Had a wonderful dinner on Friday 8/15/14. We came without a reservation and had to wait quite a bit for a table. However, the staff was friendly and attentive. While outside a server working the area checked in on us and even brought my husband a drink. Once seated we enjoyed delicious steaks cooked to perfection and wonderful sides. Once again, staff checked on us periodically, without being intrusive. The manager came to our table to greet us and check on the service. Music began around 9 pm in the bar area. Went here with the entire family when we were down visiting relatives. We had a large party and had to be put in the front room because of our size. It was FREEZING in the room. We sat at the bar for lunch on a Sunday and were delighted with the service, food and overall experience. Garlic Shrimp pasta contained 3 large shrimp over pasta with the right amount of garlic sauce and 2 chunks of garlic bread for dunking! My Mixed Grill Combo, steak tips, bbq chicken and 1/2 rack of baby back ribs all were cooked as ordered, all delicious. My meal included a house salad and (real) french fries. I asked for some rolls but they ran out however our bartender went out of her way a served me garlic bread. A good value, $60.00 for 2 entrees and 3 glasses of wine. Happily tipped 20%. read more

Came here for a bridal shower and was impressed with the Haversham. Despite the pouring rain outside, it was warm and cozy inside. We had one of the smaller rooms since I think there were only 20 of us. The brunch buffet was delicious. Loved the French toast especially. The mimosas were strong and they kept them flowing. Service was very attentive and quick. One server especially was fantastic (wish I got his name!!) but all I can say is my whole table was smitten with him, especially my aunt lol. My husband and I wanted dinner at a low key place close to the bed & breakfast we were staying at. This place was the perfect match. Tons of TVs everywhere with a variety of games on. I ordered the French Onion soup, which had a nice mix of cheeses on the top, perfectly browned. The broth was very refreshing, and the crouton was a perfect medium size so as not to distract from the rest of the soup. I had the Allagash Ale, which was nice. My husband ordered a tuna melt which he enjoyed. The service was attentive. The set up of the place is a little weird. There's a mixture of high top tables and regular tables. It looks like you're in someone's house that was haphazardly turned into a restaurant. A bit awkward, but the food is good and you can easily watch any game you want with a decent beer, so that in itself makes it a worthwhile place to go. read more

I've been by this place many times in the summer, always thinking that it was a high priced restaurant. Recently received a gift card from a coworker and what an enjoyable meal we had. We went on July 4th and at first almost thought the place was closed as we were on the side where they host events. We sat on the left side dining room and server was very nice and talkative. Food arrived promptly and portions were adequate. For five people pricing was less than expected. I will be back this summer before closing the beach trailer. read more

Yum! The buffalo tenders were spicy but not too over powering. The blackened chicken pasta was delicious and the but on tips were decent. I don't remember what the name was but it was basically a cinnamon sugar fried doe with ice cream and it was so good! The server even brewed us a pot of fresh decafe which we so nice of him. Came here with MY GF and a couple of friends this past Saturday to catch the Bruin's game.. Our friends got there about 15-20 minutes prior to us and put our names in for a table.. We walked in PACKED! So.. There are flat screen TV'S everywhere.. but really not much space to speak of.. if you do not: (A) Have a table or (B) have a seat the relatively small bar.. We had to stand in that awkward area where you are ALWAYS in other people's way, or the wait staff.. We could see a nice sized flat screen TV but standing is not what you want to do while watching your team play... The hostess told us there are MANY people ahead of you and we were already half way though the first period.. I was getting annoyed.. However, (and, again, did NOT get his name) clearly the manager (maybe owner) came over to us and asked us if we would like to go down the lower function area where there are other TV'S, it is quieter and a full bar? Ah, yes please.. We were basically the only ones at the bar, watching my Bruins, awesome! That was so incredibly great of the owner/manager to offer us that!! A+ my friend... They came and got us about 20 minutes later and our table was ready.. It is basically a sports fan's dream where we sat.. High top table, surrounded by dozens of other Bruin fans, but about 6 flat screen TVS.. Our waiter was super efficient, knowledgeable and just great.. I ordered clam chowder which was hot, creamy, loaded with clams it was delicious.. I also ordered the chicken parm which was fantastic.. Breaded nicely, cooked to perfection, not overloaded with cheese and sauce, very good.. This place is fantastic, man they have it right... Just be prepared to wait.. But it is so worth it.. We hit up the Haversham Tavern after having a terrible experience at another establishment down the road. We were Thirsty, Hungry, and Irritable by the time we walked in the door but all that quickly dissipated! There was a large group of us but we were quickly seated and our drink orders taken. Drinks were cold and refreshing and we quickly ordered food (did I mention we were STARVING after waiting almost 3 hours elsewhere). I ordered the Turkey Avocado burger but mentioned to my friends that I had had the clam chowder and clam cakes here before so they ordered those. Another friend ordered the French Onion soup. My Husband ordered the Ribs - he usually does :-) . Everything came out quickly, hot, and smelling delicious! My burger was great - big and juicy with a thick slice of tomato and plenty of green leafy lettuce - the sauce they make for this burger is YUMMY, creamy and spicy. Michaels' ribs were tender and just the right amount of sauce. Our friends agreed that the clam chowder was great as well. After dinner we ordered desert - Cinnamon dippers and a big brownie sundae which were shared by the entire table. These deserts were to die for! The Haversham Taverns Ashley made our day! My wife and I were seated at a high top in the bar area. The place wasn't even half full. Plenty of wait staff walking around. Walking right past us with no acknowledgement. After waiting 15 minutes without service, we decided to walk out. If they were busy we could have understood the wait, but for no one to even stop by our table to say "I'll be right with you" was just rude. We won't go again, which is unfortunate because we live 5 minutes away. read more

