This place fits the bill under both categories! Many years ago, before I moved to Worcester, my friend made me follow an Instagram account that was basically carb porn. Day after day, I'd check out their bizarre and scrumptious cupcake flavors, fantasizing about the day that I'd make it there. Back then, Worcester felt like a such a pain to get to that it took me a while to get there. But when I finally found this tiny little place tucked away on Water St, it was like that moment in Willy Wonka where Charlie is aghast at all the sugary delights around him. It was every frosted fantasy come to life. I try not to go TOO often, because I don't want to be condemned to a life of stretchy pants. But when I do go, it's a serious struggle not to try every creative confection in their case. Their treats are INCREDIBLE.

Magic cookie bars are one of my favorite sweet treats so I had to buy one (at a high cost of $7!) It's heavy and dense but the flavor... the crust was inconsistent. Too thick and too think at points. The taste... it tastes like an M&M (with a slight hint of coconut.) I could have saved myself a lot of money just buying a bag of M&M's. But I don't like M&M's! See the problem? (And there were small M&M's on the top which is ok but it was overpowering.) I also had to try something cupcake related right? My daughter got a huge slice of funfetti cake. I had one layer of the cake. I can share the frosting was thick and dense. I like it sweet and melts in my mouth. Thus was not that. The cake itself was dense too. I was my cake fluffy. It's a good bakery, stuff is always fresh and the flavors in each of their cupcakes, muffins, breads, and other misc bakery items is present and forward. They know that they are good, and charge accordingly. Given that there's no direct competition in a 10 mile radius (and I would argue even past that 10 mile radius the pickings are slim) the price is justifiable for the quality you get. As someone who treks a lot around the state, I find that there are many bakeries that do similar if not better items for comparable if not lower prices. But to ask someone to drive 30-60 minutes just to get something a couple bucks cheaper that's tastes about the same? It's a hard sale. I will say that Luanne's is the best in that area of the state, not including the small boutique places that are well off the beaten path. I still come here for the view and ambiance, but I don't order much of their food.

We were all very happy with the outcome; they were moist and up there with the best cupcakes I've had in a while. They also have gluten free, vegan, mini cupcakes, and cupcakes kits. They were indeed for . . . Later. I bought 5 different flavors to share with my family. I bought two lemon, because I definitely wanted to try the lemon. I also bought a Chocolate Peanut Butter, a Biscoff,, a Salted Caramel Butter Pecan, and a Strawberry. I tried the lemon and the Salted Caramel. The cake and icing in both were fresh, and had good flavor and texture. The flavors were accurate to description. There was a small reservoir of flavoring that extended from the bottom of the icing layer into the cake. That's always a nice touch in my book. My one note rating-wise, is that the cupcakes were not as ornate as the top tier CT cupcake places I've been to. Still tasty though.
