09/15/2019 update: As promised, I would post an update if the two issues that I encountered were responded to/resolved.
I called The Guild via phone and spoke with Jessica, explaining the two issues that I encountered. As she promised, she did follow up on both within 1 day. Yes 1 day! Now that is quick customer service and committing to a promise. I had to provided details of what day my family called to book their room and what phone number they called from. I did not have to provide their credit card number, which of course I did not have, so I would had to call them and ask them to call The Guild. My follow up response did come via text message so be mindful of what I said previously about their preferred way of communication. Jessica provided an apology for the mix up, processed a refund to my credit card and provided an updated receipt showing that the refund was processed, and that my family member's card was charged. The receipt only showed the last 4 digits of our cards so it is good to know that they did not include an entire credit card number.
Regarding the glasses, while The Guild staff in Miami stated that they are "not responsible for any belongings that may be left behind," they rechecked that the glasses were not found and would send an update if they are later located. Fair enough.
Note: Since I used to travel almost 90% of my time for work in a previous life, I have a ritual of how I check a room to make sure nothing is left. Since I got tied up in a last minute situation outside of the hotel, I left the room check to my family. If I had been available, the glasses would be safely residing at home. Perhaps, the glasses will be located and find their way home.
To recap, I still enjoyed staying at The Guild, appreciate the amenities that they offer and proximity to shopping, beach, etc and I recommend staying at The Guild. I have updated my review to 5 stars for the resolution of one issue and follow up to another issue. Really, the review should be 4.5 stars due to the credit card mix up since it involved money (not everyone may be able to afford the time to wait for charges to be removed) and effort it took by me to get a resolution.
If you are not a fan of using text messaging for booking and confirming accommodations, verifying room availability, requesting a different check out time and getting issues resolved, you may want to ask if they can call instead. I am not sure of the answer as I found text messaging to be more convenient for me even if I had to place a telephone call to resolve issues encountered. read more
