Silver Sands Motel & Beach Bungalows

An Absolutely Exceptional Stay -- Silver Sands Is Something Special…read more My wife and I spent three days at Silver Sands celebrating our 31st wedding anniversary, and although this was our first visit, it certainly will not be our last. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the experience was exceptional. The entire staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. What impressed us most was how incredibly organized, attentive, and welcoming everyone was without ever being intrusive. It was almost as if the staff had mastered the art of being there exactly when you needed something, while somehow remaining nearly invisible the rest of the time. That level of service is very difficult to achieve, and Silver Sands does it beautifully. The property itself is immaculate. The grounds are meticulously maintained while still allowing the natural beauty of the surroundings to remain part of the experience. The private beach was spotless, peaceful, and beautifully organized. Throughout the day, we would notice staff quietly moving through, straightening and maintaining everything, yet they were so unobtrusive you could barely tell it was happening. The attention to detail throughout Silver Sands is remarkable. From the design and atmosphere of the property to the pour-over coffee in the room, the thoughtfully selected shampoos and conditioners, linens, amenities, and overall cleanliness -- everything feels intentional. Our room was absolutely impeccable. Silver Sands somehow manages to capture the nostalgia and charm of the classic American motel while feeling modern, sophisticated, and luxurious at the same time. Calling it a "motel" almost doesn't do it justice. It is a truly unique property that can easily rival some of the best hotels and resorts we've stayed at. And then there are Eddie's and Nookie's! Both onsite restaurants were fantastic. The staff and service were wonderful, and everything we ate was top-notch. We left already talking about coming back so we can try more of the menu. Over our 31 years together, my wife and I have been fortunate enough to travel to many beautiful and far-off destinations. Yet there were moments during our stay at Silver Sands when we genuinely felt transported somewhere else entirely -- certainly not like we were still on Long Island, and at times not even like we were anywhere in the United States. It has a special atmosphere that is difficult to describe until you experience it yourself. Thank you to the entire Silver Sands team, as well as everyone at Eddie's and Nookie's, for making our 31st anniversary one of our most memorable, relaxing, and enjoyable staycations. You helped make an already special occasion even more special. We arrived as first-time guests and left knowing we'll be back and bringing others to experience what we had. Thank you again, Silver Sands. See you all soon!

I cannot say enough about the entire staff, the grounds, our cabin..... From the minute we checked in, we were treated like royalty! The girls in reception were so welcoming. Our cabin was cozy and decorated beautifully. The food at Nookies was delicious and Mike our waiter was a joy! The staff keeps the grounds so neat and nicely landscaped. The owners of Silver Sands did an incredible job with the renovations and more importantly, the staff that they hired! We've enjoyed Silver Sands over the years with our children and we will definitely be returning with our grandchildren as well! Alex and crew....thank you so much for everything!. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.

Everything around here is small, personable and locally run -- adding to the charm of being out on the east end. Your options are a smattering of bank breaking bed and breakfasts, hard to acquire airbnb rentals, cottages by the golf course and a motel with one of the best views you've ever seen. The blue inn falls somewhere in the middle of those choices. Our room reminded me of a cozy ski lodge rental. Small kitchenette, exposed wood beams and a pleasing country decor. Rates were extremely reasonable (about $150 midweek off season). Everything was very clean and they even left us a surprisingly nice toiletry package with toothpastes, floss, makeup wipes, Q-tips etc. It's the little things like this, which I wasn't really expecting that really added a nice touch. Our stay was pleasant, however the noise level deserves a mention. There were folks staying on both sides of the room and at night I could hear bits of conversations about who knows what and both of their TVs blaring incoherently. Thankfully our neighbors weren't night owls or I would have not gotten any sleep. As for sleeping - the king size bed was cozy and mushy. I liked it but its probably to soft for most. Unfortunately, the restaurant and pool were not open but I wouldn't have minded checking both out had I been here during the summer!

Service was quick and the food came out even quicker. I ordered the Cod Goujons with dill mayo. The cod was juicy and fried to perfection. My girlfriend ordered a chicken open sandwich with avocado and tomato salsa which looked exquisite. All in all the experience was fantastic and I plan on eating here whenever I'm in town.

We traveled as a family of 4 , with a 4 year old and a 20 year old. As a family we look for many things such as clean, comfort, location, amenities , price and safety . This property has it all, from the kitchen, rooms, pool , beach and well Kept grounds . Kitchen : it is fully equipped with the following : pots, pans , utensils, plates, a bowl, cups, wine glasses , glasses, toaster, microwave, stove w/o oven, nice size fridge , paper towels, tiny dish soap, dishwasher soap ( two individual ones) Pool: they provide you with beach towels in your room . Beach: the beach is right down the property's law and private/exclusive to those staying at the resort. There are enough beach chairs. Location: the property is 5 minutes away from Greenport . We order dinner from the few restaurants in Greenport and never was disappointing . ( must try Green Hill) We will be back the second week of July with the whole family .

