There are picnic tables available for rental, and it's a great place to host a kids' birthday party. There is some shade in the play structure area, but I wish there were more. There are public restrooms, but they need more frequent cleaning during the weekend. I came here on a hot Sunday, and there were a smoothie/shave ice truck and a soft serve truck parked nearby in the swim center parking lot for purchase.

While this park is a bit off the beaten path, I will say there is so much to do here for your kiddo (or let's be honest, you too haha). I feel this park has a lot of space and seems to be pretty safe, with Astro turf that I tend to not see at most smaller parks. There is plenty of parking across the street and nearby ~ with walking paths, a community center across the way, and picnic tables that we've seen many birthday parties/gatherings at. There are swings for all ages which for us right now is very nice, and it seems the area is split between age range which is also cool to see. There are fun 'hills' to climb with cardboard to slide down (this is where the Astro turf comes into play), and plenty of slides/equipment of all kinds for interactive and solo play. There are pretty nice 'larger' entertaining pieces of equipment (like a pirate ship that moves/shakes) for the older kiddos, and it's just overall a pretty epic playground to see/be apart of. I don't tend to come here much as the grass bothers my allergies, but it's a lovely walk in Fall and hooks right up to the nearby trail.

It's very popular with dog walkers but not much to see in terms of flowers or landscaped scenary. Lots of trees that look wind blown and tired. There's a warning about coyotes. This is supposed to be coyote territory so I was scared to venture beyond the busier main area to explore. There's also a small community garden nearby but it's locked up and you can't enter it but it's super small so you can see pretty much everything from the outside of the fence. A bit of a sad park. I recommended Blake Garden in Kensington which has very limited hours but there's so much more to see there and it's also free.

It's a cute little park on the corner of a nice residential area in Lafayette. One of the nicest parts of it, is it feels like the kids are contained inside of the park. There's a fence around the whole park. I think while we were there, someone sort of "lost" their kid and found them immediately and there wasn't that fear of the kid running off or getting hit by a car because of that gate/fence. The play areas are super cute, there's tons of options for different aged kids. They have this great swing where the kids can go on it at the same time (attached). I love innovative playgrounds like this! It keeps things interesting for kids and challenges them. I would love to come back to this park and if I'm in the Lafayette area, I definitely will!

This park is located right of the 242, its easy to access with lots of parking. The kids get to play in a small scale castle, stores, and boat spaces to keep them entertained. Every time we come here, our older son just runs around until we say it's time to go home. We go for walks in the neighboring park and fields to get some exercise in as well. Check out this park if you're in the Concord/Martinez area to discover something new. They recently updated the fields nearby and parking lot. They have food trucks on the weekends. You will have fun!

Hap Magee's Canine Corral was a wonderful experience for my gentle-tempered pup. Every owner in the small dog area was very respectful and carefully watching their dogs to make sure every pup was behaving well with one another. I really appreciated their etiquette and all the dogs were so sweet. My pup had the best time here and we'll definitely be regulars!

I'm always finding the most wonderful little spots in this city. Been meaning to visit this park for a loooong time. I'd always heard that it was nice. Even drove passed it a million times, but finally stopped by to get a quick little hike in one evening. All I can say is daaaayum. What a beauty!!! Not only are the hiking trails wonderful, but the actual park itself is great. It's super clean with lots of parking and restrooms on site. They've got a kid's playground area, a soccer field, and even a track for some easy exercise. There's also an adjoining park that has tons of picnic tables and outdoor exercise equipment as well as several large grassy fields and walking paths (Hidden Valley Park). And those lakes! They are simply beautiful. They really sneak up on you too. I took a short walking path from Hidden Valley Park and connected to Hidden Lakes. Turned a corner and then BOOM! This beautiful little lake seemingly appeared out of nowhere. There's a nice little waterfall. Not sure if there are actually any fish in this lake, but I did witness one person fishing (or at least trying too). The hikes in this park are all on the shorter side but perfect for a quick little jaunt. You can also extend it by connecting the nearby walking paths for a longer excursions. What's nice is that there are several hills that you can climb up to get some inclines in. And once you reach the top, you'll be rewarded with some wonderful views of tbt entire park as well as some great panoramic views of the city. I was seriously in awe during my entire time here. This is such a gorgeous and extremely well maintained park that's perfect for kids, pets, and families. Will definitely be getting my butt out here again before the end of summer.
