Entrance hall to the breakfast side.

THIS IS HOW BREAKFAST IS DONE! I'm always looking for the local flavor that stands out among the crowd and Breakfast AF (cool name btw), really held true to their brand. Situated an easy drive from downtown, and part of the Schnitzeltown are of Louisville, this apparently was a legacy deli counter back in the heyday and the original corner Hauck's deli sign is still visible. The expansion seems to include a few bars, a pizza joint, breakfast joint, and a revised deli with a smoker actively going at the end of the complex. And it is complex... we sat out front on the patio of the breakfast joint since we had the pup with us, but had I known how large the rear patio was, we would've chosen to sit back there away from the road traffic. I the menu is straightforward... the fare is on the higher side of breakfast pricing, but the portions are enormous and I easily made two meals off my sandwich and home fries. Speaking of which... get it... wich... okay fine. I chose the fried chicken/bacon/egg sandwich on Texas toast and it was... substantial. I added home fries, but honestly, the sandwich was a meal on and of itself. The two succulent chicken tenders exploded with flavor of a distinctive savoriness and that flavor peaked when I dipped them in maple syrup (they have a dispenser next to the coffee pots). The egg and bacon were perfectly cooked, complemented each other well, and the buttery toast just pulled it all together. My wife chose the shrimp-n-grits and that was just a flavor bomb with every bite. Savory grits with the slightly sweet shrimp, topped with smoked pork belly, and drizzled with a chili crisp oil that simply overwhelmed the tastebuds with every bite. It's a line order with pagers, so place your order, grab a table, and the coffee/water is self serve over across from order pickup. The back patio is open air, expansive, and spans the entirety of the multi space front buildings. There's even a soft surface children's playground behind the new deli. I was just absolutely astounded and definitely want to make it back to try their lunch fare next time I'm in town!

So 5 stars may be overkill for this spot. The Indian inspired avocado toast was good and had some good Indian inspired spices paired with the egg and naan. The bread pudding French Toast though was unexpectedly incredible. Perfect amount of sweetness with a very creamy soft center and crispy exterior in addition to a luxurious homemade whipped cream. The restaurant is mostly self service and also has a nice, casual vibe.

We had been wanting to try this place for awhile and it was suggested for Mother's Day! Parking was definitely an issue but we caught someone pulling out. The line was out the door, so it took us about 30 minutes to be able to place an order. You're given a buzzer and you pick up your food. We weren't prepared for how huge the place was outside! Plenty of seating and they had at least three bars for you to de order drinks. We ordered the empanadas and shrimp and grits and both were absolutely divine! The empanadas had a chipotle aioli that was sooooo good! My husbands shrimp in his grits were cooked to perfection. Overall amazing experience. I take a star off for that line! Given the size of the place there should be at least two places to place an order, given that there's three bars!

My family and I visited on an early Sunday afternoon. It was moderately busy, so I was pleasantly surprised to see a playground for kids. For my drink, I ordered the Screwed AF and very much enjoyed it. For my late breakfast, I ordered a side of cheese grits. It was the perfect size and absolutely delicious. I also had a bite of my daughter's pancake and enjoyed that too. Between the playground, fountain, and TV playing sports, the patio was such a vibe. It was the perfect spot for our family get together.

Atmosphere is on point, service is mediocre, food was delicious. Definitely a must try location for breakfast or brunch if visiting Louisville.

Look, if you're the type of person who wakes up hangry and wants your eggs yesterday, this might not be your place. But if you're down to sip some solid coffee, soak up some shade, and contemplate whether your grandkids are cuter than the other patio kids (they are), then welcome to Breakfast AF, aka the brunch spot your whole family didn't know they needed. We were expecting parking chaos, but the brunch gods smiled upon us and BAM--spot right up front. I assume this was a miracle, so don't count on it, but it can happen. Ordering was quick and easy--love that for us--but the food took a while to arrive. Not a dealbreaker though, because the patio is shaded and we were too caffeinated to care. Great place for kids to play if you bring them along. Speaking of food: we had the American breakfast with bacon, a croissant, and eggs over medium--and let me just say, they nailed those eggs. Rare is the restaurant that doesn't undercook them like it's a dare or overcook them into rubbery disappointment. But here? Perfection. Bacon crispy, croissant flaky, and I may or may not have considered licking the plate but remembered I'm a grandparent now and should set an example. The whole vibe is like a brunch commune surrounded by carbs: Pizza AF next door, ice cream a few steps away. I could very easily spend half a day here with my adult kids and grandkids. It's like a family-friendly hangout zone disguised as a breakfast spot. In short: Family-friendly Cute patio with shade Eggs over medium victory Name that makes your mom go "What does AF mean?" Will return. Might try the pizza. Might never leave.

