Very disappointed with service that we received tonight. We have used this restaurant many times in…read morethe past and have never been unhappy with any aspect of the service received. Although thos evening was a different story... Booked a table in the usual way (over the phone) days in advance only to be turned away on the night as there was no booking recorded. Myself and my party of 5 was offered a table although was also told that we could only stay for an hour which we thought wasn't fair as we had reserved a table to enjoy a meal for our occassion. Not happy at all.

Finally made time to try Cristina's the casual steak house. First thought, didn't expect to find…read moreany mid range to fine dining resturant in Barking, let alone a steak house. Although it is surrounded by butchers and the area is super busy, it does not really shout out wealth. There is no trendy bars, or cafes, not even a Costa or a Starbucks. So I applaud for such a business bucking the trend, and bringing something much needed which is a bit of charm and quality. The venue it self is surprisingly larger than the shop front suggest, plenty of space to move around, wide tables and fat apart. Nicely decorated with a mixture of being rustic and a bit of art decor charm. Good job keeping it simple and casual, after it is just a rectangular room. The food - quite decent, but can be improved. First the starters was excellent, well presented, full of flavour, but not over powering, and with such a variety. Four of us, had four different starters. - and cooked quite well. The mains - I asked for a medium rare, but was serve a medium, but nvm. The mains comes with two sides. And size of the steaks was decent. The steaks them selves wasn't bad, there was plenty of seasoning, but the meat itself was on the average side. I would not call it prime, then for the cost, I would not complain. Deserts - a nice variety and tasted very fresh and home made, they certainly made an effort with putting together a desert menu. There is good selection of wine and drinks. The service was really good, friendly and efficient. Overall for the price and location and the service, quite value for money and decent food. I would definitely come back to try again

Incredible service, a wonderful touristy atmosphere, and really delicious food!…read more We took the cable car over the river, which is definitely the right way to approach O2. You're taken out of your familiar element and end up walking into O2 like it is it's own world. Once you get passed the metal detectors and security, you'll enter a very darkly lit restaurant with cow prints everywhere. You're reminded from the get-go that this is not an establishment catering to vegans. Hell, the mushrooms are cooked with bone marrow. Our waiter bent over backward to make sure we ordered the best wine for our budget and continued to supplement our table as the dinner went on with different sauces and condiments he thought we'd enjoy dipping our chips into. At first, I thought we had ordered too many chips, but by the end of the night, we had consumed everything. From the perfectly cooked steaks to the Latin-inspired corn, everything was great. Gaucho is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area, but seeing as it's a chain, I would not go out of my way to make this a destination. Always chose local if you can. :)

The interior and feel of this place is very dated. It looks straight out of the late 90's, early 2000's with stark color choices, no warmth to the space at all, and a general feel of wear and tear on everything; a few seconds is all it takes to start feeling some regret about your choices. Unfortunately the food confirms it. We tried some empanadas, both beef and the chicken+chorizo versions, and they were okay - I've had better almost everywhere. But the steak was the real let down. I chose the specialty cut of the ancho (Rib Eye) and while it look pretty tasty, the texture was good, and the temp was perfectly medium rare, there was almost no flavor at all to the meat. Chimichurri sauce did not help it nor did the name "Ancho" which suggests there is going to be some bold flavors kicking out of this steak. To be fair, British beef has been very underwhelming in general so the locals clearly need to start from a disadvantage but as many cuisines and chefs have demonstrated there is a lot you can do with an otherwise lower quality piece of meat - none of that knowledge is demonstrated here. Service was mostly non-existent. Skip it.
