It's a cute little park on the corner of a nice residential area in Lafayette. One of the nicest parts of it, is it feels like the kids are contained inside of the park. There's a fence around the whole park. I think while we were there, someone sort of "lost" their kid and found them immediately and there wasn't that fear of the kid running off or getting hit by a car because of that gate/fence. The play areas are super cute, there's tons of options for different aged kids. They have this great swing where the kids can go on it at the same time (attached). I love innovative playgrounds like this! It keeps things interesting for kids and challenges them. I would love to come back to this park and if I'm in the Lafayette area, I definitely will!

One downside is that there are no bathrooms at the park, so plan accordingly with your kiddos!

Review #136 - 2018 I…read moreguess this is try in most aspects of life, that we rarely appreciate the things that are closest to us until we've already ventured out & then compare it to what is right under our nose. I've been to this park only a few times since the baby's been born so I never realized how nice and clean our park actually is. There's a playground for the younger kids and one for the older kids. There's a good size sand box for the very young ones as well. The baby actually enjoyed the sand box a whole lot more than I'd expected. She didn't even want to leave after spending half an hour there. My son likes coming here because it has a tennis court and there's also a wall for him to hit alone when he doesn't feel like hitting with someone else. The park is within walking distance to all our local shops, bank and post office. The library is only a footsteps away. My son's only complaint is that they don't have a basketball hoop so we still have to drive elsewhere when he wants to shoot hoops with his cousins. There's no picnic/BBQ area, but you can definitely bring a picnic basket and a blanket to sit on the green lawn. We'll come back more often now that I have a newfound appreciation for our local park.

There are picnic tables available for rental, and it's a great place to host a kids' birthday party. There is some shade in the play structure area, but I wish there were more. I came here on a hot Sunday, and there were a smoothie/shave ice truck and a soft serve truck parked nearby in the swim center parking lot for purchase.

It's the perfect spot for a picnic, a party, a walk, for dogs, to take your kids... just about everything! Lots of big grassy fields and tall trees that provide a ton of shady areas. There are tons of kids play areas with slides, swings, and other rides that I'm still trying to figure out?! Yeah... some of those rides look a little strange, but I digress... They have picnic tables galore! You can reserve one of the picnic areas for special events and parties. The last time I was here, someone was throwing a party for their little girl here. It's truly the best spot to do it at! You have a grill and so many tables to host people. This park is connected to a small swim center that has a pool and the most adorable little water slides! It's a hop and a skip away from the Lindsay Wildlife museum. There's a basketball, tennis, and volleyball court on site and restrooms are easily accessible. What I love about this park is that one of my favorite walking and hiking trails runs right through it: the Briones to Mount Diablo Trail! You can park at Larkey Park and take this trail all the way to Acalanes Ridge and even to the backside of Briones Regional Park! It's apart of Walnut Creek open space. There are a few other local walking trails that connect here as well. On nice sunny days, this park fills up with a ton of locals but it never feels overcrowded. Sometimes they have community activities that can be seen on their posted calendar. There's a small parking lot off of 1st and Buena Vista Street but there's also plenty of street parking on many of the side streets. It's a great local park with tons of activities.

I don't tend to come here much as the grass bothers my allergies, but it's a lovely walk in Fall and hooks right up to the nearby trail.
