Chicken Shawarma
Reghan G.

Chicken shawarma is one of my favorite dishes of all time. I enjoyed Kebab house's chicken shawarma dish for takeout. It was nice quality. I opted for the plate rather than the sandwich so I could get hummus and the salad too. Both sauces really add to the dish. I ordered this Friday night and it was fast. The estimated time was about 15 minutes after I placed the order and it was ready when I got there.

We dined at the Kebab House for the first time, it's a small restaurant on Baxter Avenue near all the bars and restaurants. Since it was a late lunch, had no problem parking on the street. Service was excellent, from what I could tell there was one server who was doing it all for the restaurant, which included about 5 tables. We were immediately served a small portion of lentil soup, which was warm and delicious. The menu is simple with plates and sandwiches. I ordered the gyro sandwich and small hummus. The hummus arrived quickly and was a good portion for the small. It was served with two half pitas, not nearly enough for a bowl full of hummus IMO. It was creamy but still had some depth. The pita was a bit dry. My gyro arrived next and it was a very large portion. It was served open, which I prefer, and was smothered in the tazeki sauce, lettuce, cucumbers and gyro meat piled on it. The meat was very good. After our meal we were served a small portions of sweet clove black tea. Sweet was an understatement, but it did help us warm up since the restaurant was a bit on the colder side. Overall a good meal.

4.5! We stopped here on New Year's Eve for a bite to eat. The waitress told us immediately that the restaurants heat wasn't working brrrr. The complementary lentil soup sample, warmed me up. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate and my partner ordered the beef and lamb Gyro with fries. The meat was tender and flavorful. The hummus was delicious. The small salad lacked flavor. Our fries were forgotten, we had almost finished by the time they arrived. Our waitress seemed a bit upset, my guess, she was also cold! Solid food, seasoned really well. I will return next time I'm craving mediterranean.

Mixed plate and falafel

I stopped in for a late lunch between appointments in the Highlands. There was someone at the hostess stand to greet me warmly and show me to a table. The space is cozy, funky in a good way and comfortable. Surroundings looked clean. The smells of the food cooking were tantalizing, I couldn't wait to order. I sat near the window and it was nice to watch the bustling foot traffic of the Highlands. This is a good place to eat on your own. I chose falafel for an appetizer and the chicken kebab entrée which comes with rice, Greek salad and hummus. Everything was served in a timely manner, hot and fresh. The falafel were crispy and delicious. Just the way I like them. The hummus was so warm and creamy, absolutely delicious. The rice was fluffy and flavorful, and the Greek salad was good as well. The chicken was well seasoned with a good taste, but the texture was a little weird to me. I had to check it to make sure that it was all the way done and it was. Maybe it's just something about the cooking process, but it was still good and I still ate it. Service was courteous and warm, but the nicest touch was that when I was about 2/3 of the way finished with my meal, the server quietly sat down a small Styrofoam cup of warm tea without a word and walked away. She did this for each customer. It was just a few swallows, but it was delicious, sweet with a hint of spice. I don't know what it was, but it really made my day, the kind of a small touch in an establishment that really makes a difference , a small but meaningful gesture that makes you feel like you are cared for. I felt like the prices were fair for the amount and the quality of food. I will definitely return.

Pistachio Baklava

I ordered delivery for the first time from Kebab House, and overall it was tasty! I got the chicken shawerma sandwich. This is made with marinated sliced chicken wrapped with garlic sauce, salad and pickle. And like I said, tasty. I wish there was a bit more chicken in this sandwich, but otherwise it was good. I also got a piece of pistachio baklava -- thin layers of phyllo dough stuffed with crushed pistachio topped with honey and lemon syrup. This was a large piece of baklava and such an indulgent, mid-day treat. Overall, Kebab House seems like a good place to order from. I would do so again.

Reservations are on a 60 day rolling basis It's an extremely small space. I would say the space holds 45-50-ish people max, but that's including the bar and eyeballing it, so I could be crazy wrong. First thing I want to get out of the way, everyone was SO hospitable. Colton was our server and he was absolutely AMAZING. So attentive, but not annoying, helpful with recommendations. Mediterranean has many definitions these days, but I would describe this is as from the Levant region, either Palenstian or Israeli. It's hard to describe the food here because it's all delicious. We started with the cauliflower. Crisp, so well seasoned. I'm not sure how I will proceed because everything was "so well seasoned." We ordered our respective dishes, but got the salatim first, which consists of a bottomless rotating tray of dishes, including pickles and olives, purple cabbage slaw, peppers, carrots, babaganoush, marinated beans, summer chershi, and feta & mint. All served with toasty pita. We all got wildly different dishes. I was torn between the salmon, lamb, and steak. I got the steak, which was crazy tender, but I was so impressed by them that I wish I had trusted them enough to get the lamb (which my server described as not overly gamey). One of my companions got the branzino, which was light and flaky, served as a whole fish. Another attendee got the chicken and was pleased. Someone else got the salmon (served with tomato stew, lemon, and crispy chickpeas), which I sampled, and it was AMAZING. If I go back, I will get the salmon. It was flaky, tender, bursting with flavor. The drinks were all so light, original, and complex. Honestly, there is no way you can go wrong with this menu. I would come back here again and again.

The Salatim was arguably better- the baba ghanoush was insanely good. The rice was just okay, but I asked for no butter so that could've impacted it. Phenomenal experience and I'd come back!

We couldn't decide what to order, so we ended up trying a little bit of everything. The tabbouleh, hummus, falafel, and spinach pie were all fantastic. Every single side was fresh and packed with flavor. The sauces deserve their own shoutout. I would happily take home a gallon of the garlic sauce, and the tzatziki was just as addictive. My husband ordered the Mediterranean salad, and my daughter and I shared the kids' shawarma plate. The salad was massive with a beautiful variety of fresh vegetables. The beef shawarma was incredibly tender, and the basmati rice was perfectly cooked. One thing that really stood out to me was the hospitality. While we were there, a family came in just before closing and asked if they could still be served. Without hesitation, the staff welcomed them in and accommodated them with such kindness. It felt less like a restaurant and more like being welcomed into someone's home. You can tell there's real care behind every ingredient and every interaction. Everything tasted fresh, balanced, and homemade. It left us feeling satisfied without feeling heavy, which isn't always easy to find when eating out. Safier is the kind of place you leave already planning your next visit. We'll definitely be back.

I ordered the shrimp and grits, and without exaggeration, they were the best I've ever had. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, and the balance of textures throughout the dish was incredible. Every bite had the perfect amount of crunch, flavor, and toppings. Nothing felt overwhelming or out of place. It was one of those meals where you find yourself slowing down just to enjoy every bite. Even the water deserves a mention. It was clean, crisp, and refreshing. If it came straight from the tap, I would have never known. It's a small detail, but it speaks to the overall dining experience when even something as simple as water stands out. The service was great, and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. It's easy to see why this restaurant has built such a strong reputation. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 comes down to accessibility. As a person with a disability, parking can make or break a dining experience. Unfortunately, there was no handicap parking available, and there were no nearby parking spots open when I arrived. I ultimately had to park in a hotel lot about a block away, which cost $25 for just two hours. Not only was the cost frustrating, but the additional distance was challenging given my mobility needs. The food was phenomenal and absolutely worth trying, but I do hope accessibility becomes part of the conversation for future guests. For those without mobility concerns, this may not be an issue, but for disabled patrons, it's something important to consider before visiting.
