Extremely frustrated patron here. Walked in (no reservation) and was told 20 minute wait for party of 2. Completely understand that we had a wait...again, didn't have a reservation. Gave the lady at the front desk my cell number and was told "We'll call you when the table is ready." Waited 25 minutes outside then decided to go check inside. "We're clearing tables" I was told. Then waited another half hour inside. A party of 6 walked in, no reservation, and was seated in about 15 minutes. Will NOT be returning. read more

Wow! What a beautiful stay! Ivy growing up the outside of the buildings, windows open to floor level with lush greens coming in during breakfast. The pool area is beyond nice, the rooms are lovely, charming and clean. You get your own deck and the gift shop is more like shopping in a boutique downtown. I have to say I am very impressed with the place, the class of the staff and one of the owners, Sharon who is always on sight. There is a playground for children too. Besides that, I love how quick of a drive it is South Hampton, and how close it is to other beaches and restaurants. Will stay again. read more

I understand that there is a staffing shortage everywhere on the planet right now but some things are still unacceptable. I shouldn't have to wait 15 minutes to even be acknowledged because a waitress is too busy chatting up her friends on the other side of the bar. I also shouldn't have to ask for a glass of water when being told my food will be at least another half hour. These are egg dishes and pancakes, not extravagant dinners. The food itself however was very good, but not for $120. Beautiful place aesthetically but in essence A typical tourist trap. read more

Best brunch in the Hamptons, in fact I'd go as far as to say one of the best brunches anywhere. You cant go wrong with any of the perfectly cooked egg dishes, my favorite being the eggs benedict. They always have varied specials that provide enough diversity to keep coming back. Eating brunch at the maid is like taking a mini vacation, a vacation I try to take as many weekends as possible during the summer season. best maxta p read more

Cute, cute, cute. This hotel is entirely too cute. I stayed here with some friends for a recent bachelorette party. We knew we wanted to stay in the Hamptons, but because it's, you know, the Hamptons, we figured we might be able to afford a shed with a moth-eaten blanket on a rickety cot--two cots if we were lucky. But then we found the Hampton Maid. Cute. And somehow affordable (especially if you have four people to split the cost like we did)! Our hotel room was like a rustic cottage in the woods. We had our own deck with a table and chairs out back. The floors inside were hardwood, as was the vaulted ceiling. The beds were high with thick, soft, white comforters. The shower--well, as the bachelorette put it, no one needs a shower that huge unless you're planning on doing naughty things with a large number of people. We were shocked at our good fortune. How did we luck into this? (Tip: When you go to the Web site, it sounds super expensive to stay there on the weekends. That's because it's confusing. It lists the per-night rate for weeknights, but for weekends, it's a two-night minimum, so it lists the rate for two nights.) There was a small but nice pool and a playground for the kiddos. An added benefit is the superb breakfast. Yum! I got a fresh bowl of fruit, bacon, and delicious, delicious pancakes. It's a popular breakfast place in town, but if you're a guest, they give you priority seating if you call ahead. The Hampton Maid is so cute that I could happily live there. I wish I could say that about every hotel. read more

You'd be hard pressed to find a better breakfast than the ones cooked up every summer morning at the Maid. While pricey, the quality of the food makes it well worth it. Expect a full house if you come later in the morning, but they open super early, so get there as soon as you can. Their cinnamon french toast is to die for, as are their perfectly seasoned home fries. Service is always friendly and attentive. They have a touristy gift shop with some amusing and unexpected items. I can't speak for the hotel element - in all my years in HB, I've never seen a room, or even known anyone who's stayed here ... The Maid is definitely worth a visit if you're cruising through the Hamptons, looking for some solid eats. read more

