Our family loves to visit Matteo's Dream Playground on the weekends. When we moved to the area a couple of years ago, we explored parks in the general area. This park is located right of the 242, its easy to access with lots of parking. The kids get to play in a small scale castle, stores, and boat spaces to keep them entertained. Every time we come here, our older son just runs around until we say it's time to go home. We go for walks in the neighboring park and fields to get some exercise in as well. Check out this park if you're in the Concord/Martinez area to discover something new. They recently updated the fields nearby and parking lot. They have food trucks on the weekends. It's a nice park, lots of things for the kids to do. There are 2 mist stations for when it gets warm (you gotta push the button to activate the mist). Generally it's a nice little playground. A couple of things though, I think I went when it was a little warm, it had this strange smell of either melted crayons or microwaved plastic. Something didn't sit right. The other thing was that I noticed that there were a lot of different trucks driving by (garbage, moving, transport, vans, regular trucks). Maybe people just drive a lot of trucks in the area, I'm not too sure. There's a lot of shade outside of the park but inside could get pretty warm. I'm not sure if I'd come back, but at least I know it's there! read more

This is a great location but needs a lot of maintenance and replacement of features and activity centers.

We were visiting different playgrounds with our granddaughter and stopped here. Matteos dream playground. Built for all children. Even special needs kids which I think is fantastic! It is huge and fun and safe. It has all the goodies. Minus a star because while I know there is a homeless problem and I understand that they need to be somewhere, parked in the car they live in next to a playground is in bad taste. Concord should be protecting the playgrounds. It made it feel less safe. Still, the playground itself was very well thought out. read more

Could be very nice, but unfortunately has gotten rundown and it doesn't appear that maintenance is done.

Went on the swings and suddenly life was worth living...Love that there's swings for children and adults! Not too many people here on a Monday at noon, but the surrounding park itself was lively with all the dogs and people biking. A relatively clean playground (apart from some festive sheddings from the weekend I assume) with an ample amount of tables in the shade to hold picnics or for parents to wait. There's also 3 gender neutral bathrooms off to the side. Parkour is possible here. read more

This is one of my daughter's favorite parks. She calls it "Tomato Park". I think the general theme of the park is super cute - with the castle play structure and the dragon rock climbing wall painted on the side. And I love that it accommodates all children. But it's in need of repair and whatever allure it had in the beginning is long gone. There are some seedy characters hanging out in the parking lot and I've never felt super safe with just me and the kids. The water mist is a fun idea but it gets pretty grimy on the ground right below. There are benches and places to sit for the parents and minimal shady areas - I would bring a hat and sunscreen on particularly sunny days. We hope to continue coming to the park and see some improvement in the structure in the next few years. read more

Solid 3.5 stars as there is a large play structure here castle themed! There's a a separate tot section for 2-5 and then a larger 5-12 section. Pretty fun play structure, a few picnic tables, and bathrooms. Although the play area is pretty nice it's a little dated and the floor definitely looks like it could use a nice refinish but other than that if we are in the area would totally want to come back. read more

This park is really dirty and feels unsafe. It has a really cool playground. If it was clean and safe it'd be great!

Before we ventured off to the playground, I Yelped it as I do with anywhere I go. I read the reviews about the homeless but I also read that they're more in the field and don't bother people so we chanced it. We pulled into the smaller parking lot closest to the playground and immediately saw homeless in the lot, field, and outside perimeter of the playground but none in the playground. But uh-oh, there aren't any kids in the playground....is that the sign for a " Dangerous homeless ridden Playground???" Lol I decided to take this opportunity to teach my kids about compassion. I told my kids (aged 5, 8, and 10) about the homeless and reminded them that homeless people are still people, not monsters but asked that they not go behind walls I can't see them. Throughout our 1.5 hour visit we saw multiple homeless walk past the playground but not a single one walked in or appeared dangerous. The playground itself is fun for children and adults of all ages and abilities with a separate area for children 2-5 years old and the older section is fully wheelchair accessible! Theres slides, swings, a rock wall, xylophones and more! There's even monkey bars and swinging rings for toddlers/preschoolers and a pair for slightly older kids. My kids had a blast but I would STRONGLY recommend NOT using the restrooms or picnic tables as they were heavily frequented by the homeless. While they are still people, they often carry diseases that could hurt our little ones. read more

