Wow is this park impressive! Came to visit the East Bay Area with my family (including toddlers) and I've never had my littles ask to go to the park so much. It's very open, large, and inviting. There is a huge play area for big and little kiddos, which is also surrounded by green grass and a nearby pound/lake. Can't wait to go back again! One of the best parks I've been to!

This is a huge park!! I came here on a very hot Saturday and it was packed!! I walked around the lake here, I also saw some tennis courts, a Rose Garden, baseball fields, soccer fields, and a basketball area which looked like it was in a parking lot. People were having picnics everywhere, and the playground is the place to be for kids!! You can tell this is a very popular park in Walnut Creek!!

A beautiful garden area that is open to the public The garden area is beautiful & great place if you want to do a photoshoot. Additionally if you have kids there is a big park for them to play at.

Great park. A kids wonderland. Dress your child up in something easy to identify from in the mass of children running around. Bring cash with you if you didn't prepare water bottles or if you want ice cream from the little independent carts. It's a great scenery even with a hidden rose garden. There's plenty of room to take your choice of location to picnic. Tables fill up quickly. First come to reserve, first to take. There's a basketball court on site with plenty more ground for volley ball set up too. If you have children and they're not afraid to feed the ducks in the man made pond, have at it. Water is very algae like so I wouldn't get too close. Otherwise, decent view.

Heather Farm Park is such a fun place to go for a nice walk or to let your kids burn off some energy! We first came here years ago for a wedding in the Rose Garden but didn't see the actual park. After attending a kid birthday party, we really noticed how big the park is overall. They have a large playground area with a sand play area, so much grass and a lake area for your kids to go duck/geese watching. Park is surrounded by baseball fields, an aquatic center and a long trail that surrounds another large lake area. Since moving to the area last year, we have taken our son here it seems like a hundred times. He loves to go on the trail and go look at ducks or turtles. He also likes the playground and to cool off by getting a snow cone from the truck vendors. Pro tip: show up before 10:00 a.m. on the weekend to avoid the masses and get a good parking spot. Also, it helps to beat the heat in the Summer.

Nice place to walk around. A lot of things to see. Could definitely spend and afternoon there.

As fabulous and family friendly as ever. Natural shade. Nice flat around the pond to cycle or practice cycling. An amazing playground. A little sloppy enough for kids to slide on cardboard. It is kind of big at first so get your bearings and agree on a meeting point.

Huge park. Was here at the end of September for a company bbq. There were a ton of yellow jackets and they were annoying. There's a large pond area, a rose garden, bbq grills, a basketball court, a large playground and an outdoor pool. Bring your own canopy and chairs as there may not be enough depending on your party size.

The garden is lush with many plants to look at. It is also within a close proximity to one of the coolest looking children's playgrounds in the city. Lots of water features including a lake with geese and ducks. The rose garden is beautiful when flowers are in bloom. There's a gazebo and an area which can be rented for celebrations and wedding receptions.

Pond & trees

I needed to kill some time in Walnut Creek & decided to grab some food for a picnic at Heather Farm Park. I'm so glad I did as I was blown away as this is not your typical city park. It has a large pond, it's by a river, there are volleyball courts, an amazing playground, and a botanical garden too! The grounds are beautiful & very well maintained. Check out this jewel the next time you're in Walnut Creek!

While this park is a bit off the beaten path, I will say there is so much to do here for your kiddo (or let's be honest, you too haha). I feel this park has a lot of space and seems to be pretty safe, with Astro turf that I tend to not see at most smaller parks. There is plenty of parking across the street and nearby ~ with walking paths, a community center across the way, and picnic tables that we've seen many birthday parties/gatherings at. There are swings for all ages which for us right now is very nice, and it seems the area is split between age range which is also cool to see. There are fun 'hills' to climb with cardboard to slide down (this is where the Astro turf comes into play), and plenty of slides/equipment of all kinds for interactive and solo play. There are pretty nice 'larger' entertaining pieces of equipment (like a pirate ship that moves/shakes) for the older kiddos, and it's just overall a pretty epic playground to see/be apart of. Well done, can't wait to be back!

A nice walking path goes through the good-sized park, offering wonderful views of the lush lawn and large mature trees. A host of families with their young children were enjoying the playground areas, and locals with their canine companions were out too. A few picnic tables are available, or - as one young woman did - just spread out your towel and have lunch on the lawn. After walking for a while we found a bench near the edge of the park and just vegged out soaking up the sun. A swim center and nice pool is here, although it looks like it's only used in the summer for recreational and limited lap swimming - an under-used facility in my mind. Why not year-round lap swimming? Next door is the Lindsay Wildlife Museum, and although it was closed (open Weds-Sun), a young docent had a red tailed hawk with her and was giving a nice educational spiel. There is no dedicated parking - the one negative. Street parking nearby or in the neighborhoods is the only alternative.

However, we did notice a couple of things. The park is pretty decent sized for an urban park. Lots of grass, trees, picnic tables on one side of the street. There is also a public pool (closed while we were there) and an unisex restroom that was reasonably clean. There were individuals, couples and groups of people enjoying the park. In one area were some musicians with guitars and possibly other instruments. We don't know they were there for practice or a class but when we arrived, one person was playing a song that sounded quite good on acoustic guitar. We also saw others who were picnicking with a dog in tow. Everyone was pretty mellow. The dogs didn't bark, and no one was playing excessively loud music. What could make the experience better for us? We didn't fully explore the park so we don't know exactly how large it is but we're always fans of parks with dog play areas. They don't have to be large, but they do need to be clean with running water and some shade. Plus, there should be separate areas for large and small dogs. Beyond that, locals should feel lucky to have such a nice park to relax in.

Maybe people just drive a lot of trucks in the area, I'm not too sure. There's a lot of shade outside of the park but inside could get pretty warm. I recommend you do that once in a while and why not try a different park from what your used to every once in a while? If you have a dog they will particularly love it sniffing around someplace new. Some of the park is noticed from the main road - Morello. You might even see some people enjoying the basketball hoop from there.
