Nancy Boyd Park - A painted globe sculpture of Earth is situated outdoors at Nancy Boyd Park in Martinez, California, with trees and a wooden fence in the background.

Located not too far from highway 24 located right across from a fire station is this nice little park. There are picnic tables, restrooms, a basketball court, and a huge play area for the kids, in addition to grass area, trees, and an area to run around. There's not much parking within the small lot so people should be mindful with street parking especially for the neighborhood around it. We were celebrating my nephews 5th birthday and we reserved the large area by the basketball court and got there super early on a Saturday morning in March. Some of the other tables were already reserved and other people were working out. It was a nice area with both sun and shade and perfect for children especially toddlers that can run around and play with the playground. I also really enjoyed the Peace Corps Fountain in honor of a late Peace Corps volunteer from Martinez, Nancy Boyd who served in the Philippines. As a fellow returned Peace Corps Philippines Volunteer this was very touching to see.

A playground area with wooden structures and slides, surrounded by trees with autumn leaves and a bright blue sky.

Such a perfect playground for both big & little ones. Kind of has a woodland or 100 acre wood theme.

This park has a baseball field, a basketball court, three tennis courts, two playground areas, one for older kids, one for younger kids. There's also picnic areas and restrooms. The picnic areas can be reserved. Street parking can get crowded during softball games.

    Fun little park

Cute little forest themed park. It looks like it has rivers and treehouse us. I like that the ball field is for 12 years of age and under only. we like the parks that they seem to put a little more effort into, and this is one of them.

Great park. Baseball.basketball. And good size play structure for kids 5-12. (I think that's what the sign said)

Difficult to find but very quiet, well kept and nice structures. Parking has a small (6 car lot) and the road.

Personally, we enjoyed this park more as it was paved and had more amenities, such as exercise equipment and children's play spaces. It could definitely use more culture and zhuzh as there were many spots where a bit of design (such as a mural) would have improved the vibe. But that being said, it wasn't too bad for a mid-sized neighborhood park. Our favorite areas were the small overlook with stone bench and the bridge that connected back to the trail towards Lakes. Sadly, like Lakes, some of the trails that lead down from the bridge were a bit washed out so we didn't get explore as much as we would have liked but all in all we much enjoyed getting some steps in and would definitely come back - but perhaps on a day where it's not raining.

These two parks are often confused as one park, but they actually intercept each other. This is an excellent place to bring the kiddies as there is a pretty large play structure in tow. There's also a huge grassy field that's perfect for picnicking and other recreational activities. The walking paths are all paved and lead to other trails within nearby Hidden Lakes Park. There's tons of picnic space and each picnic area can be reserved for special events. You'll find a good amount of exercise equipment near a few of the walking paths. Parking is easy and there are clean restrooms on site. This is the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or a light run. The large grassy field space is also very desirable for dog owners. I immediately noticed how clean this park was as soon as I arrived. They definitely do an excellent job of cleaning and maintaining this area. I'd say that this is one of the better local parks in the area.

I don't mind short trails, but I had to fill up my daily step requirement elsewhere and headed over to Briones for that purpose. That's not to say this trail wasn't worthwhile. It most definitely was as the 13% grade wasn't insurmountable. It allowed nice views of the Carquinez Strait and Mount Diablo at the top. The circuitous trails were surrounded by various oak trees and wildflowers. I made an attempt at following the riding trail that goes through a gamey tunnel under the highway, but it made a dramatic climb which deflated my unearned self-image of a seasoned hiker. Regardless you can see why John Muir took pleasure in taking his daughters with him through these hills. Wanda was the name of his eldest daughter. My man and I are hiking here every other weekend at least. The dog loves it. We recently did the Full Moon Hike that is put on by the Rangers. The kids tagged along. Its free and one of the few times you're allowed on the Mt. during the night. The kids had a wonderful time meandering around in the dark. It was fun to be out of our element with flashlights. The moon was beautiful. The only negative is ticks. We went hiking on Thanksgiving morning with our dog and proceeded to pull seven ticks off our dog. The most yet. Wear bug spray and make sure that your dog is properly protected. Morning, noon or night this is a great hike to take.