New Yorkers escape to the Hamptons on those hot and humid summer weekends - the season starting with Memorial Day, which is exactly when we hit the Hamptons, too. When searching for a place to stay I stumbled upon the Hampton Maid and was immediately taken by their website and the easy online reservation system - no frills, no hidden extras, at a good cost. Easy peasy. A few days prior to arrival I received a reminder on first-name basis and "looking forward to having you" which I found extremely nice. We had no trouble finding the place - directly on Montauk Highway, but set back from the road so not noisy, as one would think. Check-in was - again - easy peasy, with the lovely lady explaining that breakfast would be getting busy (Memorial Day...) so we should call ahead as they take walk-ins and do not like to have their guests wait. Also, there would be complimentary tea or coffee to take away from the office in the morning. We found our room to be overlooking the garden and pool, with an original windmill next door where one could also stay. The bed was an amazing, huge four poster, the room itself clean and cosy, with large bathroom and shower, and a nice balcony. Breakfast the next morning went exactly as predicted: we were told that we could come down in 15 mins. As my morning run went on a bit longer we actually came down 30 mins later - enjoyed a very friendly welcome and were shown to our table immediately. This is something I am not used to - in Germany one would be scolded, first and foremost - for not arriving on time.. The breakfast menu was brunch - as it was Memorial Day - so the normal breakfast menu did not apply. Brunch was your breakfast platter of your choice with berries or watermelon salad and hot drinks. Amazing pancakes, very friendly service... heaven.. I subsequently had pancakes each morning for the rest of our stay (mango pancakes or wild main blueberry pancakes...please take me back....) and was grateful for my beautiful jogging path on the beach each morning ;-)) If you are looking for last minute presents the motel also features a gift shop with something for everyone - to take the beach back home... Can only highly recommend the Hampton Maid and will be back! read more

I used to work at the Maid (a looong time ago) - anyone from H.B. either did, or knows someone else who did, spend a summer bussing, waiting tables or working on the housekeeping or grounds crew. I've actually never seen one of their hotel rooms but know they have very nice accommodations. The restaurant is a classic staple for the Hamptons - and offers one of the best breakfasts around. The food is pricey for breakfast, but it's all fresh and made to order so you won't be disappointed. Most of the staff have worked there for years (decades?) and come back every summer to do their thing. I love the breakfast platters for sharing a little bit of everything! And they make some ahhhhmazing corned beef hash. If you can try a special, they are usually deliciously wonderful, so go for it. While the menu is a great breakfast/brunch menu, it's a bonus that they open early (like 7 a.m. early) so you can grab breakfast well before the beach rush happens. Head over and enjoy it -- if you can sit outside or along the wall facing the parking lot, try to; you can see the Shinnecock Bay from the seats in this area. PS - I heard from a reputable source that many of the "antiques" in the gift shop are a bit of a crock so don't pay for it unless you can genuinely tell you're getting the real deal. But they also have some really cool non-antique stuff in the shop -- as a little kid, I always loved walking through it after we had breakfast. And going to play on the playground! If you have kids, go find the playground and let them burn off steam while you're waiting for your meal, or afterward while you're trying to digest all that goodness you just consumed. read more

My parents took me here as a kid/teenager but I went there twice in the past 48 hours as I was craving french toast. We were able to get right in for breakfast around 11am, no wait. Nice that it's a big room plus the outside seating. Really nice staff. I had the cinnamon swirl french toast with strawberries. YUM. They were delicious and the berries were extremely fresh. The orange juice was fresh as well. Adorable gift shop. Overall, really enjoy this place. read more

The place is incredible. Can't say anything bad about it. Stayed there on very short notice, the front desk staff (Colleen in this case) went above and beyond what is normally asked in regards to service. I was in a very stressful situation and she, and some of the other staff, could not have been more helpful. The room had so much charm, quiet, clean beyond a fault ( and you have no concept how picky I am). It was truly delightful and I will be sad to leave. I will definitely recommend to friends, and hope to return. Loved the porch, the safety (single woman stayed by myself) and never had a moment of doubt. Really really loved it and just stumbled on to it. read more

