My second time here. It's an interesting building. Now this time the regular collection was not on display. They were nice about it and discounted the admission price. Parrish Art Museum is kind of hidden when you get past the main sign. It is in this building that on the outside you would not know that it is a museum. When you walk in there is a gift shop with very pretty objects. This museum is not big by any means but its a good size and has a few exhibits. One exhibit we saw was kAWS which I loved. This museum also has a cafe where you can get snacks and drinks. They also have some seating there. This museum is on a great piece of land so it has greenery all over. The staff here were nice and helpful. read more

Had a relaxing & peaceful experience here. Visited for the Frida Kahlo exhibit & it was small but did not disappoint. The building is BEAUTIFUL. The staff is kind. The entrance fee is fair. The parking lot is HUGE. Gift shop is quaint. This may be my favorite art museum on Long Island. I spent a little over an hour & felt that was plenty of time to observe everything. They also have an adorable cafe with some great healthy offerings. Would not recommend for children although there was a room geared towards them. Not sure if it was for events or for classes. read more

This is a lovely museum out east in Long Island. They display modern art pieces as well unique neon lights. The museum has free admissions for students :) Nicole and I frequent this place to take pictures. They often host local events such as festivals and feature musicians and photographers. The last one we went to had food and arts and crafts for kids. The gallery has a clean aesthetic and I recommend checking it out! read more

I loved the Parrish Art Museum. I was shocked such a beauty existed on Long Island, and has taken me this long to discover it. This honestly can easily become one my favorite art museums. The outdoor art sculptures were my favorite. It's small but has incredible art collections. I mostly frequent the Northfork but I can't continue to sleep on the South fork. Incredible masterpieces that must be seen. I definitely will be recommending everyone I know to this gem. I am definitely not an art connoisseur by any means, but I can't certainly appreciate it. I took an art course in college and I certainly developed an eye for the arts. Beautiful pieces like this must be enjoyed as the artist intended. read more

Just tried to go there for a relaxing experience and view the artwork in a calm environment with my friend. Security there is rude, obnoxious and degrading- making this experience the complete opposite of what a gallery should be. Second you pull up they pop out to stare at you from the glass windows to watch you as you approach. They literally watch your every move as you try to enjoy the environment in peace. One painting was so pretty and I wanted to take a picture in front of it. The security guard flipped out and came rushing over saying I was leaning on the painting when I wasn't even touching it with my body. Then he started investigating the painting for dents and marks and called backup security to watch us in the rest of the rooms, making it even more unpleasant. Unless you want to feel like a criminal while you try and enjoy art I don't recommend. read more

I went last Thursday with my nearly 90 year old grandmother. We are both Village residents, went to the "old" museum, are avid art collectors and have visited some of the most respected art museums in the world. I felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome from the second I stepped inside. First I noticed the mask situation - everyone was wearing masks (fine with me) but I had a cloth mask. I was immediately asked to swap with a Surgical mask. A little much but OK, whatever. I also noticed others coming in wearing, essentially, the same cloth masks and not being asked to switch. What was that all about? I don't really like being singled out...or whatever this was. The second thing was the security guards. We both said a friendly "hello" to the one that seemed to be a long distant cousin of Lurch from the Addams Family. No return greeting, stone faced, no smile or anything. As we walked from room to room and down the hall, he followed us very closely and did not take his eyes off of us for the entire time. I don't like being watched - I know I'm beautiful but even this was a little excessive and just uncomfortable. He made no attempt to be friendly, say hello or anything. He just had a laser focused stare on us and followed us all over the place into each room and up and down the main corridor. Two stars as the grounds and building were very nice, and we got in free thanks to the promo on their website that First Responders and Healthcare Workers got in free with ID during the month of September (I am a volunteer firefighter and EMT). I would've been rather pissed if I paid for this. We were in and out in a half hour because of the unwelcoming climate and the works (except the photography) weren't really the style we collect and have in our own homes. That isn't the museum's fault, most of the stuff on display just didn't honk our horns. Overall, would not go back just because I felt so uncomfortable in there. Best museum with a similar set up, that is most welcoming and worth the time and effort to get into is Glenstone near my other home in Potomac, MD, just outside Washington DC. read more

The facility looks rather unappealing as you drive up. Hear me out. I walked in and loved the layout of the facility. That said, I was super disappointed to be charged full price when all of the major exhibits were closed. So instead, all I got to see was a bunch of artwork created by local students. This museum is gorgeous even without any art in it! The artwork adds it's own feel to the place. Last time we visited there was a completely different feeling due to the artwork. This time around I liked it better, there were very appealing neon lights tangled all over the place and I loved it. We got really cool photos and I had a pleasant experience. The day we were was also community day so they had a whole bunch of music and activities and FREE admission! Everyone was so pleasant and knowledgeable. I highly recommend visiting this hidden gem if you're in the area. read more

If you're out in the Hamptons and are looking for a little culture, stop in. My favorite pieces are the earlier paintings done by locals about local subjects (not much of a fan of the political or the modern, which seem out of place here, but that's just my opinion). read more

Attractive Museum - Impressive in size, both in the architecture length and the individual art pieces. There is a bevy of pieces by well known artists, in various collections by various foundations. Much like other contemporary museums, this museum had artwork that ranged from the early 20th century to current times, but was focused on local artists as well. I especially enjoyed this current exhibition, of which had focused on Alan Shields (In Motion) and Steven and William Ladd (Mary Queen of the Universe) - my favorite being the latter. My friends and I walked around the spacious museum, of which some of their permanent collection were of contemporary photography- such as a Chuck Close self portrait. I emerged myself in the space itself, enjoying the architecture of the ceiling and the echoes of various patron's steps throughout the hallway. It was a short, but memorable visit. I will definitely come back here again. read more

