They first gave our drinks right after checking out which was nice since we'd been out walking a while. The Mac & Cheese Stuffed with a good serving of macaroni! Crispy on the outside, came with chips. Mac was pretty simple and not really seasoned, which works for this. They had Tabasco available. Was great with the big pickle they offer as an add on. The Apple Brie & Caramelized Onion Added bacon. Loved the creamy Brie spread - easier than eating pieces of Brie with rind. Still, this one wasn't as good. There was more bread than filling, there was only one singular slice of apple and it tasted old/soft, and the onions were red and also weren't caramelized. Needed something more to it, but did also come with kettle chips and got the job done. Overall would come again to try something else! read more

We were determined to try as many smaller places in Saugatuck as we could. This place was high up on the list! They have a decent list of sandwiches to choose from. We ordered the tri tip grilled cheese and the macaroni and cheese grilled cheese sandwiches. The area to sit was really cute! Little picnic benches with umbrellas surrounding the cute little shack you order from. I think the people were nice...my husband did the ordering while we enjoyed the people watching. Looking for a quick, easy, delicious meal while out and about in Saugatuck? Look no further. The Grilled Cheese Shack is not only adorable but puts out some of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I have ever had. Combined with some tasty sides and cold beverage options, I've never been disappointed in my meal. And perhaps their biggest draw for me, in addition to the friendly service, is that they have a patio with plenty of seating to accommodate kids, pets, and parties of all shapes and sizes. I think there were 3-4 dogs enjoying the company of their families while we were dining most recently and it was so nice to see. And located so close to the river front park and chain ferry, taking your food to go to eat at any number of local parks and benches is always a good option too. Make sure to note they are not open outside of the summer (starting Memorial Day), so be sure to confirm that before planning a trip. We went back in September but I remember it well. They had been out of almost everything and every cheese. The poor kid working the window felt so bad that they were out of so much so we decided to stay and order. So all four of us got Classic grilled cheese with cheddar and a cup of tomato soup. I'm 100% sure it was Campbell's tomato soup too so I was disappointed. It's a cute little shed with plenty of seating with picnic tables and umbrellas. The sandwich were cooked well and tasted fine but they weren't anything fancier than what you can make at home. The kettle chips were however the best part of the meal! read more

Grilled cheeses are delicious and while on expensive side it was an easy solve for dinner and eating outside. Ordered the lemonade and it was basically water and when we asked if they it was lemonade they said it was water but didn't offer to reimburse or give a sprite or something in place. Love this concept and the sandwiches! Cute little beachy hut with spectacular comfort sammies. Nice size patio with umbrella covered picnic tables. Customers are friendly and share tables with each other when it gets busy. The combinations available are numerous. Our sandwiches were very large. Should have shared one with the hubs, but we didn't. ( I was bursting!) Variety of breads, cheeses, meats and vegetables to make your dream sandwich. Kettle chips are a perfect side, but you can get a cup of tomato soup too. We grabbed beers from next door at Wicks's Park and had a glorious outdoor lunch. I was looking up a quick place for dinner on Yelp, and this place came up - with only five Yelp reviews, so I figured it was newer, but it looks like it opened in 2020 or thereabouts. I looooove grilled cheese so we decided to try it. We ordered the goat cheese sandwich and also the Apple Brie one. The Apple Brie was delicious and definitely my favorite of the two; originally my boyfriend and I were going to split both sandwiches, but I ended up eating about 3/4 of the Apple Brie and only 1/4 of the goat cheese one. The goat cheese sandwich wasn't bad, but I felt like they tried to stuff too many ingredients in (spinach, etc.). Both sandwiches also came with kettle chips, and we also got one of their big dill pickles, for $1 I believe. The only con about this place is that it's indeed a shack, like the name says (a little trailer, basically) so there are no public bathrooms ... I usually have an intolerance to dairy, so we took the sandwiches to-go and ended up eating them in a park about 1-2 blocks away, since the Saugatuck public bathrooms are right there. If you are eating on the premises, though, they have picnic tables outside right next to the trailer. I'd like to try more of their menu, so I'd come back again next time I'm in Saugatuck. read more

My family and I were disappointed with what seemed like such a cool concept for a food stand. We arrived later in the day when things seemed pretty chill and not too busy. The staff was slow to acknowledge our presence. Okay, cool, they seemed young. When we placed our order, we were told that the fryers weren't working. Maybe that explained why they were slow to greet us? We went ahead and ordered 3 classic grilled cheese with bacon and a Mac and cheese grilled cheese. The staff was visibly irritated and treated us like an interruption. We waited for twenty five minutes. Then, they call out our order....And only three of the four sandwiches were ready. They said the fourth was coming, but it never arrived. We went and asked for it. The food did taste pretty good. Well, three of four did the fourth wasn't hot.
