We stopped here about 9:30am on a Monday morning. It was a little busy but not too bad. We had a seat at the counter. My wife says it's a cute little diner. Menus were provided and our drink orders taken right away. My wife ordered the fresh squeezed orange juice and she said it was very good. They don't serve lunch until 11 a.m. so breakfast it is. My wife decided on the breakfast burrito, enchilada style which comes with potatoes and I chose the gravy train potatoes which comes with toast and eggs. Our meals arrived rather quickly and looked good. The potatoes seem like frozen hash browns not homemade. The mimosas are tasty (though I'm not indulging today as it is a long drive back to Montana. This morning Vanessa made me a beautiful latte. The fresh squeezed orange orange is great. While travelling through Winnemucca NV, my fiance and I were looking for a good breakfast place. We saw "The Griddle" with a full parking lot, many bikers (this is a positive sign) and a line at the door. A check showed this restaurant has been operating since 1948, specializing in breakfast and lunch. All I can say, fresh squeezed orange juice, the finest freshest ingredients, home made cinnamon rolls, and I won't even get into the eggs, bacon, coffee and hashbrowns. I think ditto to the other 5 star reviews basically sum it up (take a read). Restaurant was very clean and we'll maintained, considering the age of the building. . I did not find the service to be steller, but I am not going to reduce the rating. It was a Sunday and many of the bikers may have been coming back from Reno Street Vibrations. The place was packed, everyone was asking for things and the servers were very polite and doing their best. Perhaps another server on the floor was needed. Stopped in here on our way back to Boise yesterday. We hadn't been here in years and walking in yesterday brought us right back to the last time probably over 10 years ago. Walking in some might think the overall ambience is outdated and I would say yes it is but its what makes this place unique. Winnemucca Nv has some really deep history and knowing a little bit about that and they types of transitions this town in the middle of nowhere starts to make a lot of sense. It is 1st come first serve with the tables but the wait staff is all over it and gets you seated as soon as possible. Plus everyone that was working yesterday had great attitudes and working as a team really helped our experience go well. The food to be honest was middle of the road but tasted very fresh and when it came out was piping hot. I had the scramble which was bacon, sausage, onions, green peppers and cheese with hash browns. The eggs were good but a little overpowered by the green peppers and I felt like while fresh the hash browns were not cooked enough for my liking. My daughter had the croissant sandwich and loved it and her friend had the bacon and eggs which was also loved. The service for me is what would get me coming back and is exactly what I remembered from years ago. Pancakes we fluffy and good. Taste and looks like the kind I make at home since okay 3 for $7. My husband was thinking that once he started eating this expensive small burrito, that maybe it would blow him away with the taste. Not so much. Staff is very friendly, multiple people checked on us throughout (to me, this is crucial for great service). The hubby had Caribbean French Toast which he loved, and two eggs on the side.
