Wrote a pair of reviews in 2021, all optimistic that -- with some simple work on staffing issues and (more importantly) staffing logistics and training -- this place could be great. They haven't and it isn't. It's a pretty place. The food is good. The coffee is meh but with the loss of Bellecour and (apparently) Penny's, the closest good coffee shop is Jones and that's way out in the awkward Ridgedale gov't building spot. Wayzata's food scene dipped in the pandemic, to the benefit of spots like Grocer's Table which is above average. It's clear that a *LOT* of money has been thrown at this restaurant. The restaurant is Instagram-pretty and Shea architects was hired at one point to design it. Why not spend some of the money and effort on improving staffing? Why is it always a mess here? What set Bellecour (RIP) and it's related restaurants and cafes apart wasn't merely food, but commitment to the concept of hospitality; I'll give Macanda credit for following that model in Wayzata. Throwing a bunch of employees into the mix without training them on customer experience is a glaring (but very correctable) problem. The answer after all this time is they simply don't care... I'll summarize as I have since October 2021: This place still has the potential to be great. They just need to understand the patron experience and train the staff. I hope to one day update this rating. The 3* are an average weighed down by service. Money can only buy so much. read more

Food was great, as I've experienced before but I had to do carryout and there's little parking that time of day. On my way to pick up I got a notice my food was ready AND a phone number for them to bring it to the car, which they very promptly did! read more

I've been lurking on The Grocer's Table since they've opened. It sounds like they have the ideal concept... specialty grocery items, a deli, bakery, and made-to-order dishes that seem elevated. Welp, yes, I like that a lot. Buuuut, I was disappointed from my first visit (pick up), however I definitely plan on giving them another chance. We ordered and pre-paid for takeout online, which was an easy and appreciated process. But when we arrived, it was unclear how to get our takeout order. There was a line at an empty host/ess area, a line by the barista, and a line by the deli. We chose the line by the deli but I waited outside because it was so packed inside. Next time I'll specifically order park in their lot for curbside pickup. We ordered: Butternut squash soup, Spanish tuna sandwich, Autumn cobb salad, a pecan pie bar, and chocolate chip cookie. Unfortunately, we received the wrong soup (some sort of sausage soup, though it was for my pescatarian partner), and the bread of the tuna sandwich was very dry and crumbly, and the pecan bar tasted overwhelmingly of dates. But the Autumn salad was incredible -- LOVED the poached pears and lardons. The thick, soft, chocolatey, and slightly salty chocolate chip cookie was our favorite thing overall. read more

Bad service, waited 30 minutes for food. No cell coverage, and they would not give me the WiFi password.

The place is great , I loved the feel inside and the decor and the lovely little items they were selling inside. The food variety was also great and the drink and coffee variety was endless. I got a arnold palmer lemonade and a avocado toast (basic I know) but it was delicious regardless. I also loved the friendliness of the staff, I just wish inside it wasn't so crowded during covid, I went to sit outside but it was cold. read more

The rating on Yelp is hard because it's one ranking for overall experience. The food is fantastic! That's 5 stars. There is a wide range of options from sweet to savory. There is something for everyone. I love that it's all in house, scratch and you feel the time and work put into each piece. It's not just getting food, you are getting art. Their delicious bakery section is to drool over and they have family style options. Now for the reason I gave 3. And was really bummed. Was the experience. They DO NOT have any covid limits going on from what I could see. I was being bumped and ran into in the store. The lines are filled when waiting to place your order. It was very uncomfortable. We had made a reservation well over a week ago for a table for 6. It was weird on the phone I was told groups of 6 were the max but there were tables of 8. And the state law I am pretty sure is 6 at the moment. First time being here and very excited I wanted us to have the chance to be prepared. Safely when we walked in we were seated and not told anything else. Like that you get your own water (canteen was empty and I had to share with staff to get it refilled) and that you order at the counter. It was confusing because the idea of the hall is to take orders to go or eat there. They do bring to your table. Except for drinks. The lines like I mentioned were very long and mixed. It was not well noted that the two lines could order everything vs one being a good line near the kitchen and the bar being drinks. We had brunch at 12:30 Sunday. By the time we got there they were out of all mimosas, the pear cocktail and gave us the apple cider drink but didn't even say anything that they didn't have the per drink we ordered and just sent us the cider drink. It was still good but they have fresh pressed OJ but when asked for a regular mimosa as their one of the month was out the staff said no we can't. It was a bummer that everything we wanted was out. Felt penalized for having a reservation at barely halfway through the day. My friends coffee that was supposed to have flavoring had none. We also were wondering why they have family style Bloody Mary house mix, but you can't get one at the store? The staff seemed flustered and too busy to give us guidance or apologizes. There was one staff member who was very kind but had no name badge so I can't give him credit. Again good food but should work on crowd control and looks like still has some kinks to workout in flow, product inventory and staff managment. read more

