Our Hosts Veda and Wilfred were friendly and very attentive to all our needs. Beautiful well-appointed rooms. Incredibly comfy beds. Charming common areas with a lovely piano to play. All modern conveniences in a comfy welcoming setting. In the morning before breakfast, coffee and or tea is left outside your room. Just a few minutes from beautiful Southold, a short distance to many vineyards and just seven miles to Orient State Park. You will be treated to an excellent home cooked breakfast prepared with love by Veda. Each day Wilfred served us a big fresh fruit salad, OJ, salad with homemade dressing, followed by a yummy filling breakfast entre. The first day the entre was the best cheese omelet I ever had and sausage with home fries. The second day the entre was corned beef hash, biscuits, plantains, both days muffins, OJ and very fresh coffee. Veda is very accommodating to dietary concerns. When we were done eating Veda came out and we enjoyed wonderful conversations with both Wilfred and Vida. They are warm, interesting, knowledgeable helpful and welcoming hosts. We will definitely return. Highly recommended

With just three guest rooms and plenty of space on the first floor and on the expansive deck, we felt very comfortable throughout our stay. And Donna was a wonderful, gracious host. She was very accommodating to our arrival and departure times, and offered thoughtful recommendations for restaurants and other things for us to enjoy. We had an especially good time taking her bicycles on the short ride to the nearby Kontokosta Winery and 67 Steps Beach. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Greenport!!

It is decorated beautifully, whimsical front porch and back yard, plush bedding and a fresh growler of Greenport beer in the fridge! There was jazz music playing on a beautiful Victorian record player and every morning breakfast was ready if you choose to have it. It also helps that Donna knows and is loved by everyone in the town so the second you tell them you're staying at Ruby's Cove, you get treated like royalty and also receive some great discounts that come along with the stay as well! If you're thinking about staying in Greenport, this is definitely your place. Don't waste the money on a hotel, support local!

Everything around here is small, personable and locally run -- adding to the charm of being out on the east end. Your options are a smattering of bank breaking bed and breakfasts, hard to acquire airbnb rentals, cottages by the golf course and a motel with one of the best views you've ever seen. The blue inn falls somewhere in the middle of those choices. Our room reminded me of a cozy ski lodge rental. Small kitchenette, exposed wood beams and a pleasing country decor. Rates were extremely reasonable (about $150 midweek off season). Everything was very clean and they even left us a surprisingly nice toiletry package with toothpastes, floss, makeup wipes, Q-tips etc. It's the little things like this, which I wasn't really expecting that really added a nice touch. Our stay was pleasant, however the noise level deserves a mention. There were folks staying on both sides of the room and at night I could hear bits of conversations about who knows what and both of their TVs blaring incoherently. Thankfully our neighbors weren't night owls or I would have not gotten any sleep. As for sleeping - the king size bed was cozy and mushy. I liked it but its probably to soft for most. Unfortunately, the restaurant and pool were not open but I wouldn't have minded checking both out had I been here during the summer!

The grounds and buildings are well-maintained. We had a second-floor room with steep stairs; no elevator. Breakfast is all carbs, only on weekends when we were there in mid- May; the restaurant was otherwise closed. The room has a small table with two kitchen chairs. There is no desk or comfy chair. The bathroom sink has no space to put anything by it. In our room, the toilet valve had to be manually reseated after every flush, and they couldn't fix it for the four days we were there. We might have changed rooms, but that seemed like a bigger pain.

We came off season (mid-March) so it was in our budget (this place in the summer can go for 3x what we paid and its understandable). Completely renovated and modernized this motel was way more than we expected. The views of Shelter Island were gorgeous and the grounds were so nice to walk around. The lobby was warm and inviting as well, and they even have a small diner on property Nookies that we stopped by at for breakfast one morning and loved. Our room was stunning and had so many amenities. Small Smeg fridge, large closet with an iron/board, full length mirror, and safe. They even had beach towels for us (not that we needed them in March but they were a good touch). The smart TV was great to stream all our services and there was also a bluetooth speaker. There was a guide with motel facts and local things to do as well. The bathroom was also super modern and stylish and they had slippers and robes for us to use as well as full size pump shampoo/conditioner/body wash/hand wash/ and lotion. Maybe one day well be able to afford to stay for a beach day. We would love to come back!