I chose this restaurant because of the location, price (more about that later), and good reviews. The food was just okay. I had the cinnamon swirl french toast, which was nothing to write home about. It seemed like they used slices from a regular loaf of bread from the grocery store, not say, brioche. I had to ask for the syrup, which in a vacuum would not be a big deal but it was another instance of disappointment. The mug for my tea was dirty. While waiting for the waitress, I noticed that there was an entire tray full of mugs. Almost ALL of them were dirty. Another disappointment. My friend wanted to order the Eggs Benedict but since she doesn't eat pork, asked to substitute it with salmon. She was told it wasn't possible. She ended up ordering the cold breakfast (bagels, salmon). She said it was a big better than okay but she wasn't happy that the price was the same as the eggs benedict. About the price, on the website for the restaurant/inn, the prices look quite reasonable. When we arrived (on Sunday by the way), we received the Prix Fixe menu ($24.50 per entree with tea or coffee included). There is NOTHING on the website that says they use the Prix Fixe menu on Sundays. Disappointed and blindsided. While, the Prix Fixe menu is available on the site, it is listed as a holiday menu. Maybe Sundays are considered holidays in the Hamptons? I think they should be more clear about this on the website. Lastly, after receiving our food, our waitress didn't check on us to see how we liked the food or if we needed anything additional. If you're looking for a breakfast that you can easily whip up at home but want to pay an exorbitant price for it, this is the place for you. Otherwise, I say go somewhere else. read more

Pretty tasty brunch! A group of us went out to celebrate in the Hamptons and this was on a list of must tries. I will give them credit we arrived with a party of 16 and they were seasoned with service. No one wanted anything. Our waitress was spot on about taking care of us in a prompt and courteous fashion. I ordered the filet mignon and it was a bit over cooked. The fruit was good and so were the fried eggs. The coffee was made to perfection. I would definitely go back. read more

Heard this place was delish so myself and 3 friends (as a reference, we are culturally diverse) tried to get a table for 4 on a Sunday at 830am. The hostess who greeted us turned us down since we did not have reservations. With that in mind, the place was completely empty with only 4 tables seated inside and a couple of tables seated outside. That said, 2 people (what appeared as cisgendered white folks) walked in right behind us (who also did not have reservations) and she sat them down immediately. This didn't sit well with me, so I went back to get some answers from the hostess after seeing this; she blatantly responded "yes, because they're 2 and not 4". Furthermore, I understand we did not have reservations, but if you can manage to sit a table top of 2, it's extremely simple to split a party of four at two different tables, or offer the bar which is where the overflow is meant to be seated per the hostess. Being in the food industry, this is appalling and not any way to be treating a paying customer(s). My recommendation is to have your staff trained properly in customer service, have some empathy training, and learn to respect people of color. The lack of consideration and common courtesy shown from the hostess is discriminatory. read more

Our Airbnb host suggested we try out the Hampton Maid for breakfast since it was local favorite. We were not disappointed. I ordered a mimosa that absolutely hit the spot. What a charming little place to grab a reasonably priced brunch in the Hamptons! I try to stop into the Hampton Maid whenever I am in town and craving a pile of well-prepared but unfancy breakfast. It is a downright charming restaurant, and I think the staff has been all the same people for years. The waits for tables during summer weekend mornings are expectedly arduous. However, stopping in on a weekday or during the offseason usually gets you seated promptly. They brew great coffee, cook eggs to specifications, fill omelets with delicious fresh ingredients, and turn a pretty perfect pancake. All of these things should be par for the course at any brunch establishment, but The Hampton Maid has the unique distinction of never getting any of them wrong. read more

When I was a kid, I remember having these wonderful breakfasts in wood clad restaurants up at Lake George and I got that same feeling at The Hampton Maid. Warm and airy, this place is a premiere breakfast spot. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. My personal favorite was the Summer Eggs Benedict, which they simply add a slice of tomato to the mix. It sported a truly perfect hollandaise sauce, so good I had to order a side of toast not waste any. My only reservation were the prices, which run more towards East Hampton then Hampton Bays. ($3 coffees, $36 breakfast for the two of us) But overall, well worth it for the food and ambiance. read more