The food, service and ambiance were spectacular. The only major recommendation that I would give is to have some sort of sound proofing. Echo control is major when the place is full of people talking while drinking spectacular coffee:) read more

Went for dinner this time and had Cam as our server who did a great job and answered all questions. The charcuterie was amazing! Literally best I've ever had, so fresh and what a variety. It could be a meal for two! The steak and slightly spicy sauce was fantastic, very tasty, tender and cooked perfectly medium rare. Brussel sprouts side was also delicious and fresh. They also have Prosecco- based "cocktails" which were excellent, they call them "shrubs", and I forgot to ask why. :-) Great experience, love that they take reservations as several in Wayzata don't which is annoying. Keep it up! read more

This was my first time visiting The Grocers Table. I loved the ease of the space with plenty of seating for large and small groups. Our lunch and coffee/tea drinks were great (and filling)!! I especially enjoyed my Salted Caramel Apple Bar later that day! I picked up a small jar of their salad dressing because it was that good! I definitely recommend and will be back again. The next time I'm going for the breakfast quiche. Yum! read more

Called ahead today to get a feel for if we needed a reservation and if they were serving inside, outside, pickup.. you know the Covid drill. Stephanie who answered the phone at about 3:30 today on a Friday said come on by we are first come first serve inside and out but it might storm at 5:15. She was right.. we were able to order at the counter and pick up our sangria, go outside to the patio and our food was brought out to us... and yes.. .heavens did open shortly after 5:30 after we dined . Vanessa was also great. We will be back. See my photos posts regarding the food we enjoined. read more

I was happy to try the new restaurant but disappointed when after I placed my order was told I couldn't pay with cash...LEGAL TENDER. I used my card. I was disappointed again when my order, breakfast sandwich with scrambled EGG WHITES was delivered and it was INCORRECT. It had egg with yolks...and they were runny scrambled eggs. I picked them off and ate the homemade English muffin and bacon. They tasted good. I'm in no rush to come back. read more

Long wait, ok food, expensive for what you get. The atmosphere and decor is cute and I get why folks might like it over the faults above. We just didn't think it was worth it. read more

I'll update my review to the food and service once you guys either get WiFi available or put a cell phone booster in there... it's a concrete bunker so once you enter your phone goes to SOS mode only and you have zero ability to send a text, check an email, google anything that comes up in conversation... I literally have to think twice before doing coffee inside with someone... read more

We recently did brunch here and really enjoyed our meal. It is a lovely space a half block from the lake and we were lucky to snag a parking spot across the street on a bustling Friday morning. It was quite full but we quickly found a table for two - they suggest finding a table and then ordering, but if you do so, someone has to stay at the table while someone else goes up to order, so the set up is a little awkward. It has a very "Wayzata" feel - IYKYK! I'm an OG Edina girl so I think if you are a Minnesotan you will know what I mean... That being said, the food was tasty and filling, so the price tag was not as inflated as you might otherwise think. I had the breakfast burrito, which was delicious, though I would have liked a little more variety/spice. They did have hot sauce available, including one that was truly hot (hubby learned his lesson in not reading the label carefully!). I would definitely go here again if I was in the area. They have a large space adjacent to the cafe that looks like a high-end event space complete with bar. There is a variety of seating options from tables and bar seats to high top tables and seats with a view of the street. read more

Really good food, just hard to find seating. Staff are helpful and friendly. Adds up quick for counter service, though.