My husband and I had been given a gift certificate. We went on a Friday night around 6 PM. Had to wait 15-20 min for a table which was fine. Our waitress was fine and tried to make things as right as she was able. I ordered the scallop special. The food came and my scallops were raw. I asked the waitress to send them back, which she did. She told us she would bring out bread, "as soon as it is ready". The bread came and had obviously been frozen. Some was warm, the rest was frozen. We sent that back as well. My scallops came back and it was obviously the same plate I sent back, that had just been stuck back under the broiler. The scallops were cooked, but the edges were burned. The waitress told me she had given me a new, hot, baked potato. Great! But now, the broccoli, which was a side dish was ice cold. We had to ask for a discount on the food and the waitress even said, "All I can do is bring you want they give me". No apologies, no trying to make up for the poor kitchen service. We won't be going again. Obviously, the kitchen can't handle a busy Friday night crowd. Sad. read more

This place is lovely. We just went for lunch and shared the stuffies(clams, onion, breadcrumbs, peppers) and clam chowder with 3 clam cakes appetizers. Everything was delicious. There were two large sized stuffies so it was good to split. We also had the fish sandwich which was so fresh and flaky it was practically falling apart when you bit into it. My husband said if he knew how good it was going to be he would have ordered one for each of us. The fries that came with the sandwich were also tasty. They were thick, crispy and had some type of seasoning to them. There was an extensive drink menu and a large selection of draft beers including bass, two roads, yuengling, Sam Adams, Narragansett, and probably 10 others that I can't remember, More local options as well. We will definitely come back here. There is also a really pretty room to rent out for parties or weddings right next to the restaurant. This is a great place. I think the reviews at 3.5 are undeserving and was surprised to see it rated this low. Try it for yourself and I think you'll be surprised. We generally love the food and the service; but the "hostess" we AVOID. She embarrassed an employee who was trying to be helpful to us as we ended up leaving. We understand "waiting our turn," but there was no one up front waiting and it didn't look that busy. She told the young man that others were first and turned all the heads in the bar pointing out his "mistake." If she had ANY sense, she would have quietly taken care of this. If she had done her job, the people at the bar would have been seated there and the bar would have been free for us to sit. We often prefer to sit at the bar anyway. This woman should be taking etiquette and customer service courses. read more

Great for groups, can be a little noisy- the rooms kind of echo in the main eating area- they have a lot of TVs for sports so people get pretty rowdy during games. Overall, ok. The front room is more restaurant with low tables and a wall in between this room and the bar area. It's a bit quieter...usually with older diners. The bar area is a little more hopping and a bit louder. A good beer selection for it's area, the apps were pretty good as well. The entrée I had, Teriyaki Chicken, was an average entrée. Average isn't an insult, I got two chicken breasts with two sides for a reasonable price. The chicken was a little overdone, but was still tasty and was priced reasonably for what I received. If you are a foodie looking for wow factor, this isn't it....but if you are looking for good food at a reasonable price, this is a good spot to land. read more