We stayed the the Hampton Maid for two nights and were very disappointed for the price we paid. The room we were assigned had an outside entrance that required significant stairs to access. This was not a problem for us but I was surprised that we were not asked if stairs would be a problem when we booked. The room was a nice size and the bed and linens were good but the the old brown carpet looked liked it should have been replaced many years ago. The room smelled very musty and I believe the smell probably came from the old carpet or the old furniture. There is a refrigerator but no freezer. When my husband wanted ice for a drink, he found the ice maker empty except for bugs. I called the office and they said they could not have ice because of COVID. We went to the marina to get ice and they had disposable gloves for anyone to use when getting ice. COVID adjustment. There are no microwaves in the room. When we had dinner leftovers, we were told we could rent a microwave but there were none available. I have never experienced a hotel where you have to rent a microwave. The pool was closed due to COVID. The grounds are lovely but that did not make up for the other shortcomings. read more

Wish I could give this 4.5 stars instead of 4. Positives: The breakfast, you have got to try it. They leave tables available for their guests, but normally there is a wait for non-guests. The room we stayed in was well furnished, clean and had a great view. We loved the porch and just being out on the lawn! The staff is very efficient, courteous and helpful. I had a milk emergency for my baby, and they were gracious enough to supply me with a 1/2 gallon of milk. It's a ten minute drive to Southampton and Coopers Beach. All great! Negatives: not many, but I wish they supplied some utensils, tea and coffee in the room. They do give you a carafe of coffee or tea in the morning, but if you have a family with kids, you know that having some plates and utensils is a must. That said, I went to the reception and they gave me what I needed. The beds in out room were full so it was uncomfortable for two people to sleep in the same bed. But the couch was comfortable enough. We will be back. Thanks for a lovely weekend! read more

Wanted to give more stars but the experience was very uneven. Room was fine (pricey but we did get a new clean room), the grounds are pretty and the breakfast was delicious. Repeat: food was yummy! HOWEVER, the staff was mostly unpleasant, stiff and not welcoming. Restaurant front desk person was sooooo unfriendly. It almost felt like we were bothering her by asking for a table for 2. Waitresses were ok but very tense. (Maybe working conditions are grim?) Cleaning women seemed ok too but again, they seemed very uptight. Hotel check-in person was actually nice. She may have been the only person to smile during our entire stay. Overall, the food was 5 stars. The room was 4 stars. The management was 0 stars. Hence, a final rating of 3 stars. The pancakes were fluffy, the eggs were delicious, and the fruits were so fresh! Oh the orange juice was actually freshly squeezed! Quaint, cozy hotel in the center of Hampton Bays, with friendly, helpful staff. Plenty of sailing and fishing in the area, and you can drive to good beaches on the Atlantic Ocean in about 10 minutes or so (such as Ponquogue and Tiana beaches). Good restaurants close by too. Our room was a good size, and the bathrooms were modern. The breakfasts at the hotel are classic and should not be missed. Make sure you call ahead (about 20 minutes) with your room number, to make sure a table is ready for when you walk over. The pool is small but clean, with nice furniture. There's a decent little playground for kids too. The rest of the Hamptons are within reasonable driving distance (about an hour to Montauk Lighthouse). My wife and I met 35 years ago in the Hamptons and we visited the Hampton Maid Inn many times back then. We went this past saturday for our anniversary to have breakfast on our way to the beach. Well nothing stays the same as they say in life. I ordered the special corn beef hash with eggs and my wife had the eggs benedict. My corn beef hash was burnt and squashed flat! There is often a wait to get a table, be warned if you come here anywhere near peak times, but the wait for food can be outrageous as well. After visiting multiple times with hour+ wait for food we discussed with the ladies at the front and were given an extreme attitude for having an expectation of food delivery inside of 90 minutes.
