This is a wonderful little place for breakfast in Alpena. The food is excellent and the staff is super friendly. My girls all had the blueberry pancakes and they were big and enjoyable. You also can't go wrong with Plath's meats. Great breakfast. read more

We waited almost an hour for our food to be served, but it was delicious and worth the wait. They were very busy - when we walked in, we took the last table in the place. It's not the cleanest restaurant in town, so don't look down at the floor or on the edges of the wall tiles, trust me. Use the bathroom somewhere else if you can hold it. But, trust me the food was delicious and the plates and silverware were clean. Our server was hustling - everyone in the building was working hard. There was one cook - he was really hustling!! (Be certain to not miss his tip jar!) Two thirds of our group had breakfast food and the hash browns were out of this world! read more

This is a perfect example of your typical "Up-North" diner with all the warmth and charm you can expect from folks..."Up North" away from all the crap down south. ;). Came here with my Brother a few weekends ago while visiting our sister and so glad we did. The food was beyond perfect...albeit we were starving, everything we ordered was amazing. The toast, perfect. The Eggs, perfect. The bacon...god-like. The pancake...I'm running out adjectives but let's just say I needed a moment after my first bite. They lay those babies out on the same grill they grill everything else on...which is why, that pancake was amazing. Light, fluffy, but most importantly...crazy delicious! I'm in Alpena visiting my family. My dad drove up from Port Huron to meet for breakfast and asked me where I'd like to go. I checked out the reviews for a few different places and North Coney Island's were the best. We got a booth when we arrived and they were pretty packed, but our waitress was very attentive. It took a while for our food to get out since there was just the one cook, but it was worth the wait. You know how when you go out to restaurants for breakfast and they bring you toast that is only partially toasted and kind of flimsy? Not here. The toast was toasted to perfection! I had corned beef hash and eggs and it was so delicious and very reasonably priced. I'll definitely be back! read more

They have the corned beef hash patties that taste homemade.their French toast is the best in town.

Just adding a 4th star because of Alpena and it's the only place I *try* to hit up when back in Alpena Grimey and very old fahsioned, Weird you'd expect to see this place downtown in some city, not in a strip mall in Northern Michigan. They do make good greasy coney dogs and it is fun to watch them cook everything on the griddle in front of you. Everything otherI use to eat there at luch when I worked at Glen's Market across the plaza. Prolly the only place in A-town I try to get to when I am in A-Town. read more

Very great place to go. Not too far out of the way and very exceptionally cheap! The best pie I'm town, if not the whole tri-county area! The service you get here is incredible, even my first time going it felt like my mom asked and made me exactly what I wanted. I reccomend stopping in and grabbing a pie before/after you explore this great town. read more

After eggs, toast, and coffee on a whim last week on my way into work I decided to come back with my friend Lu to give their breakfast a real try. Because I love a good American style breakfast at 1pm . We were not disappointed to find out that the service was super fast and friendly. They whipped up our food on grills right behind the counter where everyone can see. The veggie omelettes were not only delicious but they we're as fluffy as the clouds if heaven on E. Crispy hash browns, hot coffee, buttery warm French toast and syrup. And so much more. Not to mention the portions are more than generous in my opinion. Coney is old and faded, sitting in a strip mall next door to the social security office in a dead area of town. I'm sure to many it's grungy and outdated, but to us today it was a nice quaint and cozy Cafe to sit down at and grub. So even with the elderly inhabitants staring at us the whole time like we were a couple athiest dykes from outer space, that didn't affect our experience at all. (Part of Alpena's charm no doubt.) So even though I can't vouch for the hot dogs or burgers due to my vegetarianism, the breakfast is enough to make this a cool little joint. read more

I love this place. The owners are so nice, food always hot, drinks always full, and love the diner feel. Love a double chili dog platter, comes with a giant helping of made when you order french fries. It really is a great place- much better than McD or BK. Give it a shot, you won't be disappointed. Probably the best hash browns and bacon in Michigan. Food cooked fresh right in front of you on the griddle and done right. I have eaten at a lot of places but this place is by far my favorite for breakfast. Burgers are lean and fresh with the meat from a local butcher shop.