Nice looking place and casual atmosphere. We went there for lunch. I had the lobster roll and I really liked it. Their homemade chips are really great. A lot of tvs. A lot. The service was....awkward. There weren't many people there yet they squeezed those of who were there into one corner making it hard to get in and out. There were plenty of people working there but our food took a while to arrive and while we did get asked if we wanted drink refills, we weren't asked at the right time when we needed it. read more

Went to The Haversham based upon Yelp reviews. This was our first time in Westerly. I forgot what I ordered the first time we visited which was on a Wednesday night. The manager told us that they served prime rib on Fridays and Saturdays. So we went back that Friday for the Prime Rib which was very, very good. There are TV monitors everywhere with different sporting events. The place is typically crowded and the noise level is high. I was happy with our meals and the service was also very good. We will definitely go back if we find ourselves in the Westerly area again. read more

We were looking for a place to watch the game and having no luck when we saw their sign advertising $9 wings with NFL games as we drove by what looked to be an upscale event facility. We didn't expect much but it turns out this was a great place to watch the game. The facilities were beautiful and the bar area was comfortable with great viewing of the several large screen TVs. The food was good and priced reasonably and the staff attentive even though the house was full. It all seemed out of place with the upscale atmosphere of the surroundings but it worked. What a great place. On a recent Friday visit with a party of 12, we soon found out why this place is a local hot spot. If you can't find a beer or wine to choose from you aren't a fan of either. We started our dinners off with incredible soups (chowder, chili, and the soup of the day steak tip vegetable). Several at our table chose to go with salads ranging from garden to mini Cesar and each was a hit. Our meals ranged from chicken parmesan to sword fish. The meals were served as ordered, hot, and in a timely manner. For this we applaud our server. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because the place was freezing cold on a cool night. The air conditioning was working overtime. Several at our table and other tables had the same reaction, wow its cold in here. With that said come one come all to this local hot spot. This is probably my husband and I's favorite go to resturant in town. We have come time and time again without any issues with the food or service. The Cobb Salad and dual Meal with ribs and Chicken are the best. The sangria is amazing both white and red. The only downfall of the place is that the bar itself is much too small only seating about 6. read more

I hosted a birthday party for about 30 family for my aunt's 90th birthday. The Haversham gave us a sunny and spacious private room that had tables set beautifully for our event. John, the manager, helped me set a menu of 5 lunch choices that everyone loved! Even my picky husband LOVED his lobster roll. The very generous loaded appetizer plates serves family style to each table were delicious and full of favorites like potato skins, mutz sticks, chicken fingers and coconut shrimp. My aunt was so happy and the relatives (ages 5-90) all enjoyed a great lunch and party. The two servers were just perfect! Good service and they didn't rush us. We know the Haversham is probably a favorite for everyone already, but I can't say enough about how great the party went and thanks to John and the two servers for helping to make it great!! read more

Eight of us ladies went for lunch last month and everyone raved about her food. I had the portabello sandwich with grilled vegetables and two bites into it I ordered another one to take home to my husband. Across from me, a friend custom-ordered a lobster salad dish, and next to me, a really good Italian cook was thrilled with her pasta dish. My parents live approximately 10 minutes from the Haversham Tavern, so we have often frequented this establishment. The atmoshphere is casual and the property lovely. The food is OK, my mother loves the coconut shrimp. However, we recently learned from our waitress on our last visit (March 2013), that there are several items that are NOT in-house prepared, frozen?? The coconut shrimp, onion rings, and the clam chowder (really, Haversham - this is Rhode Island) are few of the menu items that according to the waitress, are not prepared in-house. Oh well, I guess if it tastes good -- who's the wiser.... Also, a reminder to Haversham - it is the locals who help keep afloat businesses in the off-season !!! read more

The Habersham needs to decide what it wants to be. The place is beautiful and the area needs a good restaurant that you can count on for good food and a repeatable experience. It is a beautiful restaurant and you expect an elegant meal. Out front there are beautiful gardens. We would love to be able to have a drink and appetizer on the lawn or in the gazebo while we wait for a table. However, they are trying to serve dinner out there which looked like a challenge for their wait staff. When we did get a table inside, the noise was unbelievable (the acoutiscs are terrible!!!) and the atmosphere was a sports bar. NOT what we expected or were looking for. The food was average and the wait staff didn't know the basics of serving people. They had an appetizer of crab claws - could not get any crab out of the ridiculously small claw tips!! Swordfish was fresh, but very plain. Really disappointed. Beautiful place but needs management that need knows what they are doing and what they want to be. read more