If I could give them a zero I would. The art collection was horrific. Dark, sloppy, & not creative at all. If you still enjoy wearing masks come here! The staff follow favoritism, half of the people have to wear masks even if vaccinated and half of the people for an "event" don't have to because they are vaccinated. Amazing place in the Hamptons, Parrish Art Museum provides great art exhibitions and programs for the communities. This beautiful architecture is located in huge space creating unique experience both inside and outside the museum. I was mesmerized by the inside structure of the museum - it is not common. Saying that, this museum is one floor space that is elongated. With a high ceiling and natural lights coming in, the building itself creates cool experience for the museum visitors. Personally I really enjoyed the exhibition, "Artists chooses Artists" - a show curated by America's established Artists. I like the unique theme of this show and how well the space was curated with interesting, beautiful, and thought provoking art works. Enjoyed the permanent exhibitions as well and looking forward to visiting the space in the summer time! read more

The Parrish Art Museum is the perfect place to go on a rainy or cold day in the Hamptons. Although it isn't huge, they do a good job at curating some interesting pieces and the building's design is quite pleasing. I came on a Saturday morning and also found it not overly busy. It was a nice spot to stroll and just zen out a bit. I'm also a huge fan of the digital art installations they currently have. read more

Yes, the old Parrish was small but the building had charm. I'm hoping the new Parrish finds some. It appears like a Utility Building, with no signs or referencing landmark, sitting lifeless at the far end of a field. Knowing where it was I still passed it by. Stark slab concrete construction with a generic colorless roofline and trim that, I suppose, was meant to echo local industrial farm buildings but sadly mimic them. No clear entrance or readable signage. Not fun to play "is this it" on a cold winter day. (By the way, the entrance is in the middle. Large black unadorned doors.) Perhaps this will change, they only opened the Museum at this site recently. The inside does allow for dramatic displays of larger works and, while the generic concrete walls and construction site ceiling adds little, the volume of space does allow these larger works to shine. It's a eclectic collection well worth viewing. The Staff is another big plus. Their friendly and professional presence has me adding a 'star' to my review. I was torn about what I consider the Gem of the Museum, the works of Fairfield Porter. These are intimate masterpieces and feel a little lost in the vastness of the galley. Still, any painter will linger and marvel at Porter's use of color, his insight into light and the beautifully structured looseness of his imagery. So, if you love art, you're going to go. Perhaps, in spring, a flowing field of flowers will adorn The Parrish's winter drab field. One hopes. read more

Came here on a cold winter day. The snow really set the scene and added to the feel for the museum entrance. I love the architecture of the building and the large windows that let in so much natural light. They have permanent and changing exhibits, so there's always something to new to be seen here. This is a little hidden gem. This has a great collection of local art and artist but limited to the Hamptons (or the east end of Long Island). The structure itself is interesting and the museum is a fun destination. It is a nice diversion. A great place to wait out traffic.... If you want to visit, try to time your visit to coincide with the guided tours (around 2pm) earlier in the week. read more

This museum is extremely beautiful and I had a wonderful experience here. I will definitely be back. The attendants working at the desk were friendly and helpful. My friend and I happened to visit on a wednesday and surprisingly it was pay what you wish day (great for students). The architecture of the building was so beautiful. The roof is M shaped and super long. The building looks like it could be a hangar but the inside is super modern. There's a lot of natural light and the vibe is peaceful/ serene which is great for contemporary art. I probably could have stayed there all day. There are loads of modern benches in the middle of each room for those who need to rest or just want to sit in front of the pieces. Even the parking lot is aesthetically pleasing, with loads of trees in between the spots so there's plenty of shade. Even though the space is super long they manage to fit many exhibitions into the galleries in a cohesive way. It doesn't seem overcrowded or under crowded with work. I loved my experience there and I will definitely be back, maybe to try the cafe or one of the public events. read more

Came on a Sunday for the Yoga on the Terrace event - only in July and August on Sundays 11am-12pm. The event is $10 and free for students, a good 30 or so people showed up and we yoga-ed away. Even though the day started a bit gloomy, the sun gradually came out and there was even a breeze once in awhile. The atmosphere was so relaxing! Other than that, with the yoga ticket, you get free entrance to the museum as well. The architecture is amazing! So picture-worthy.The galleries as well. There were some of the permanent collection that was always a classic. And others as well. Spent a good hour or so looking at every piece. Cute little museum that I would come by if I'm around the area. Neat touch: the security guards all had the same color tie - the color of the museum apparently! read more

Great events all year round. Personally, I liked the charm of the old building on the corner of Jobs and Main in the heart of Southampton Village. Staff is always wonderful and the food is a culinary adventure every time. Can't wait for my favorite event, "The Spring Fling" read more

Beautiful. Majestic. I loved the permanent collection on view and the special exhibition William glackens. The front desk staff was lovely and informative. The museum shop was quaint and offered unusual but exciting items. We had a light lunch at the golden pear cafe inside the museum the gentleman working was very friendly. The guards stationed around the galleries we very kind and answered questions and looked so sharp to! Definitely worth a visit when going to the the Hamptons. read more
