Another fantastic meal in Dingle! The food at The Global Village Restaurant is nothing short of amazing! My sister and I did not think reservations were needed to dine here on a Monday during the off-season. (We were wrong!) Luckily, we were able to make reservations for our party of three on the following evening. We scheduled our dinner reservation at 5:30 pm so that we could take advantage of the early bird menu. The early bird menu is a steal! (Two courses for €28 or three courses for €32.) The restaurant was fairly empty when we first arrived so we were able to ask our waitress about the different dishes on the menu. I wasn't familiar with many of the seafood dishes on the menu so our waitress helped me choose a mild white fish from the selection. We started off our meal bottle of Prosecco from Global Village's impressive wine menu. For my first course I selected a trio of duck appetizers. My beautifully decorated plate included duck liver parfait, smoked duck breast, and rillette of confit leg with garden greens and spiced apple chutney. The appetizer was absolutely heavenly! For my second course I selected the pollock with duck fat potatoes, spinach, chorizo, and tarragon hollandaise. The fish was very mild and paired great with the potatoes, chorizo and hollandaise sauce. I selected French cream puffs filled with hazelnut praline cream, honeycomb, and aerated white chocolate and served with caramelized white chocolate ice cream and cocoa tuille. Lovely food in a very adult restaurant. The food presentation was spot on and the food tasty, albeit slightly underseasoned. The main drawback was the service and atmosphere which was stiff and formal. No friendly, laid back Dingle town vibe here! The food reminded me of Masterchef with everything plated up and beautiful. The crab trio was tasty and the crab meat flavoursome. I also had the John Dory (with more crab!) which was also good. The portions were big so don't over order! My partner had the beetroot and goats cheese salad which was by far the prettiest plate that arrived at our table. Overall a good meal. The service and atmosphere were the main drawback. The waitstaff were polite and efficient but not friendly or warm. I guess they are aiming for a certain amount of formality but this felt overly drawn out and not in line with current restaurant trends. It just felt slightly snobby. We had a good meal but if I come back to Dingle, I would not come back unless they loosened up a bit. Relax!! read more

It was packed of people when we were there last week but thankfully we got the table at last minute. Restaurant was small but cosy inside. Food was good. We both had steak - medium well - and we were happy with what we had (tasted good and well decorated). But because of the tiny portion of food we were still hungry at the end. I would definitely come back tho to try their famous lobster. Next time we will book the table earlier in advance! read more

We only had one night in Dingle and wanted to be sure to make it count. Global Village Restaurant seemed like a great choice based on rave reviews on Yelp and the recommendation from patrons at our B&B pub. We stopped into this restaurant on a cold, damp Monday evening in March around 6:30pm. The restaurant had a few patrons, but was mostly empty. We were told quite rudely that without a reservation there was just simply no way we could possibly get a table. We abandoned the snobbish establishment in favor of Half Door further down the road. We walked past Global Village restaurant on our walk back to the B&B, lo and behold there were still tables vacant. I am glad we spent our money elsewhere. read more

My wife booked a table here sight unseen. Great food and atmosphere. Friendly and welcoming staff. I had a tremendous cut of lamb and my wife had salmon. We enjoyed wine by the glass, tasting four different wines. The food was delicious and the portions perfect. I'd return in a heartbeat and an airline ticket from San Francisco to Shannon. SF Bay Area restaurant people could learn many things from how people in Ireland treat their guests. read more

My favorite thing about the restaurant is that all of the ingredients are sourced locally and the name of the farm is listed right on the menu. VERY poor service detracted from our evening..... We visited with some local friends and were looking forward to dinner, but from the moment we walked into the restaurant the whole service experience was a let down. There was confusion as our booking had been recorded for 2, but it we had requested a table for four. The soul male waiter who proceeded to explain the situation did not handle the matter well, but we were assured that a table that could accommodate us would soon be available. When we eventually saw a table was laid up, we had been waiting outside, we walked back in to find the table lacked 2 chairs. A waitress indicated that she would bring two, but after 5 minutes two of our party were still standing, so we simply took two unoccupied chairs from an adjacent table. Could the staff not have done this? On this Saturday night they had a party of 15 ladies in celebrating an event, and as the evening progressed this booking caused the whole restaurant to become overwhelmed with noise, inefficient service and generally a poor level of customer care. We were left waiting for bread, and only got some when I got up and asked at the service counter, after our starters were served. I had to ask three times in total. One of the more mature waitresses did inform us that due to the large party our main courses would be a little delayed and she was alone in trying to handle the issue. Other staff members seemed over whelmed. We reflect that the restaurant should not have accepted our reservation after such a large party had been seated, as the kitchen was having an issue serving 14 main courses at once. This might be expected but for the first hour of our visit to the restaurant no one attempted to engage us with the problem. A complimentary glass of wine and a sorry might have changed our entire view of the situation. The food when it arrived was very good and we would happily recommend the chef. So would we return, yes...but we would question what other reservations the restaurant had accepted. read more

