Pro tip, for a popular show, eat nearby, leave an hour before the show and park. They lose a star for the nasty traffic jam. Not sure what can be done to improve the traffic flow, admittedly a Friday night, holiday weekend start.... Walkers beat us in from a 1 mile away. From their FAQ page; "EXPECT EXTREMELY HIGH VOLUMES OF TRAFFIC. We recommend carpooling, or taking BART and the free shuttle from Concord BART station to the Box Office." Toyota Pavilion At Concord…read more I am extremely disappointed with my experience at Toyota Pavilion on July 31, 2026 for the Lil Wayne concert. I purchased two concert tickets and a Premier Parking Pass specifically to ensure smooth access to the event. I arrived well in advance of the show only to be told by venue staff that the Premier Parking lot was completely full and could not accommodate pass holders. General parking was also full. As a result I was unable to park my vehicle and could not attend the concert at all. The venue oversold Premier Parking passes without having the capacity to honor them. This is unacceptable and frankly deceptive. I paid for a service that was never delivered and as a direct consequence lost the value of both my parking pass and my concert tickets through absolutely no fault of my own. When I contacted Ticketmaster for a refund I was repeatedly denied and deflected despite this being a clear case of non-performance. The parking refund was eventually processed which is an acknowledgment that something went wrong -- yet the ticket refund was denied. I also called and emailed the box office and they denied the refund as well. I am now pursuing a complaint with the California Attorney General and considering small claims court. Toyota Pavilion needs to take responsibility for overselling parking and failing to deliver services paid for by customers. I would strongly caution anyone attending future events here to reconsider purchasing Premier Parking as there is no guarantee it will be honored.

I decided on the shrimp scampi and looked forward to it all week. What a disappointment. The six shrimp arrived at room temperature, and the butter sauce they were sitting in was also barely warm. The shrimp did not appear to have been cooked in the sauce at all. They looked and tasted like plain boiled shrimp--exactly like the pre-cooked shrimp you can buy at Costco. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if that's where they came from. The sauce tasted like pure melted butter, with no noticeable garlic or white wine flavor--just plain butter. I suppose this is what I get for ordering a non-meat entrée at a steakhouse, but if you can't make a decent option for non-meat eaters, don't bother putting it on the menu. The French onion soup, however, was delicious. I would order only that again if I had to return. The creamed spinach was just okay--honestly, the one I make at home is much better. The baked potato was also very good and served piping hot, which I especially appreciated after the tepid shrimp. I did not order dessert, but my niece and sister both had cheesecake. They did not charge for it since it was their birthdays, which was very much appreciated. They also do not serve bread at this restaurant--or at least none was offered or brought to the table. Another thing I found strange was the layout. There is a very narrow hallway leading to the dining rooms on the right, and right in the middle of that hallway is the computer station where the waitstaff enter orders. I would hate to be a server here--it seems like one of the worst possible places for it. People were constantly trying to squeeze past while the staff were standing there trying to work.

When the bartender picked them up they broke. My wife immediately felt terrible and was apologizing. She's a preschool teacher, super sweet and about as non-confrontational as you can get. Instead of just telling her not to stack them that way the bartender yelled at her. She already felt horrible, it was obviously an accident and there was no reason to make her feel worse. Another time one of our coworkers accidentally walked outside with her drink. I get it, you can't take a drink outside. But instead of just saying hey you can't bring that out here, she came outside and snatched the drink out of her hand, barked at her and cut her off. Something that could've been handled with a normal conversation turned into a whole thing. And yeah, there were a few times people got way more upset than I had ever seen them get in there before. I'm not saying every reaction was okay, but I also knew these people and that was not their normal baseline at all. These were coworkers who had been coming in for years, getting along with everyone, no drama. Watching people get pushed to that level of frustration was honestly part of what made the whole situation stand out so much. That's the part I keep coming back to. Same group, same bar, years of no problems. Then the daytime bartender changed and suddenly there was tension all the time. During the security screening, our bags were searched and we were patted down, which we understand may be standard procedure. However, the security guard went far beyond what we considered appropriate by squeezing our breasts during the pat-down. We immediately objected and made it clear that we were uncomfortable and felt violated. The guard identified himself as "Natty Martinez" (although we are not sure whether that was his real name). After the incident, we watched other patrons entering the bar and did not observe anyone else being subjected to the same level of physical contact. That left us feeling as though we had been singled out and treated differently. No one should expect to be touched in such an invasive manner simply for entering a bar. Security screenings can be conducted professionally and respectfully. This experience was humiliating, unnecessary, and completely ruined our evening. I hope management takes this complaint seriously, reviews any available security footage, and ensures that all security staff are properly trained on appropriate search procedures and respectful treatment of customers.

My wife and I enjoy a night at the theater, but living out in the Clayton Valley area it can be…read morequite a trek to visit the more prominent theaters in the City (pricey tickets, aside) - and as a result we love East Bay community theater. So we were delighted (and surprised) to see an advertisement for a play in Clayton put on by a local theater company - the Clayton Theater Company. Community theater in Clayton? We had to check this out! With a super convenient location, we chose a weeknight evening showing. A short drive to the theater, free diagonal parking literally across the street from Endeavor Hall in Clayton, reasonable ticket prices - this definitely was not a San Francisco or Berkeley theater experience! We were fans before the show even started. This was true community theater. Much work was done by volunteers, people giving their time to foster arts in their community. Talking to some people involved in the production, rehearsals went on for a couple months beforehand, actors and musicians rehearsing hours into the night after working a full day. The play was "Radio Hour", a dramatization of a 1940s radio variety hour production. The play was wonderful, and featured a marvelous blend of drama, singing, dancing and music. The live music really made the show. As a bonus we took away insights and an appreciation for the behind-the-scenes work of early radio productions. Endeavor Hall has constraints as to stage size and we admired the creativity behind the stage setting and production to optimize what they had. Unbeknownst to us, the Clayton Theater Company has been putting on productions since at least 2013, typically at least a couple a year. Past productions have included Arsenic and Old Lace, Urinetown, Rumors, and You're a Good Man Charlie Brown. They won several 2017 Shellie Awards. Community theater fans in the area owe it to themselves to check out the Clayton Theater Company.

Review #184 - 2019…read more While we were waiting for my nephew to play his basketball game, I decided to take my daughter & niece to the nearest park which was less than five minutes drive from the school. We showed up around 4:15 PM on Saturday, July 20th & there were a lot of people there. It appeared that there were a few different kids's birthdays going on. It's a really nice size park. There was a soccer field, baseball field, two separate playgrounds & plenty of covered picnic tables. The only thing missing was a basketball court; which since my son was watching his cousin play, wasn't a very big deal. They had plenty of benches as well, some under the shades & some in the open. Even though it was 91 degrees out, it was still windy so I didn't mind the partly shaded benches since I needed a little bit of heat to keep warm from the wind. My 14-year old niece enjoyed the swings for a good half an hour. I'd definitely come back & have a family picnic here, even if it's a little out of the way. However, the bathroom could use some cleaning.
