This is a great place for dinner. They can handle good size crowds, they have a decent menu of steak fish vegetarian. Wine menu is decent, but not awesome. One thing that made this place stand out is the steak dish and the way they present the potatoes. They take a huge bone, so it in half, and add your mashed potatoes to it. This will be my forever first stop upon arrival! The vibe here is full of warmth and so relaxing, especially after a long day and night of traveling. Go curl up on the plush velvet chairs in the corner by the window, and order a pot of Earl Grey or a Cappuccino while you check out the menu. The service is attentive, yet not overbearing, so you really do have time to relax and enjoy your meal. I recommend the House Breakfast, it gives you an introduction into what is considered a traditional English Breakfast, especially if you haven't had the experience. Now, the menu here changes, I fell in love with the beans that were on the menu in September, when I returned in March the style was Tuscan, I was told in September they were harissa beans, and boy how I missed those, they were wonderful! Make sure you explain how you want your eggs, especially if you don't like runny yolk, fried over hard, does not mean the same thing as it does here. I learned this by receiving eggs fried hard all around but with runny yolk in more than one restaurant, so explain for clarity. This place is wildly pretentious, but I must admit the food was good. It's the kind of place that ask if you have a reservation despite the entire place being empty. (And stayed empty, for the 2 hours we were there.) We got a table for three fairly easily (because it was a Monday and we were there for brunch lol) It's a delight to find a place that does Monday brunch. Service was good, our waitress was lovely and amusing. And the food was brilliant. Turns out, it's a membership place -- which explains why it's so hoity-toity. Guys, maybe add this on your Google profile! The food was really really good. And for NYC standards, cheap. Apparently, not for London standards hahaha. There's an open kitchen which is nice, but all the chefs look miserable. If I was around with an uppity person, I would come back for dinner. read more

Mortimer House was delicious and a lovely spot for dinner. My husband and I were on vacation in London for a week and while we were making an effort to try a new place every night, we couldn't help but come back to Mortimer House for a second time. The food was excellent and they offered gluten-free options that didn't feel like an afterthought. I really liked the open kitchen style and the ambiance in general. The staff were all polite and attentive. I could have done with different choices in the dessert menu but overall the dinner was lovely and we had a great time each night. read more

I really enjoyed Mortimer House. The restaurant is very pretty, the Bellinis and bloody Mary's were fantastic and the avocado toast was very tasty. The shakshuka was good, but the sauce to egg ratio was off (it definitely needed another egg) and they brought sourdough bread instead of pita, but it was still and enjoyable meal. read more

I really loved the brunch buffet for an event that I attended at Mortimer house. I got to taste almost everything on the menu and it made me very full. I especially like the eggs and the vegetarian dishes and the cakes and pastries. Would love to come back here again. read more

I like it here. Now I've only been for breakfast and lunch but they are always attentive friendly and the food is great. Soemtiems I find their potioning small... bhut if you pay more, the sides build your meal. So for that they lose a star. Mortimer House Kitchen just opened last Monday and it did not disappoint. I stumbled upon it and made a reservation the second day it was open. The decor is gorgeous and very clean with a view to the open kitchen in the back. Seating is divided into the front area with couches and chairs and the back area which can seat a party larger than 2. I couldn't stop staring at the plants and the decor. The service was great and very attentive taking our coats upon arrival. The menu is divided into small, medium and large plates. We order 1 small, 2 medium and 2 large dishes for the two of us. This allowed us to try a variety of dishes. The soft shell crab starter was amazing with a side of yuzu sauce drizzled on top. The sausage flat bread was presented very beautifully on a wooden board and was quite delicious. The Tagiolini was delicious with prawns and the seabass was served in broth. We ended our meal with a scoop of Halva ice cream which was delicious and a light note. Will definitely be back! read more

We went here for brunch on Sunday: first the lady at reception tells us that they are fully booked but if we finish within an hour she can get us seated. There were quite few empty tables but we agreed to her 1 hour limit . Full English breakfast was great and of good quality. Service was ok. Long black coffee we ordered was not that great. After 70 mins they asked us to empty the table as discussed but all tables around us were empty. Not sure what they are playing at. They have certainly lost me as a customer because of this marketing gimmick . Two stars because of good breakfast. read more

We stopped inside Mortimer House Kitchen for a glass of wine. The ambiance was so nice that we decided to stay for dinner. We started with Red Hereford beef carpaccio that was dressed and embellished by black truffle shavings, Grana Padano, pickles, and sprouts. The dish glistened to the eye and there was brightness, freshness, and balance to its flavors. The date's main was grilled octopus with charred pepper, Taggiasca olives, and harissa. Not appealing to the eye, but a great cook to the octopus with a background of smoke. Tasty. My main was the homemade tagliatelle with prawns, courgette flowers, and sprouts. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the rich sauce tasted like it was infused with shrimp stock. The dish was generous with the prawn-count and the sprouts brought a nice texture and dimension. Excellent. For dessert we went with tiramisu, which was unlike any other that I have ever tried - flatter and less wet than other iterations, heavy with the coffee and cocoa dust and topped with a chocolate toffee crunch. Excellent. The service was meticulous and of the highest quality. 4 solid stars. read more
