Very cozy and cute brunch spot with the most instagrammable location in Kings Court. We made a reservation a few days in advanced which I'd definitely recommend, it was a long queue for walk ins even at noon when we were there. The menu is varied and looks to have great options for vegetarian, smaller options and entree sizes. We ordered mimosas, shakshuka, feta hash, and the pretzel challah. The mimosas were small, however they opted to put ice in them. Unfortunately the shakshuka was good but lacked that spicy punch we were looking for, similarly the pretzel challah was dull in flavor and not that soft squishy inside you look for in challah. Overall the food was tasty, just a bit mild in flavor. The service was really friendly and accommodating, but a bit disorganized when trying to sort the table, and it took a bit for food and service after ordering. The Good Egg is in a divine location, nestled into the corner of the small, cute Kings Court in Soho on the first of three floors. The ambiance and cute blue and white decor was framed by hanging plants, racks of wine, and elevated bars with an open kitchen. They advertise themselves as "sort of Mediterranean food" and truthfully, I think they lost all the flavor in that "sort of". The coffee was good, the vegan babka bread was to die for (don't leave without trying it) but the rest of the meals were bland, and the ruffage and couscous ended up mostly untouched on our plates. If you go, make sure you get the "yoghurt sauce" (vegan tahini and spice), the hot curry sauce, and the orange shawarma sauce for taste. My husband and I visited last Sunday afternoon around 3pm, just in time before brunch ended. I decided with the veg Jerusalem breakfast and my husband the brisket hash. I was a bit annoyed you can't swap the fudgy (terrible name!) eggs out for another version/ preparation because you CAN do so if you don't get the Jerusalem breakfast. It seems an arbitrary decision that doesn't appeal to customer service- no surprise in London I guess! Anyway the aubergine in tahini is simply phenomenal; I would have that alone next time. It's incredibly rich and savoury. I also loved the creamy beetroot dip and the labneh. Complex flavours were only enhanced by the herbs sprinkled atop. The whipped feta oddly was not my favorite although a waiter raved about it. The halloumi was just fine. My husband loved his brisket; the portion was huge and he said the meat didn't have much fat which he appreciated. Service was spotty. One waiter with a small black ponytail brought my husband his coffee and didn't bother responding/acknowledging when my husband said thank you and barely glanced in his direction. But the waitress who took our orders (which took forever to arrive and the restaurant wasn't even that crowded) was very cheery. If your a walk in there is quite a wait but is worth it. They have a creative menu but it has limited gluten free options and staff didn't seem adiment on diatary needs which is not usal for London which is not reassuring. The interior is Lush it has won multiple awards and the staff can tell you all about it. The toilets were out of loo paper which could have been awequed for someone who does not check. But staff were very apologetic and got right on that problem. read more

Took some friends here and ordered the following: - Ox cheek shawarma - Za'atar fried onion rings As a lover of ox meat the shawarma was tasty especially when dipped in its accompanying harissa mayo. The cous cous wasn't special, lacking a bit in flavour but the pickled cauliflower helped make up for this. The onion rings were disappointing, being far too sweet. It's one of the simplest yet tastiest sides you can get but I just think they tried too hard. An overall positive experience especially as the staff were really friendly but the food alone isn't worth a return trip. read more

The location is premier. The place was about 20% full. We were a larger party of 6 with kids and they didn't want us to sit in the more comfortable corner because it was reserved. Well the restaurant never got fuller. The service was not great. Our server was not knowledgeable on the menu, and very tardy even in an empty restaurant. We watched our appetizers sit on the counter for at least 15 minutes, that our apps and main course all came out at the same time. The food was interesting. I actually liked their twist on middle eastern food. We had a large variety of menu items and all were good. The eggplant shawarma was good. I'd pass on the squash hummus, it was pure garlic. I wasn't really sure what to expect when I entered the area near the good egg. It was the lively spot in the area. I was worried that lively would turn into a drunken mess. But it didn't. All of the restaurants that share the space in what I would call a multi level courtyard with the center being the entertainment/ dance floor, all managed the tables in the courtyard and yet them from being rowdy. Now the food... it's was yummy. The deviled eggs were awesome. Great service. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to people watch and have a good time. read more

I was all enthused when I read that this spot had opened in Kingly Court... and planned a lovely lunch there at half term, imagining all the delicious egg creations they would have. I've obviously got this whole "egg" idea wrong because I thought we'd be able to have breakfast, or a late brunch with eggs. Nope. You can have 3 cold boiled egg halves in a little ramekin, sprinkled with mixed seeds. Or you can have shakshuka... that's it ! Say whaaaattt??? yup, they don't do eggs any other way. You can't have a scrambled egg. You can't have a poached egg. And you can't have a boiled egg that's warm with a soft runny yolk. Nope. Teensy-weensy little flat bread for a big-old price tag. And freshly squeezed orange juice that was half filled with massive ice-cubes. Bad Egg. Won't be going back. Splat! read more

