We got here around 10:30am, plenty of space to wait about 15mins outside in the sun on a crisp fall Sunday morning. Staff is very friendly, multiple people checked on us throughout (to me, this is crucial for great service). The hubby had Caribbean French Toast which he loved, and two eggs on the side. I had fresh squeezed oj (yum) and breakfast burrito - which I paid $1.50 more for it to be "smothered" in homemade enchilada sauce... but just had a ladle of sauce over the middle. I'm vegetarian so requested no bacon, sub mushrooms. He said that wouldn't be a sub (therefore additional $$?) but I didn't feel like debating. Coffee wasn't great. 'The Griddle' makes driving this long stretch of Interstate 80 in Nevada worthwhile. We stop at this cute café every chance we get. The food is great, servers are super friendly and the vintage atmosphere is fantastic with cozy, comfortable booths. We went here for breakfast twice in the space of two weeks and both times our meals were delicious. Our coffee cups never went dry and the fresh squeezed orange juice was sweet and tasty. Their homemade Quiche Lorraine is one of the best I've had and the serving size is very satisfying. My husband had the full breakfast with a peach crepe which was delectable and tasted like a rich dessert. We always look forward to eating here every time we're in Winnemucca. Our server seems to be the least friendly of the bunch, just straight to the point. No smiles, no coffee refills from our server. I love this place. It is a combination of an old dinner and country kitchen in one. Their menu is great with everything, breakfast or lunch being very appealing. I highly recommend the fresh squeezed Orange juice or lemonade. I finally decided on the meat lovers omelette. We ate here a year ago and had really good food: the quiche and chicken fried steak. Unfortunately today that was not our experience. We were seated quickly and our order taken. But we waited over 30 mins for our food and it was not hot. My husband ordered chicken and waffles assuming it would be good due to the prior experience with the chicken fried steak, it was not. The chicken was literally 2 strips of the grocery store frozen variety--terrible. The Belgian waffles were fine but cold. The real maple syrup served along side this dish was the only redemptive quality, so do not order unless you're cool with mediocre that costs you $18. The better choice is the chicken fried steak for 17.50. I ordered the Auntie MO's Spuds: hash browns mixed with onions, bell peppers, bacon and cheese then 2 eggs cooked to your choosing and toast. Again, it was fine albeit not very hot, and I felt the hash browns were under cooked. If you are traveling through and want breakfast or lunch this place can be a good choice, as the staff is friendly and there is inside and outside seating, but ask questions about dishes to ensure you are getting their better offerings and not frozen foods. P.S. My son had a cheeseburger, and he said it was good; however, fries were cold and not very good. read more

I stopped in here for breakfast and it left me heart broken... It's almost a perfectly good reason to relocate to Winnemucca NV from California. The food is that good, really good. I'm heartbroken because there isn't a single place where I live that can compete with The Griddle for breakfast. I had the eggs benedict which were amazing with a homemade hollandaise sauce and two poached eggs, with center cut canadian bacon (the real loin, no pressed stuff or thin cut ham), on top of an English muffin. Wow, it was really good. You can always tell when the Hollandaise sauce is fresh made from scratch, it has a nice brightness that works perfectly with the eggs. My friend had scrambled eggs with bacon and a crepe. She said the bacon and eggs were fantastic but the crepe wasn't cooked quite long enough, and it was obvious that it was not. Too bad. Everything else was so good I couldn't let that stop me from loving this place. read more

As of July 30th, Yelp reports this restaurant permanently closed. To paraphrase Mark Twain, reports of its death are greatly exaggerated. They have - I believe temporarily - closed on Tues. and Wed. due to staffing issues, but I suspect they will open back 7 days a week at some point. (Monday might be closed too?) Anyway, the staff was very attentive and very competent. The place was packed at 6:30 in the morning, which says a lot. I just had the french toast which was great, but this is my only time there. However, I heard several customers telling the wait staff how much they enjoyed their meal. Recommended by a Reno friend. The most awesome perk: they offer a to-go free coffee if you ordered coffee, which is so great for travelers like myself. Go there. read more
