wrong the moment it arrived. He said, again with attitude, "Well, we made it and you payed for it, so..." Aren't such payments supposed to be on a little bit of a good faith system? So fine, whatever, he walked away even as I was beginning to explain that the way I ordered was for medical reasons, but I could see I wasn't going to achieve anything by talking more. We attempted to eat, and... it was okay. Nothing notable, but not gross either. As we ate, an elderly server/waitress comes over and starts lecturing us, telling us that they dont serve pizza there. Which we just got and we're eating. After a few moments, she finally made it clear that we weren't allowed to EAT the pizza there. The pizza that was on their menu. No signs proclaiming this esoteric rule, but between her words and condescending tone, we were starting to get rather upset now, so we just picked up and left. Terrible place. Don't give them your business. The small store in front, attached to them, was fine. I dont know if it is the same owners or they share the building or what, but we had no problems with the shop in front.

Every one we ordered was yummy. I chose a build your own pizza, it was so good. The rest of the table went with sandwiches, chicken, appetizers, & soup- all were happy with their choices. The kids ordered up a variety of mocktails. They loved them. There is a little ice cream shack out back with hand dipped cones. The view is amazing of Grand Lake. The ambiance is cozy & modern with an up north feel. The staff was super friendly. We will be back!
