Lentil and tomato basil soups with pita
Lisal F.

First - it's open! Several internet search results say otherwise, but I can very much guarantee Caspian Grill is open and ready to feed you. This pleasant establishment is an order-at-the-counter and choose your table sort of place, lovely for a casual lunch or dinner. There are a few deli options as well as the regular menu with appetizers (the eggplant is particularly delicious), soups/salads/sides, sandwiches, and entrees. They also have several desserts including baklava. There are a good amount of vegetarian/vegan options, including the lentil soup which is arrives properly piping hot in an adorable single-serve Dutch oven, accompanied by perfectly warmed pita bread. My dining companions very much enjoyed the tomato basil soup (vegetarian as made with dairy) and the falafel sandwich with fries. The gentleman manning both front and back of house was very welcoming, knowledgeable, and considerate, warning us about the temperature of the soup, ensuring we had everything we could possibly need to enjoy our meal and even bussing our table at the end of the evening. Pricing is quite reasonable for the quantity and quality - Caspian Grill - I'm a fan.

tomato soup and crispy pita bread

Gyros, falafels, greek salad, fresh gelato, soup Caspian Grill has been a part of our holidays and summers since 2006 on Frankfort Avenue when he just served gelato; he would let my daughter test the homemade zesty lemon gelato. Yesterday she talked to him about it 20 years later. Falafels made on sight are the best! The Prices are very affordable too! Good to see an old friend and hope you try the lamb gyros like my other daughter. I tried the wonderful tomato soup with crispy perfect pita. Plenty of seating and yet still cozy. Place and pay for your order the counter and then it is brought to your table. #CrescentHill #Louisvilleplacestoeat

Had both standard and chicken gyro and both are excellent. The varying deserts are homemade as well.

I used to live in Mason, about 2 miles north of Phoenician Taverna. First time there was for a late…read morelunch. After a Great Clips haircut, on the recommendation of the stylist, I tried it out, was very impressed. Been there many times since, never been disappointed. I've since moved to Liberty Twp. but the Phoenician still beckons. Had dinner last night there with my wife. It was a wonderful experience. I felt it was high time I wrote them up. We started with an excellent double-hop IPA and a great Lebanese red wine, I think it was called Kefraya. Gonna seek it out locally, maybe at Jungle Jim's. As always, the pita bread is fresh, oven-hot and delectable. The shankleen appetizer is outstanding, a lovely fusion of greens, lentils, feta cheese, olive oil and spices. Wife ordered schwirma - slow-grilled combo of sliced chicken alongside sliced beef and lamb. The waiter obligingly substituted a side of couscous for rice, no extra charge. I had a braised shank of lamb in a rich tomato sauce. Both entrees were delicious. As always, the portions were very generous, so we took food home along with complimentary fresh pita bread. Besides the great food, the service is superb. The owner makes a point of stopping at each table to ensure that the diners are happy. We look forward to our next visit.

Finally she made reservations for Saturday evening (it is recommended because they get super busy). We got there and was greeted by the owner. BTW, was very down to earth. So their menu looked good (Lebanese food). There is so much to choose from and hard to decide. I especially loved their drink menu, especially wines. We ended up ordering: Appetizers: Baba ghannouge M'hammara Taverna falafel Dinner: Shawarma chicken Kebab mixed grill Drinks: Chateau kefraya, Les Bretches Almaza Pilsner My favorite from the appetizers is the eggplant and falafel! Super fresh and the bread that came with it was so good. Even the dipping sauce was amazing. My Shawarma chicken was super delish. You have to put the garlic butter on the rice! It gives it great flavor. My Mr enjoyed his meal as well. We definitely had to get a to go box because there was so much food. But we will look forward the next day to eat it. Overall, the service was great and I loved the experience. We can see ourselves coming back for more! I can see why my best friend loves it here! Highly recommend you try it.

Good Belly has made me realize that I need more Jewish delis in my life. I'm sadly bereft of delis…read morewhere I live, so when I come across one during my travels, I make it a point to visit. This deli hits all of the high points. Matzo ball soup? Si. Corned beef and pastrami sandwiches on rye bread? Oui. Black and white cookies? But of course. Latkes? Well, this one surprised me, because I didn't think a deli would serve latkes, but why the heck not? For good measure, there's even a signed and framed photo of Larry David hanging on the wall. This is my kind of place. The thing to get here is the corned beef with pickled cabbage. The sandwiches here are huge, but you can get half of a sandwich with chips, and it's just the right portion for a nice lunch. Along with my half corned beef sandwich, I got the matzo ball soup. That's a pretty big matzo ball hanging out there, like Seinfeld would say, but it's hanging out in a clear chicken consomme. The matzo is the size of a whiffle ball, practically. It's dense but gives way easily under the slight pressure of a spoon. It's a very satisfying and comforting soup. My children shared a grilled cheese sandwich, which they liked but were thrown off at first because the cheese they used in the sandwich was white. So if you have a kid who likes yellow/orange cheese, maybe keep that in mind. There are lots of tables inside and out, but Good Belly gets very busy, and we barely got a table. This is also a great place to get takeout, if you're not feeling like fighting the crowds.

My boyfriend gets the corned beef and he loves it. The chocolate chip cookie was good too! This time around I got a side of coleslaw and their potato salad. The coleslaw was the best I have ever had. The potato salad was my second favorite I've had, only after my mom's. The coleslaw was light, crunchy, and flavorful. The potato salad had a really nice lemon flavor. The atmosphere is pretty cool in here! They've got a lot of movie and show references all around the place.
