This was my first time here. I was super excited to try something new. I ordered from the website in advance. I picked up my food in person. The restaurant was clean but small. There were not many tables to dine in. It seemed as though the children sitting at one of the 4 top tables belonged to one of the employees or owners. Which I understand as a mother but it can cause issues for paying customers if there is nowhere to sit. Luckily, two customers got up and moved from one of the other 4 top tables so that the customers that walked in with 2 adults and a baby seat could have the larger table. The food that I received tasted good. Really good. However, it did not look anything like what I ordered from the website. My meal was listed to have toasted pita bread and rice and even pine nuts on top. But It came with white potatoes and pickles. The desert I ordered was supposed to be "flaky layers of phyllo pastry" with honey and what I received was more like cornbread with cream in the middle. That was super disappointing. I'm just not sure where the disconnect is. Was I not ordering what the photo showed? I may call the store to see what they say. But the food did taste good. And I didn't wait too long from the time I ordered until I received my food to go was around 20 minutes which is what the website quoted me. I may return but not certain. read more

Food was okay, I guess. The prices are cheap which is nice. However, the actual restaurant inside was disgusting. Trash and food all over the ground - seats missing from tables. Every single table was dirty. There wasn't a single napkin at any of the tables. Not one. No paper towels in the bathroom when I washed my hands after touching a mystery substance on my table. The trash can was stuffed to the BRIM. I had to push down to get my trash into the receptacle. Also the staff seemed completely disinterested that I was there. They missed order notes over and over to the point where I just surrender and accepted my bowl was going to come however it was going to come. I don't know if they can't hear me or they can't understand English or what was going on with that. Took about 3 minutes to pay, with my bowl just sitting there on the counter and nobody helping me. Really solid food! Had the Chicken Shawarma with fries. I'd definitely have it again. Menu looks robust so will want to try something new next time. Seating is limited but very comfortable. So excited to discover a new spot to quick-eat while shopping (and navigating the minefield of a parking lot) in this area! The service was excellent. Friendly and informative. I went with a chicken shawarma flat wrap (basically two small wraps) and added lots of yummy herbaceous toppings! As someone who has frequently bought shawarma off the street cars where I grew up, I was so excited! And also asked for hot sauce and white sauce. If you are from NYC, you know they do NOT play with your hot sauce. In this case, the hot sauce was not very spicy, but they had so many to choose from! So if you want the heat, ask for it! The chicken was tender, but really underwhelming in flavor. In the future I would probably ask for more sauce now that I know this! I had a great lesson from the 3 very nice employees that helped me. I had never had a Shawarma before I got the steak. They were making one when I walked in and it looked so good, I said I'll take one of those! Turns out I made a great choice. A very nice middle eastern spice. The flat bread it was wrapped in was wonderful. The inside is nice and functional seating. All of the desserts looked wonderful. I definitely will be back, I want to try the chicken. read more

We ventured in on a snowy, freezy Friday evening and it was packed (always a good sign). Despite this the staff took the time to thoroughly answer all our questions, describe menu items with which we weren't familiar, and check several times to ensure they had the correct info about potential allergens in the sauces and condiments. The vibe is fast-casual, similar to Chipotle/Cava/Green District: order at one end, slide along adding various ingredients, receive your food and pay at the other end. Smooth, easy, no-fuss. There are tables and chairs, but beware - they might be full due to the popularity of this place. We ordered: - Fattet eggplant: this is absolutely my jam. Slices of fried eggplant smothered with sauces (muhammara, tahini, garlic, hummus) then topped with whatever (I chose sumac onion, salted pickles, turnip pickles, tomatoes). It comes in a big old bowl and is best eaten with a fork and knife, followed by a spoon to scoop up all that delicious sauce. - Lentil soup: perfectly spiced, delightfully hot, served with crispy pita garnish. - Falafel wrap: self explanatory except for not, because the falafel is exceptional - delicately flavored, not dry at all, and gently smashed so it doesn't plop unceremoniously out of the wrap and onto the table. Pick your sauces/toppings - pick them all. - Hummus and pita: the hummus is very tahini-forward which I like. The pita was served at room temperature; I think warming it up would have been a nice touch. This place is a "chipotle style" build your own meal but also has amazing set meals! The food was so flavorful and the workers were so kind and patient as we were choosing our meals. The falafels were fresh and definitely worth trying. I would definitely recommend this place if you are super hungry as the portions were so generous!! This new restaurant has opened up in the Shelbyville Rd., Plaza. I was very excited to see it as I love Mediterranean food. They are very new. They just opened in January. They're still trying to figure out their groove. So please give them time to figure out what's best for them. The menu is expansive. There are nine different meals that are already pre-plans that you can order in those come with fries or chips or your other option is building your own dish, which can either be a wrap or a bowl. I decided to go for a rice bowl with falafel and then choosing my toppings. I went with the pickles, tomato cucumber, and the white and red sauce to top it off. It did take a while to get my dish, but that was mainly because they made my falafel fresh. I would definitely go again, and change up my options that I would add to the dish itself. Amazing food! The flavors were insanely potent (in the best way) you can tell they put care into their food by the way it's prepared, cooked and presented. I had the rice bowl with shack chicken, safe to say we are stuffed and very pleased. Will definitely go again and you should to! I want to also note the workers were super friendly, gave suggestions for flavors that would go well together which we appreciate. Not bad if you are looking for a quick bite.I have tasted real shawarma and this is unfortunately not it.Mostly what set it aside is the quality of ingredient, the pickles are obviously cheap, the chicken is dry and tastes mostly of paprika (enough to give the illusion of flavor if you squint), the garlic sauce is surprisingly pleasant and the pita, which is not house made, but produced at Al Sham markets near Golden Key Market was delicious.Overall 5/10 on a more exact scale, minus one for the EXTREMELY dubious hygiene standards in the place, and the fact that it was 40% overpriced minimum. It comes off as a tourist trap-esque establishment. PSA, if you want the best of the best, go to Al Sham market I mentioned earlier, it is farther away but absolutely majestic shawarma. read more