The shashuka with halluomi (cheese) was absolutely amazing, it had an incredible tomato sauce with yogurt and eggs. The Jerusalem plate was nice because you could try a little bit of everything but after the shakshuka it was not even as close as good. The service here was absolutely amazing, I really liked the environment and at 3:30 when we went there were no lines and there was plenty of space. I really recommend going here to try new flavors and also walk around the area which is also really nice. read more

The Good Egg turned out to actually be the very, very average egg. I was quite excited to try this new Soho branch of the Stoke Newington favorite, particularly given my Montreal roots, however, despite some tasty dishes, I have no urge to return anytime soon. Similar to other reviews I'd noted on the Internet, the service and general restaurant operations were atrocious - Our main waitress seemed incompetent, barely uttering words to us as we sat down and when we requested the bill (we had to follow up to actually get it). Luckily there were a few other servers around who we could flag down and who seemed a little more with it. She did manage to tell us that they were out of approximately one quarter of the menu items, despite it only being 12:00pm and they'd only been open for 3 hours. The wait between ordering your meal and the meal being delivered was extremely long, and lengthened further by the fact that a) my eggs weren't ready with the meal (the "Jerusalem Breakfast" combo) and delivered late, again only after asking about them a second time, and b) the breakfast combo mentioned above can with one measly mini pita, despite essentially being made up of 4 sauces and spreads - not nearly enough pita to accommodate and try all of them, nor did they provide spoons in case you'd assume you slurp them up with one. Most of the sauces and spreads were quite tasty, but we had to order 2 extra mini pitas, and ask for them twice again, and they still had the gumption to charge us for them. My girlfriends Hanukkah Brisket Hash was better, with quite tasty brisket, albeit a bit dry there was a good quantity of it - only issues with that dish was that the egg was overcooked, so there was no runny yolk to help moisten the rest of the dish. The babka is definitely great, and was delivered quickly. Unless The Good Egg Soho gets their act together and more on point, I'd recommend stopping in to grab a babka to go, rather than spending your cash sitting down. read more

I had a decent meal here on opening night. The staff was quite friendly and while a bit disorganized they did a good job most of the evening. We had an assortment of food and it was quite good. We had some veg and some fish and some meats. My one piece of feedback is the portions did feel small relative to the pricing so we ordered more than I would have usually ordered. Drinks were decent and typically London priced. The main service breakdown was towards the end of the evening when we had trouble getting anyone's attention to get the bill. When a restaurant charges the 'optional' service charge service should be more prompt. Overall worth a visit and a solid 3.5 maybe 4 star. read more

This place is review proof because it is in an incredible location and the food is good, however the service is horrendous and management should address this. Understaffed, which results in complacent workers (because why bother if it is impossible) or stressed out workers (who still care). Food took forever (45 min). Reordering more pita was almost impossible. The waitress who initially helped us kept insisting she heard me when I said "oatmilk cappuccino" - making me feel bad for repeating myself and then of course, brought out a regular cappuccino. Maybe the head office won't let them staff more people as an effort to save money//make bigger profits but it is something that needs to be addressed. Would not come here again. read more

Chanced upon this place while walking on Carnaby street.. it's hidden inside kingly court that has 4-5 restaurants on the ground floor with a very European feel. Tried few items for the first time and all of the food was great.would definitely recommend for someone who wants to explore.. read more

This place has the worst service in London. The staff has no routines, we were served by 5 different people. They were disrespectfull and ruined the entire experience. We did not get what we ordered, and they blamed us for it. They have a bad attitude which led to us leave as fast as possible. Stay away! read more

With several tables empty, they asked us to wait a few minutes and then completely forgot about us. 15 minutes later we checked on our table and she looked surprised we were still there and sat us. Again, we waited ages and finally flagged down a server. Ordered the French toast which they were out of, and then their signature dish. It took forever to come and was inedible. The 'soft eggs' was completely hard cooked, and there was just one. The rest of the dish was just mush. No flavour. So disappointing. I could not eat it. A laid back, easy going food spot in Kingly Court. Have an Israeli twist on their food. Their rib-eye shawarma and friend chicken (ZFC) were great. The pita bread was served warm and nice. I personally prefer the NY style bagels over what they offer, but the charred scallion dip for the bagel was light and good. They seemed a bit short staffed when I visited (Saturday evening), but they were generally friendly and attentive. read more

Like the Stoke Newington original, The Good Egg in soho is a welcome addition to an already bustling local scene. The restaurant is beautifully designed and a pleasure to spend time in. The staff are excellent as ever and the food superb. I love everything on the menu especially the labneh! My only criticism is the limited beer selection available. read more