Absolutely the best restaurant in Dingle. I've eaten a few times here since we moved down and every time it gets better and better. Anthony who waits the tables here is a gentleman. It's royal treatment from the staff. Now, the food... €29.50 for a 3-course meal. It's not just soup/main/apple tart. Finely crafted plates, delicious, mouth-watering. Each plate is a work of art. Absolutely stellar amazing beautiful food. I mean, just get here already. Our B&B made reservations for us, which I would highly recommend. This place was perfection. From the beautiful jazz music to the gorgeous interiors to the super friendly, uber-smooth staff, this is truly one of the best dining experiences to be had in Ireland. We all went for the prix fixe menu, which did not disappoint and was honestly a bargain at the 26 euro price! For my starter, I had an amazing crab three ways: crab bisque, crab pate, and crab salad. Pure heaven in every bite, plated so beautifully I had to take a picture of it. For my entree, I got the lemon sole which also came with crab toes (OMG, yum). The lemon sole was perfectly seasoned and balanced nicely against the peas and potatoes on the side. The wine list was lengthy and included numerous options by the glass that it was actually hard to choose just one. I was so comfortable eating here that I really felt like I was in someone's home. The service was impeccable and top notch. I loved Global Village so much that I really hated that we ate elsewhere the night before. One bonus? There's an insert in the menu which tells you the farm/dairy origin of all the menu items. That's so awesome! If you're looking for a perfect night out in Ireland, especially to celebrate a special occasion, then this is it. Look no further. Come let them spoil you at The Global Village!!!!!!!!!! read more

Very disappointing meal here with my husband. The food was nothing special & certainly didn't warrant the price (esp considering the tiny portions), the service was slow, we were freezing as the restaurant is laid out in such a way that there's nowhere you can sit to avoid the draft every time the front door opens, & the bathrooms, although clean, were quite run down & really didn't fit in with the up market image the restaurant seems to be trying to portray. read more

Total disaster. They don't deserve to be mentioned in the Michelin guide. We asked if the lobsters were live. They said "yes." But we could tell they were not. They tasted like frozen lobster tails and claws. We live in Ireland, and we know that, depending on the sea condition, restaurants in Ireland don't have a constant supply of the lobsters. But they usually don't lie about it. What is really terrible is that the staff were told to lie that they were alive when asked. They charged the lobster dish at a set price, and they didn't show us the live lobsters before preparing them. It is an insult that they think tourists cannot tell the difference. We can tell the difference between freshly cooked live lobsters and frozen ones, no matter how much wine and butter they try to use to disguise them. Very disappointed. read more

Was recommended to Global by American friends and a newly made Dinsale friend. Ate there last night. Was right to trust my friends: it was perfect. Everything is lovingly made in house using when available house grown vegetables. Culinary talent in the kitchen using fine ingredients artfully prepared and assembled. Plus they've got a 5:30-6:30 true bargain: 30 euro for two courses of wonderful food. Service too was professionally friendly. Wish I lived nearby! read more

By far our favorite dinner of our 8-day trip to Ireland. I had an amazing beet, goat cheese, and walnut salad that I am still thinking about. This was the absolutely one of the best meals my husband and I have had in Ireland (and we used to live there so we've experienced some very good all the way to some downright terrible restaurants.) We arrived for the "early bird" menu without any reservations. The server initially told us that it was all booked out, but double checked again and found us a table. Sure enough, right after seating us, the place filled up-even at 5 o'clock or so. Service, which often takes a back seat in Ireland, was as good as you'd find in a restaurant here in San Francisco. I was actually shocked that I was given water upon being seated, menus, wine list, someone check on us during our meal, a bill when appropriate--etc. It was apparent that the management knows how a restaurant should run and trained their staff appropriately. I had the crab trio appetizer. The crab took center stage and arrived three gorgeously plated crab delicacies. A crab bisque, crab salad and a crab parfait/spread. OMG---wonderful. A burst of pure crab flavor in each dish was highlighted and not drowned out with heavy sauces or unnecessary fanfare. My husband had the duck---also excellent. Duck presented as it's very best. My husband ordered the lamb main. I don't really like lamb, but his meal could have converted me as a lamb lover! What was even more shocking and extraordinary was the cost. It was no more pricy than the hundreds of mediocre restaurants that serve the usual and very typical/tiresome fare that you'd find in Ireland (salmon, steak, chicken, pasta, monkfish, etc) Anyway, I've been to many excellent restaurant over the years, here in the Bay Area and abroad and Global Village will be on my top ten list! My only downside was that we were an hour away so was difficult to show up again the following night! read more

Farm to table in Ireland! Wow about everything. Locally sourced fish and fare. I ate here with my family and everything everyone had was amazing. I started with the baked oysters and whiskey crab bisque. Both amazing. For my main I had the Irish prime filet. It was amazing with a delicious madira au jus on the side and smoked mashed potatoes. Best to call ahead or stop by to make reservations we did not have reservations on a Monday night and had to come back later. It was definitely worth the wait! read more

The food was a culinary experience, presentation and flavours were show stopping. Service was prompt, friendly, accommodating to wheat-free vegetarian among us!
