As many people know, I am hugely involved in the animal rescue community. I foster & rescue animals…read more&I have done so for years. Therefore, if you have animals in your home, & want to keep your home clean & smelling nice, you know, like I do, the importance of using a reputable carpet cleaning company who values their customers. Never in a million years did I think that Upfront Home Service would do me dirty like this after all of our years of working together but I guess that's what happens when a company gets GREEDY. They forget that it is their long time customers who helped them to succeed. Recently, we scheduled a move out carpet cleaning with a few patch repairs. At first, I thought everything was going great until I saw the one patch job. We brought it to the technicians attention & he said that was the absolute best patch that could be done. I didn't agree but waited until it dried. After he left, I went upstairs and noticed that the scent that is usually very pleasant after carpet cleaning was not there but instead the stench of dirty water was present & extremely strong. This was not the norm in past jobs with them so I immediately knew something was not right. I called the office & asked them to send someone over right away to see the job that was done and to smell the odor. I thought Rachel was going to send over a supervisor to check things out the next day but all that came over was a regular technician with a can of deodorizer to mask the odor. I thought they would have redid carpet & fixed the patch but that was not the case. Mind you, my circumstances have never changed during the 9 years I have used Upfront Home Services I have always had animals, & yes, animals have accidents. There was no more or less than the norm. After they cleaned my carpet, the carpet smelt great each time, so they cannot say it was my fault or point fingers. If they had only come out to see for themselves what I was referring to after I asked them to, they would have seen & smelt what I was talking about but they chose not to. A few days after this took place, & after I had a few moments to myself after moving State to State, I wrote an email to the owner, Joseph Pais expressing my concern & instead of reaching out to me personally, he had someone by the name of Daniel Guida call on his behalf. He seemed nice at the time & said he would send someone over to fix. I explained to him that the second visit should have handled this & that we no longer had access to the home. We moved out. I told him we had spent almost $1000 on this work & the least they could do since they didn't fix any of it on second visit was to maybe refund us something. Maybe 15-20 percent of the cost since the job was not done right & no one thought it necessary to stop by next day to see what we were talking about. Well a week later, Daniel did not call me back so I sent a follow up Text to him yesterday. I saw that he read my text but didn't feel he should be professional & reply. I then sent another email to the owner, this morning, & he had the nerve to offer me a refund of $50 & a $300 credit if we ever returned to Texas & needed carpet cleaning. We moved to Florida 2 weeks ago AND WHY DO I NEED TO WAIT TO RETURN TO GET A CREDIT? REFUND ME NOW. THE JOB STILL SUCKS!!!!! If Joseph or Daniel had come to the house, they would have witnessed first hand our complaints & the odor we had after they cleaned it along with the really bad patch job. If our 9 years of business means nothing to them & they insult me by offering me a $50 refund after spending almost $1000 on this past job, then they can keep it. Apparently, they need the money more than I do. Keep this in mind if you need to hire a company to clean your carpet, tile, etc. If my 9 years of business meant absolutely nothing to them, how do you think they will treat you or your home?

On 10/15/2019 I met with Chelsey Haeffner, owner of Grout Doctor at my bosses home. We discussed…read moreregrouting kitchen counter and restaining floor grout in Master bath and Master bedroom. Chelsey brought up the fact that during the regrouting procedure a tile or two may get chipped. If we had replacement tiles then they would be able to replace it for us. Chelsey and I discussed the fact that several large pieces of furniture in the Master bedroom would need to be moved and she assured me that they would move the furniture. On 10/18/2019 , the scheduled day for the work, one crew member arrived. I mentioned and showed him the furniture in the bedroom needing to be moved and his first response was that they just generally work around the furniture. I told him that was unacceptable because there would be a slight color difference in the grout when we moved the furniture at a later date or sold the house or something. I called Chelsey and she said that her husband Matt would be by later to help move furniture. After waiting several hours for Matt to arrive he acted inconvenienced and unfriendly. He refused to move a tv cabinet and an amoire. At this time I also noticed a tile on the kitchen counter was chipped. I questioned whether it happened during regrouting. (this is not my home, it my bosses home) I had never noticed the chip before. I brought this up with Matt , his first response was denial and wouldn't even consider the notion that their process did it. I tried to explain the agreement with Chelsey to replace chipped tile and he just went off on me. He yelled and told me they would not replace the tile. I kept trying to explain my position but he just talked over me and continually cut me off. He wouldn't let me speak and was clearly trying to intimidate me. I asked him to leave and I walked into the office and proceeded to call Chelsey. Matt followed me into the office and continued to rant. I asked him to leave again, He didn't. I got Chelsey on the phone and told her to listen to how Matt was yelling at me. Her response was, what will make you happy. I said, replace the tile. She said okay and then Matt really escalated in his anger. He yelled, "he didn't care what Chelsey said, they weren't replacing the tile. I asked Matt for at least the third time to leave the property before he finally did. This was becoming a little frightening and not something I have ever experienced with any contractor I have worked with. Due to may job, Home Manager for almost 20 years, I have dealt with 100's of contractors and have never had to ask one to leave the property At this point even if they offered to replace the tile, I would not feel comfortable or safe having them in my home, my bosses home or anyone else's home. This man has anger issues.

Neither handyman removed the old grout, they just grouted right over the old grout! With the lighter color change, you could see the grout peeling off almost immediately. I truly didn't want to write this review, but at this point, it feels like my only option…read more I reached out to Stephen at The Grout Express to resurface the travertine tile and redo the grout in my master bathroom. Our initial communication went smoothly, and I was quoted $1,100 for the job, scheduled to begin on May 29. In hindsight, Stephen did seem a bit pushy about securing a deposit, which should have been a red flag--but I went ahead and paid a $240 deposit via Zelle on May 24. The evening before the scheduled job, I hadn't heard anything, so I reached out to confirm the appointment. Stephen replied with an arrival time, but then messaged me the next morning at 7 AM saying he had Covid and wouldn't be able to start. He offered a refund or the option to reschedule. I chose to receive a refund and asked to be contacted when he was feeling better to reschedule. Unfortunately, it's now June 5, and despite multiple follow-ups and repeated assurances, I still haven't received my refund. I was told it would be returned by 3 PM today--again, nothing. This experience has been incredibly disappointing. I urge anyone considering The Grout Express to be cautious. If a deposit is required, avoid using payment methods like Zelle that offer no protection. Use a credit card so you can dispute the charge if necessary. I trusted this business, and now I'm left chasing a refund for a job that never even began.

Steve, the owner, did a great job with the initial tile cleaning--credit where it's due…read more Unfortunately, that's where the professionalism ended. After waiting the full recommended time to shower, the grout shrank immediately. He came back under his "warranty," and the exact same thing happened again. From there, it was a full-on ghosting act. He then claims he wants to "contract the work out" instead. When I declined, he responded with 'since you're refusing, I'm not giving a refund.' This "contracting out" excuse was already tried once with the imaginary technician. Now, in a last-ditch effort, he claims I have structural damage, which he and I both know I don't have. I re-grouted the area myself after all this drama... and I'm a rookie! It looks and holds just fine. Bottom line: tile cleaning was good, but the follow-through was a disaster. Steve makes promises, dodges accountability, and fabricates stories. If you're considering The Grout Express, know this: once he's paid, you're on your own.