Love this place! Definitely make a reservation, because if you don't you probably will not get a table. But the food was so yummy and I highly recommend!! read more

Finally made it to this place! They would definitely get 5 stars but I think it's overpriced and the concept inside was a little confusing. We had a reservation and were shown our table, then just sat there for 15 or so minutes not knowing if a waiter was coming or not. We eventually got up to stand in line but split up thinking you could only order drinks at the bar, turns out that's not the case. It was also super packed and people were not spaced out. The food on the other hand was amazing. I tried the hash and the breakfast pizza. The breakfast pizza was so good!! Everything was so flavorful and you could tell the ingredients were fresh and of great quality. I definitely want to come back and try some of the other food items and not to mention all of the good looking bakery goodies! read more

Love this spot for a quick and easy meal in Wayzata. Lots of shaded tables outside which is nice for those hot summer days. You order inside and they bring the food out to you. Nice spot to even just meet someone for a cold beer or coffee. Tons of parking out front as well! read more

The food was not the issue for this 2 star review. Everything we had was actually quite good. The issues were in the overall dining experience. First visit to restaurant. Went for breakfast on a Saturday. You find an open table and seat yourself. No menus at table. Up to counter to get menus. When you've decided what you want you go back up to order. You place your order and tip at this time. (Not sure what I'm tipping on at this point. No service has been provided or food received). Ordered specialty coffee drinks (that you have to go pick up yourself as well). Got our own water out of self serve dispenser. (Had to wait for staff to refill). We were sharing dishes so I had to get up and ask for small plates once again. Also, plain black coffee-not even one free refill. When we were finished eating had to go back up to counter (and wait in line) to ask for to-go container. Our table was far from the counter but at times the line to order was quite long. People waiting in line were right next to dining customers. Overall disappointed in our experience. read more

Discovered this place by accident and we have since been there 3 times in 4 weeks. Dinner and brunch. Good tasting food. But they need to get better organized with Magnago the tables inside and outside. Some you can reserve some not, if you get there nobody knows what is available. They are friendly and try but are missing a better process. read more

I tried to support this business 'cause they where vigilant trying keep their patrons warm. But..... we experienced the 'clueless privilege' from the owner & her karen groupies. We sat down outside by the toasty fire pit , ordered food to go & wine. Then they (karenites) showed up & occupied the other fire pit. Our short poured wines came out in plastic cups. Theirs 'very long pour' wines came out & in wine GLASSES, hmm Then there food came out and our carry out never came out. And each time the server appeared, she was beckon by the karenites, so we didn't get any service. I had to go inside to get my carry out. Others patrons sitting & standing (waiting for seats) in cold, getting no service. Everyone laughing & commenting about all of the above issues. This must b a private club. FYI, the carry out was suppose to b med rare ribeye, it was very expensive well done roast beef ;( read more

Excellent food, atmosphere, service. Wonderful Wayzata location. Really great place to meet.

I wanted to love this place but sadly the food did not meet expectations. The 2 stars are for atmosphere because it is dripping with cute character and decor, but sadly there is little to be said about the food or service. We came for breakfast and found a seat outside without problem. We went inside and ordered and they were out of water in the tank so we only got 1/2 cup for 3 people. We were told it would be refilled shortly. We checked back 2 more times over the next 30 mins and it was never refilled despite asking numerous times. The food was also disappointing. We spent $7 on thick cut bacon and got 2 very small pieces delivered. When we asked "is this really the thick cut bacon" the answer was "yeah, all the pieces are a different size". We also ordered the quiche of the day which looked good but was extremely cold as if they pulled it out of a fridge and put it on a plate without heating. I would go back for grab and go pastry and coffee but likely not for any made to order meals. read more

