The server was very nice, which was a great start. The portions were healthy and there was plenty to choose from for lunch. My moussaka was good, but the ground sirloin patty on top was lackluster, dry, and under-seasoned. My meal came with a salad--loved that. Salad was fine. I was a little underwhelmed with the food, but I did enjoy the hospitality!

On a perfect day to sit outside we visited The Grape Leaf. Dinner starts at 4p and we arrived close enough to order from the menu. I ordered a chicken kabob with choice of two sides, and I selected basmati rice and a greek salad. It was delicious! The chicken was a bit more seasoned than I'm used to but with the rice it evened it out. My husband enjoyed his lentil soup and gyro sandwich. The Grape Leaf is a longstanding restaurant in Louisville. It is showing its age, including the patio and its tables, which needed a wipe down; however, the food is as good as I remember. Prices are reasonable and as good (if not better) as some casual takeout spots. Service was friendly and paced well. I appreciated not being forgotten on the patio. Street parking available.

Went on a Saturday evening pre be years we've. Not much crowd. Unpretentious place. Very casual. Great service. Food too a bit to arrive but it was ALL delicious.

The food was flavorful and pleasing to the eye. The interior was dated and needed some renovation. Our server wasn't very friendly, he was younger and seemed like he wanted to be anywhere but there. He also had AirPods in, which shouldn't be allowed if you're interacting with the public (in my opinion). I would recommend this place purely for the food experience if you're new to the cuisine!

You order at the window, take a buzzer, get your drinks and find somewhere to sit. We (a party of 4) showed up around 11 on a Sunday morning and the line was already out the door. We had a hard time deciding what to order because everything we saw coming out before us looked just as delicious as the last. After the owner greeted us and gave a run down while in line, we settled on the shrimp and grits, steak and eggs, bread pudding french toast with a side of bacon, and a chicken and bacon croissant sandwich. (I wanted to order the biscuits and gravy weekend feature but they were already sold out.) The girl at the register was polite but very soft spoken so we had trouble hearing what she said. The coffee was the perfect temperature for drinking immediately without scalding yourself, and the different flavorings and types of milk/cream to choose from was a major plus! There were no complaints about any of our food except the steak was a bit under seasoned. I had the french toast, and, in my opinion, is enough for 2 people. There was a bit too much whipped buttercream for me but I was able to rake off majority, and the fruit that came on top was so fresh! The bacon was thick sliced and 3 of my 4 pieces were cooked perfectly to my liking - not too crispy, not too soft! We all were part of the clean plate club after eating because the food was that good! I wished now we would have taken pics of our food before eating! It's a shame it came up as #16 on my Yelp search because it wasn't even the least bit on my radar for our breakfast spot. But luckily, the tag line, "The second best thing you can do in the morning", caught the attention of one our male guests Definitely will be back when the chance arises!

The restaurant has a back parking lot and on street parking - the restaurant is quite large with two indoor seating areas and outdoor patio seating. The menu is large with a big brunch menu, lunch and entree options and kid's menu. We started with the s'mores hot chocolate and apple cider mimosas. The hot chocolate was pipping hot and delicious topped with toasted marshmallows. The apple cider mimosas had a weird flavor, I would recommend going with another fruit juice option. We ordered the kids buttered noodles with waffle on the side - big wide noodles that were swimming in butter. My son thought it was too much butter but loved the type of noodles. The waffle was good - not very sweet but he enjoyed it. My daughter loved the chicken and waffles entree, but I thought the portion was a bit small for an adult entree. The chicken was freshly breaded but the waffle was on the smaller side. The sandwiches and soups were delicious - we had the club which was filled with ham and turkey and the perfect amount of mayo. The tomato soup was creamy and so satisfying. The Ruben was a good size and stuffed with corned beef and melty cheese! Overall we had a great experience- a bit on the pricey side. The orange juice was amazing super fresh, natural, and sweet. The cinnamon roll was good (not the best I've ever had, but still enjoyable). The food overall was solid. The banana bread French toast was really good, the eggs were cooked well, and the biscuits and gravy were also very tasty. When it's said "they don't make them like this anymore", this place is what they mean. Ornate, elaborate and straight out of another era. It was about half full. Service is quick and friendly. From looking around the room, it seemed that most people ordered the Hot Brown even though there is an extensive menu of other options. The Hot Brown is an open-faced turkey sandwich. A thick slice of turkey is served over thick-sliced bread. The turkey is covered with mornay (béchamel with Gruyère cheese), topped with bacon, sprinkled with parmasean and broiled in a gratin-dish, served with a roasted tomato. It's gooey and cheesy, turkey moist and tender, bacon crisp. Very hearty, very filling. Unique, definitely worth trying. Not sure I'm having another one, but glad I experienced it.

Foko was hopping during a recent weekend brunch, but despite this the staff made time to answer questions, provide recommendations, and ensure we had everything we needed for a truly excellent experience. Although it was busy we only had to wait a few minutes for an open table, so it's clear they've curated the inside space (both practical aspects like seating, and aesthetic aspects like decor and art) intentionally. Dishes we tried included: -Avocado toast: a generous pile of gently seasoned avocado spread on thick sourdough. -Enmoladas: GAH THE BEST. Thick corn tortillas wrapped around perfectly cooked and seasoned vegetables, rice, and beans. This dish is entirely vegan as is, and includes both vegan feta and vegan crema. -Mango bowl: a big old (not actually old) mango served with tajin and a lime wedge to squeeze on top. If you haven't tried tajin on mango this is the place to do it. -Cubano coffee: just get this. It's perfect. Brunch here is not cheap. But brunch here is worth it. And you are worth it. So go.

The place is positioned as this incredible Mexican breakfast destination, so I figured it had to be something special. Turns out it's just standard Mexican food and drinks. Even if they were using using "the freshest most highest quality ingredients", it doesn't show in the final product at all. Heres what i got: The Espresso Martini ($14) was actually decent--nice and foamy with a solid chocolate note. The Carajillo ($8), on the other hand, was weak. It tasted like plain iced coffee with zero detectable alcohol. I wouldn't order it again. The Wake Up Burrito $14: their biggest hype item. I got it and added chorizo for $3.50, bringing the total to nearly $17.50. It's sausage, cheese, eggs, and beans wrapped up--pretty good, but nothing groundbreaking. Without their green sauce it's completely average, no different from any regular breakfast burrito at a diner. The green sauce itself is what really the only saving grace, but they serve it in tiny thimble-size portions like they're guarding some secret recipe. So for $18 you get a medium-size burrito plus a couple of fried tortillas with cheese on the side. Compare that to mexican spot like Bandito, where the burritos are twice the size and cost much less. This one is seriously overrated. The Chilaquiles - I got the side order of these with the burrito, and were average at best. Just fried tortillas with cheese and a little sauce that had a slightly sour edge. Not bad, but nothing I'd call amazing. I thought to myself, if these had egg and beans(what the main dish has) , would I have been glad to pay $17? The answer is no. Ive had better at the airport. Bottom line: Foko is incredibly overrated. It feels like a tourist trap built for people for those Luisville people who who don't eat much Mexican food and think this is the pinnacle. I get it, the decor is nice and gives that "premium" feel but the prices are way too high for what you actually get. I won't be back.