Best chicken and waffles I've ever had! Flavor was on point chicken was super crispy and flavorful, it had this delicious hot sweet chili sauce on them which was phenomenally paired with the sweet waffle! You go up and order at the counter so you don't have a waiter but staff will still check on you and make sure everything's perfect

Not quite 4 stars. Maybe 3.75 stars. My friend and I came for breakfast on a Monday morning. You order at the counter, then they give you a buzzer. Coffee is self serve. They have half and half and alt milks which was impressive. Service was good. They asked if we had been in before and gave us the rundown. Even gave us their recs. I ordered black coffee and the chicken and waffles while my friend got oj with chicken and waffles as well. The coffee is just okay. Kinda watered down but did the job. The chicken and waffles were okay. The waffle is cooked pretty crispy...almost too crispy. And the chicken is just tenders with a light breading. It wasn't dry. The syrup on the side kinda soaks into the waffle to the point where you can't even tell it's there. Just not the most satisfying meal. Could be more flavorful for the price. No really memorable. They do have a ton of seating though. The front room is small. But the back area and patio area is large. It shares with Hauck's. Parking is parallel. Easy. I found parking across from it.

Went on a Saturday morning around 9am. Order at the counter. Plenty of seating inside. Went outside and a lot of tables were filled but still plenty of room. Waited about 15 minutes for our food to come. The smoky bacon croissant was amazing. Also really Enjoyed the French toast and hashbrown side. Highly recommend. Nice breakfast spot where kids can run around.

We were actually not prepared for the line nor the ordering process, it took about 15 minutes to get inside where the place is well air conditioned and another 10 to order. You self serve your beverages and you receive a number and wait for your order to be delivered. It is always a journey when traveling with me since I am not only vegan but also have allergies to soy, sesame and peanuts. So I have to be cautious 30 minute wait for meal was a bit long however it is not fast food which I appreciate but I guess I would visit somewhere else if I have limited time. A word to the wise they do not validate parking here so look for street parking if you don't want to pay 8 dollars an hour The meal was yummy. I ordered the vegan empanadas, they were very filling, the guacamole was excellent with just a touch of pepper which is perfect for a morning meal. My sister ordered a pancake, eggs and potatoes and she was pleased with the flavor. I was disappointed I could not order the steel cut oatmeal, but the brown sugar and glazed walnuts are mixed into the oats making that an option I couldn't choose

We went a while ago and enjoyed it- now the portions have gone down, pricing up and there are so many other places to go.

Breakfast AF has one of the best patios in Louisville, it's huge, breezy, and allows for private conversations and child play without feeling crowded. Having been here before and being amazed I will say this second trip was less amazing than the first. The menu options are just as exciting as their affiliate restaurants Pizza AF and Baked AF. The kegs, potatoes, cinnamon sweets all make your mouth salivate. The pancake is great, it absorbs syrup so well and holds a sweet flavor. My favorite thing is the potatoes, literally any potato from this place tastes like well crafted and like they enjoyed doing it. The eggs today fell flat, I don't expect much. But when the eggs taste like the box a liquid they came out of its more difficult to respect a scrambled egg. The sausage was tough, I think a dog would have a hard time enjoying it. The potatoes and pancake really save the breakfast and their amazing drink cooler selection. I love an Energy V8 and this is one of the only place I know that has it as a drink cooler option. I think this was an off day experience, not disappointing enough to give up on. I would give it a 3 but I know they can do better.

