Black&Blue - very aptly named conjures up images of carnivores and meat dishes.Yes you guessed it-its a delectable little number where the food served is simple and well cooked. The main courses are only meat ranging from burgers, chicken fish and some very nice salads using the highest quality ingredients. If I am going to eat meat I always like to know its origins- the waiters here are well keyed up on all animal welfare issues.

Black & Blue is an American style steak house with several branches in London. Upon a visit to the first London based branch in Notting Hill, located at the top end of Kensington Church Street, we samples a variety of the delights that Black & Blue had to offer. The decor is light and airy, with flaming torches (officially called 'flambeaux') at the entrance, an open bar, wooden tables and comfortable couch style seats. The skylight windows also make a pleasant accessory on a sunny evening. The cuisine is similar to Tootsies, down the road in Holland Park. Unsurprisingly, Black & Blue is the baby of Alan Bacon and Nick Hill, who also launched Tootsies back in the 1970s. For starters, we had butterfly prawns in crisp breadcrumbs, a small rib eye steak and barbeque square ribs generously accompanied by fries and salad for the main courses. Dessert was rounded off by a shared chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream. Black & Blue most definitely serve large portions, so make sure that you're hungry enough to get the full benefit of your meal. The customer service was good. I had a quick glance around at the other guests and they also seemed happy (which is a good sign!). For a 3 - course meal plus drinks; expect to pay within the region of £25:00 per person.

Terrible. Sub-par meat, the "cocktail bar" is a joke, and service was unattentive. Avoid.

Ive never had an experience where someone does something like that yet nobody apologized or made sure anybody was ok. They continued about brunch like nothing happened. I was sat immediately and chatted with a few of the waitresses who worked there to see what they liked and what was popular. I ended up going for the Mac Daddy I believe it was called. I also opted for the lamb fries and thank god I did!!! I have to say those were possibly the best fries I've ever had in my life. They are covered in a jalapeño sauce that isn't too spicy, but has excellent flavor. The fries basket was also covered in red peppers and a lot of lamb. Seriously, the fries were divine. The burger was also good, but I'd recommend you ask for it cooked well...there was a lot of pink left in the middle of it (a little too much for my liking). I had a few beers that hit the spot as well. This place has great food and excellent service, I highly recommend it!

Came here for pre-theater anniversary dinner with my wife. The ambiance was somewhere between that of a trendy club and nice bar. There was a mad scientist vibe with the lights being industrial vibe and some metal decor. The music was thumpy and loud enough to remind you it was there. It made me feel a bit out-of-place as somebody well past my 20s, but also a bit cool or being there. You really come here for the drinks. We got the pipe dream, smokey old fashioned, honeypot picante, and one other I can't remember the name of, but which came in a flower pot. The pipe dream and smokey old fashioned were likely the best. Overall the drinks were more visually appealing than traditionally good and the visually appealing ones tended to have ingredients that weren't as top shelf and/or they were just too sweet. Not bad, but disappointing for what we'd hope. The food was the opposite. I had low expectations and the food wasn't amazing, but was better than average. We got the bao buns, crispy duck pancakes, panko halloumi, katsu curry, and hot honey pork tacos. They arranged for it all to come out in time for us to make our theater show, which was nice. The bao buns and pork tacos were probably the best. Neither blew me away, but both were solid. The katsu curry and halloumi were standard of what you might expect. The crispy duck pancakes was maybe as advertised, but it would have been nice to have some moistness or substance to the dug vs. it basically being crunchy salty bits of something. Overall, this wasn't a bad meal, but it wasn't quite what I was hoping for either. We may be back, but we'll probably try other things first.

I also got two oysters, to try and I'm so glad I did! Ambiance was nice and our server was super friendly. It was saddening to see the lobsters in the tank, looking half dead and two fighting while one had a claw free. I definitely wouldn't have eaten had I seen that first. So I dinged a point simply for this reason. All in all, great experience.

We went on a Wednesday night, and it wasn't even crowded with plenty of seats. The quality of the lobster was not good. I noticed the center of the lobster tail was a bit undercooked and didn't taste fresh. Also, the claws were very dry. I ended up getting a really bad stomachache after dinner that lasted the entire next day. Maybe I just got a bad lobster, I don't know. But for me, the burger was the only thing that was tasty here. All I can say is that I have tasted very fresh, juicy lobster at other restaurants compared to this place. For a place that's supposed to be known for lobsters, this establishment was a major disappointment.

Baby back ribs: not necessarily fall of the bone type of ribs, but if you give it a good tug , some of the meats will slide off its axis. I enjoyed it for what it's worth. Obviously, the smoker is limited in scope , so I'm not expecting Texas style quality. Was a little chewy in some places, but also tender in others. Had a preference for the chiptole bbq sauce rather than the hickory. Fries were mostly good (minus the tiny bits). So close to the meats, the fries absorbed some of the smokiness flavor. Slaw: low-point of the bbq. They used way, way, too much dressing. Like it was flooded. Also the cabbage wasn't cut finely, but presented as whole chunk slices. Would definitely not recommend this one. Overall minus the slaw, I enjoyed Bodean's

Greasy Goodness…read more.. We were pleased when we stumbled into Ed's..... We were taken by surprise, and we liked it, we liked it alot. The little bustling restaurant definitely has plenty of atmosphere, we loved the Happy Days swinging 50s thing. The service staff were upbeat and good fun. It is a great place to take the kids or have a teenagers birthday party etc etc. But measured on the BURGETRON.... Not great... The food was cooked and presented like a slightly (and I mean slightly) up market Fish and Chippy. Not expensive but not cheap. The coke floats we so eagerly ordered weren't great either. A random hotdog glided past my eyes glossed in goo cheese and also sadly didn't look overly appertising either. We were a bit disappointed that the food wasn't very nice after being so excited initially, it was busy though so maybe on a quieter day the quality might be a little better. The menu was interesting and there were plenty of options including a choice of two Vege burger, cheesy fries, milk shakes, choc sundaes....all the usual Americana Diner things... It was loud and crowded so if you're looking to chill.... Best not go on the weekends... So in closing.... go and have a look...take the kids... it's no food destination but definitely fun... anyway ....as Fonzi would say.... Ayyyyyy!!!!!