But we eventually grabbed a spot. Walking in the front door and to the right is a beautiful bar. That is where the continental breakfast is served. The breakfast included bagels, fruit, coffee tea etc. The bar does not serve any alcohol; however there are many bars you can walk to if you want. The ladies at the front desk are very very accommodating. We were assisted by Jessica and Monica and both were very helpful. We loved our rooms overlooking the harbor. The balcony had two chairs and a small end table. Very nice. The rooms were inviting, spacious and clean. There were different pictures on the wall, dried flower arrangements and a gorgeous marble table with two chairs around it. The rooms also had a nice leather chair in each one. I felt the beds were comfortable and it had four comfy pillows per bed, along with some decorative pillows. The bathroom was large with a big sink and counter space. The showers were huge. They had several different sprays on the shower walls, which could be turned on. The bathrooms were nice and clean and the towels were huge. The kids loved the pool. It's not too big but it was ok. There are tables and chairs around the pool as well as umbrellas and lounge chairs. All in all, we loved the hotel and are considering another stay next summer. To myself and my family, this is a five star hotel. We loved it!

We were happy to find Greenporter Hotel and loved it's retro 50s feel and generous outdoor space. Our kids enjoyed the pool and free breakfast with hot and cold items. The rooms were very clean and had everything we needed and the staff went above and beyond. As for value-at $260 on a Monday-it was almost half the price of the other hotels in the area with no hidden "resort fees" or charge for parking. So do your homework and know the area before you go. We are happy we did and will be back!

This is my 1st time ever leaving a bad review of a business. I would have preferred to write this…read moredirectly to OE, but I feared my words would only end up in the hands of the manager, Robert, with whom my problem is. I recvd an email from OE on 8/7 alerting me that they'd be opening soon. I was on their mailing list from when I stayed at Greenporter the past 2yrs (the og hotel that OE took over). On 8/16, I booked via the link in that email with the "30%off for those who find us early" promo for Mon9/14. I immediately recvd the $308 charge on my card and looked fwd to my stay. Upon arrival 9/14, there was lots of construction occurring which was to be expected as they'd just opened. My husband and I were greeted by Mike at the front desk, who was absolutely lovely. Unfortunately, he informed us that our booking was actually for Tues9/1, not Mon9/14. He kindly advised that only 2rooms were reserved for the night, so we could check in and likely only pay the difference from what I had already paid & the rate for that night (which was $417). I immediately recvd a txt with a link to confirm my stay (note I never got this txt upon my original booking). We thanked Mike for being so wonderful and headed to our room to drop our bags and change after a long day of travel - expecting to be charged about $109. About 1hr after checking in, we recvd a charge of $613.42! We went back to the desk and met the manager, Robert. He said we wouldn't be able to only pay the dif as we "never showed up to our 9/1rez." He even said "I remember that day bc it was our opening day and we had the best room arranged for you as you booked so early." I asked why I never recvd a txt reminder or call relating to the rez and he responded "I dont think we had your #." Surely your hotel booking page would have (and should have if not) required my # upon booking AND surely you did have it, bc the confirmation I got that day upon the new booking was from the same # as Greenporter- I had prior msgs in that very thread. I explained that it seems likely your brand new site had some sort of error, especially as the date it changed my reservation to was literally opening day. Robert said there was nothing he could do and we'd have to pay the full rate for the night on top of the $308 I'd already paid. I pulled up the site showing the rate was $417 & asked why we were charged $613.42. He said "oh, that's not what we charged- let me look into it" (hmm sounds like another possible system issue, huh?) he couldn't make sense of it and said he'd need to speak to the hotel revenue department and told us that we need to call AMEX. Right, because it must be the major credit company who had a system error and not your brand new hotel- just like it couldn't have been your brand new website's fault the reservation went awry in the 1st place. I requested that he at least refund the $613.42 & we will go get our bags and leave entirely. Robert was so rude, unwelcoming, and pretentious that I embarrassingly ended up sobbing over the whole ordeal on our walk to get our bags. The man has no business working in hospitality. Side note, his upper-crotch/lower-belly area sticking out under his shirt was rather unsightly and unprofessional Oyster Estate could have had an add'l $100+ & 2 happy/returning guests who would spread positive reviews to our friends and family about the decor, pool, cleanliness, vibe, excellent hospitality of Mike at the front desk, etc. Instead, they had a girl sobbing in the lobby who spent $308 on NOTHING, they needed to turn over our room again since we had already checked into it, and they now have this awful review - terrible business move by Robert. Imagine I'd spent a total of $921.42 for a Mon night in off-season with tons of loud construction vehicles and no open restaurant (hopefully they have completely separate management for that when it does open) If you are looking to stay here, I would suggest waiting for the hotel to work out the kinks beforehand. Also, double check all of your card charges and call to book instead of using their site.