When we came here we did not realize that Proof on Main is a not only a wonderful restaurant/bar but also a 24/7 free museum. You can order drinks and then walk through the exhibits. We just opted to eat breakfast first. As soon as you enter, you are standing in a colorful and fun art museum. The walls are adorned with many different types of art from living artists. The staff also encourages you to walk through the dining room and if able they will walk along as your own private docent, explaining a lot of what you see. We had to pause the dining room and bar exhibit tour for a short time to have breakfast which included: - BREAKFAST SANDWICH - Scratch Biscuit, House Sausage, - FRENCH TOAST - Ricotta, Strawberry, Pistachio - BISCUITS & GRAVY - House Sausage Gravy, Sunny Eggs, Chili Crisp Scrambled Eggs, Melty Cheese, Hash-brown - STEEL CUT OATMEAL - Spiced Apple Butter, Apples, Candied Walnuts I will not go items by item but I will say that everything was so perfect-tasty-fresh. The portions are very robust here and I am sure no one goes aways hungry. They have a lot of unique twists on items as you can see by the menu we had. After breakfast, we resumed our tour of the main floor then the basement. It's hard to describe just how large the viewing area is and all spots within the area are used for some kind of art display... Even the bathroom. Everything is so unique and I tried to capture a fair amount of it in photographs and information about the piece as well. This too should be a must visit if your in the Louisville area. Set aside an hour or two to stop in and relax with some great food and art. KUDOs to the team at Proof on Main.

My top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality and I came here two Fridays ago ahead of a bourbon tour (thinking, correctly, that we should probably have a hearty meal beforehand so we didn't end up face-first in a gutter somewhere). Several Kentucky natives told us that we had to try a Hot Brown during our visit, and since it was literally created at the Brown Hotel, this seemed like the logical spot. The actual Hotel has some gorgeous interiors, especially upstairs in the lobby. We didn't see that area until after our meal, so when we laid eyes on the Lobby Bar & Grill, we knew immediately that that was where we SHOULD have gone for this Hot Brown dish. J. Graham's, I'm sorry to say, doesn't have the history and personality of the rest of the building and just looks like a generic breakfast spot you'd find in any hotel. It probably exists solely because the other dining options in the hotel aren't open until later and they want to give tourists and their own customers a place to eat at all times of the day, which isn't a terrible reason in my book. But it's also unfortunately not very good, and the dirty walls and overall meh appearance of the establishment just make it very clear that the hey day for this hotel overall was decades ago. The service was the biggest miss here. Our waitress was scatterbrained, often not around or around but hanging out with co-workers or talking up other customers. It was honestly pretty mystifying because when she DID come by, she was often overly apologetic and trying to make amends. But the best way to make amends is not to have to keep doing that throughout the meal. She forgot my friend's coffee (didn't write anything down when we ordered, which is fine if you remember everything but...) and when my chum asked what was in the hummus (one of just three apps), she didn't know and had to go ask someone in the kitchen. That's arguably a nitpick and she DID try to figure it out, but the lunch menu is pretty small and it was a little odd that her menu knowledge was that limited. The bigger problem was that we were in there for over half an hour longer than we wanted to be because she wouldn't come by our table. I actually actively looked for her on the way to the bathroom so I could remind her to come to our table, but instead found her off to the side gossiping with other staff. Not a good look at all. So this might have been an overall positive experience if some of the hospitality from the hotel had spilled over here. We actually both enjoyed the apps, which were the only real positives of the experience. The Bourbon Barrel Fries and the Two Timer, featuring Smoked Bourbon Hummus (bourbon tends to be the theme of your days in this town, I've found) were both really good, and I probably ate more of those than the actual entree. The fries were cooked perfectly and were well seasoned/addictive. The Hot Brown was fine for what it was (we split it to try). It's basically a dramatic turkey melt, with slices of turkey coated in cheese and other sauces. It also came with strips of bacon on top, which on a personal palate level I didn't think really helped the dish so I barely nibbled on those. It's definitely a solid entry but it wasn't mind-blowing for either of us. Maybe it's just from where we come from in the Northeast, but I'm conditioned to like my turkey with accompanying stuffing, and usually in the latter part of November. I think it felt kind of weird to be eating turkey with warm cheese. But I'm glad we tried it and got the context at least. You might have a completely different experience with better service, but I'd still recommend going upstairs for any dining. It's a much better atmosphere and you can really appreciate where this hotel fits in the chronology of Louisville. You're not going to get that from going here.