Enjoyed a dinner out with a group of friends on the patio here. The patio is small but accommodating and we were able to snag the reservation the day before (highly recommend reservation for larger parties but the indoor area seemed more easily achievable if you just had 2). We decided to order a bunch of items and share amongst the 5 of us which I highly recommend. The steak was good, but I don't think I'd need to order again. Cooked perfectly but not anything I'll dream out. The Crispy Chicken salad was delightful. Creamy yet light and bright with the lettuce! I enjoyed the bucatini but it wasn't my personal choice for a hot summer day, so likely would enjoy more in the winter. My favorites that I'd head back for were by far the wood fired pizzas. There are a lot of joints in the cities offering great, creative pizza these days but these were damn good! The Shroomin' and the Pork Belly - try them!!! Service was good overall. Only wine and beer offerings so don't visit when you're craving a martini. They did offer a few cocktails made with wine and they were effervescent and lovely. Parking was a nightmare even on a Wednesday so be prepared for 10-15 minutes of hell for that. I ended up on the roof in the very back spot in the parking garage behind the restaurant. read more

Terrible Terrible Terrible. I am a handicap person who was waiting in line with only two people ahead of me. It appears that the prioritize everyone BUT the people in line for coffee to go.. It took 20 minutes for them to take three peoples orders while the bar and the bakery were able to keep fronting coffee orders. Finally after showing them how impatient we were someone (I assume a manager) came to take the order and then said.......it will be another 15 minutes. At that point and standing on broken legs for 20 minutes I was like are you kidding me? The barista then told the mgr she would just make it but at that point I was done with the insult saying that to a handicap person. Read the room. The treatment and organization when there is a handicap person standing at the front of you line for 20 minutes and then telling them to wait another 15.....unbelievable. Why on earth do they not have a separate station for people ordering to go and if they are going to let the bakery, bar and restaurant front run orders then close that line!!!!!! I think it's time for an ADA complaint! read more

It was a party of four of us on a Friday afternoon (ages, 90, 68, 60, 28)... hoping for a nice "girls lunch" (three generations). SO difficult to find a table and staff were not helpful. We did find one and it took over 10 minutes to get the table cleared from the other (previous) party. My sister finally just picked it all up and took it inside. The wine is Uber expensive; although I love a good WIllamette wine, it is overpriced there. The food was good (extremely SLOW), but they forgot one of the salads (kale) and apologized but did not refund (it was charged on our ticket) for the extreme delay. It (salad) did get there after we (others) finished eating. Unfortunately, it may mean the Grocer's Table can't handle it. Service: horrible 1/5 Food: 4/5 Ambiance: 3/5 They will have to pick up the pace if they are going to make it in the hot Wayzata food market. read more

Stopped in the other night to celebrate a friends birthday. Patio is first come first serve. People literally hovered nearby tables so the minute a group came up they sat down and had to wait for table to be cleaned which was disappointing. This is cafe style in that you have to enter the building and place your number and they provide a table number where they will run food to. Alcohol you have to kind of hover around the bar or check back in to see if your cocktail was done which I agree with other reviewers on it being overpriced. So my rating at this point was 3/5. Ambience inside is stunning! Who ever designed it did an amazing job 5/5. When we ordered we requested the charcuterie board early and the rest of the food comes out when they are ready. The cheese board was great no complaints and easy shared between 3 people. I ordered the salad and which dressing came on the side it was drenched( great flavor very light just way to much dressing) 3/5. The salami Italiana pizza was the highlight 5/5. Great portion size easily can be shared with two people and great topping shortages. I did not try the pasta but was told to rate it 4/5. The Meatball is huge and a little overwhelming. read more

First time visit, excited to try out. Pancake was good - that was about it. Counter service - hate it but figure will try it. Nope, not a fan of this concept. Outdoor seating - all wet from rain last night. Guests had to wipe down tables. You'd think this would have been done by the multiple staff on duty when they opened. Coffee - not bottomless. Pay per cup = rip off. Covid-19: not enforcing mask wearing of customers walking in/out and around. One of the servers even had their mask off while talking with customers inside. While the pancake was good overall service and experience not worth a return visit. read more

Came here for a breakfast meeting and the space is beautiful. I didn't try the pastries but they looked incredible. I ordered the breakfast burrito and was very disappointed. It came out cold and with the shredded cheese totally unmelted. It also was just eggs, potato and cheese for $16!! In their defense, I did tell them no sausage, but still, that's a pathetic excuse for a breakfast burrito. My associate had the same thing (with sausage) and had the same review- blah! I'll happily pay $16 for a delicious breakfast burrito but this doesn't qualify. The people next to us got lunch (a salad and a sandwich) which looked much more appealing.