At first glance, wow! 4 stars! Usually when there are play structures, there are just a couple in an open space but this place has quite a few all in a row. Quite dense but in a good way. Fenced off with obvious entries/exits which is great for safety. However there are some sketchy people who hang out at this park regularly. Not sure why people have their cars on jack stands working on cars and hanging out like they live there in the adjoining parking lot. Maybe they do. The cool thing for kids is that there's lots of hiding places under the play structures. Not so great for parents b/c you're not going to be able to see your child at all times. The height of the structures also makes it difficult to keep an eye on your little ones. The proximity to the street is quite close which isn't great for safety but at least it's divided by a fence where there's no entrance/exit on that side. Safety rating I'd say is a 4 out of 10. The heights of the structures and the ability for kids to not be visible even when they're not purposely trying to hide can make it stressful for parents who actually watch their kids. As for parents that just let their kids run wild and have no idea where they're at at all times or who they're interacting with, I guess this would be great for you. There's benches outside the play area where you can chat with your friends or dive your head in a cell phone while your kids roam around to who knows where. You'll love it. You can even smoke in the shaded picnic area that no one else uses probably because it's full of bird droppings. If you care more about the cleanliness of your pants when seated than the safety of your kids, then this is perfect! 5 out of 5 stars. You'll struggle a bit keeping an eye on your kids due to the layout of this place, but it may be worth going to just to check out. Keep your eye on your little ones though - seriously. This playground as of the writing of this review is technically closed due to Covid-19. The second part of this review is the playground for purposes of FPV drone flying. Yes, yes yes! Aside from the sketchy people you'll need to watch out for while your head is in your fancy goggles, the play structure itself is a great playground for navigating a tinywhoop quadcopter. The height makes video signal cut in and out if your VTX isn't the best, but the area itself is pretty awesome particularly during weekday afternoons where this place is quite vacant like many other playgrounds these days. My quad is under 250g which is internationally recognized as toy grade and therefore isn't governed by the FAA. Still following the rules. I won't most likely wno't hit you but if the wind blows my quad into you, it won't hurt any more than a Halloween sized pack of M&M's. read more

This looked good and the play structure is awesome. They have misters to cool you off. There were dead cockroaches, tons of garbage and leftover food everywhere, gigantic cobwebs, people smoking cigarettes, and the kicker was the screeching of people peeling out in their vehicle right next to the park. We are Not coming back. People are gross. Too bad:/ this was beautiful in theory though. read more

Cool playground in Concord, even has a toddler section which is great. Good amount of swings and areas to run around and play. Theres a cool water feature in the toddler playground that's basically a walkthrough mister. I like coming here with my three-year old. He enjoys the play structures and generally has a great time when we go. The slides are plastic and sometimes hot. They give the kids a charge. You can watch their hair stand up as they go down the slide. Homeless and pot-smokers seem to like the parking lot. read more

We had a great time in the toddler section of the park. My child is less then 2 so I was with them the whole time but they loved running around the enclosed area and being able to explore. Not many parks are for toddlers so I was very happy about this. I didn't see any homeless. I read the reviews about them. I didn't feel any sketchy beings and I went on a weekend good amount of kids and parents all supervising. Felt safe. The bathrooms smelled as we walked past. And they are right next to the park so that is the minus one star. There is a big grassy field next to the park and I let my child run around there and play on the grass. I will be coming back again and I will recommend for those who have small and larger kids. The ice cream trucks also visited routinely! That was nostalgic for me. The only downfall too was there were cobwebs along the play structure. The highlight was the misting machine in the big and little areas. Also I love the swinging chair. read more

Really cool playground! But there were flies everywhere under the playground where kids could potentially play and it just looked like bums sleep there at night or pee in there. Looked like people were living in their cars in the big parking lot that was full. That was the weird part, limited parking in a big lot but not many people/kids at the playground? This is my favorite park in Concord to take my children to. I will sometimes drive from Antioch just to take them to this park. I like the fact that it's in closed once you enter into the park. Because my little guy loves to try to escape and run away. So this park makes my life much easier. And there is something for all ages. And it's just really cute and has a little water feature. It's always clean and there's bathrooms close by. read more

A playground for ALL! Lovely place to spend a couple of hours with your kiddos of all ages. Floor is a squishy material I normally see in track & field.
