The chef(s) should be very proud of this one. The wagyu burger sent me to another realm. The party must've had minced onion or seasoning mixed into the meat which gave flavor in every single bite. SERVICE Delightful and welcoming servers. They were on it with replenishing drinks and asking how everything was. AMBIANCE From the outside, the place appears very unassuming. It's nothing that will catch your eye, but if a local or guide is kind enough to tell you about this place, you're in for a treat. Inside, it's a small-to-medium pub experience but plenty of attention to the dining area. That's what you're there for. Cozy and intimate, and you're only an arm's reach away from the bar. We stopped in for dinner as they were open for walk ins. There was a good balance between relaxed coziness and quality restaurant. The service was the same, friendly and laid back, while taking care of our table. We ordered an app and a main from their specials. Both were very good, fresh seafood is a Dingle special. Ashes was a great time and had some wonderful fresh local food. We got the John Dory special and a local cheese board. Both were fantastic! The fish was so very fresh and light. It was also very nicely cooked. The local cheeses were great - we especially liked the sheep's cheese they had. We also got the brownie as a dessert which was a total miss. While the flavors were there the chocolate sauce was very grainy and the brownie was very wet. The place over all is cozy and a bit dim. It's also quite a bit louder than expected but that could just be the customers tonight. read more

While in the area touring with the family, we decided on this cute little restaurant for lunch. We had a group of 10 so it was perfect we had a small little area to the back to ourselves. Such a great spot for a nice dinner for small groups or a date night. It is a very intimate setting with the freshest seafood in Dingle. Ashes has been family run for generations. Siobhan makes guests feel welcome and great care is given for an excellent experience. The food is top notch and the setting is great. We're often in Dingle in the off-season, when Ashes is closed, so we try to hit it those times that we're there when it's open. read more

My husband and I stopped in for dinner and were surprised they had early bird specials. The mussels, French style, as a starter were the best I've ever had, seriously. And the fish and chips were excellent. Both were large portions. The bread was also very tasty. My husband had the pompadelle (sp) and he said it was delicious. The service was outstanding. I think we had three different waitresses, all coordinating with each other to bring the food to the table when it was hot and to take away dishes and to serve drinks. The ambience was lovely and intimate and charming, with pictures and stories of Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn, among others. We will definitely return. Don't hesitate to go here. Our first night in Dingle and they were able to squeeze us in on a very busy holiday Saturday. We ordered the fish of the day, which was Turbot, with a Provençal sauce. It was very good and the sauce was outstanding! Prices wasn't too outrageous either. Would definitely recommend. read more

My husband and I arrived to Dingle late and were so happy to learn that Ashes was open until 9:30. We started with the prawns; for our entrees, I ordered the Hake and my husband ordered the lobster. Both of us agree that our dishes were some of the best, if not THE best seafood we had during our two week vacation in Ireland. The sauce served with the Hake was incredible and the portions were very generous. The quality of both the fish and the lobster was fabulous. The service was superb as well. This place was awesome. We were on a tour and were pressed for time. We got there and we couldn't get a seat it was so packed. Luckily a table opened up. The bartender was amazing. We started with seafood chowder. Best chowder I have ever had and I am from New Jersey which is famous for its seafood. I had the fish and chips and my wife ordered the mussels. Everything was amazing. Sadly we had to leave half of our main courses because we had leave to meet our tour group. Don't miss this place. It's some great seafood. Ashes is another favorite among the towns people (so we've heard). So we ran in for lunch. Mind you we beat the tour bus rush so we were seated right away in the corner spot at the front of the restaurant. The staff was extremely friendly, personable, and put the special menu at the table. I ordered the burger. There really is no need for me to go into more detail on such a simple dish, but the meat was good, and self made not those frozen patty's. My companion ordered the sea food Chowder. I took a picture of it because I was amazed how much sea food was in that little bowl! Mussels, crab, oysters, white fish, and large chunks of salmon. 2 comments he made. "It's a little fishy, but that's probably from the salmon." And "it was filling but I'm still hungry." If you are a big fan of the oyster Chowder this sea food Chowder is not the same according to him. But if your a sea food Chowder fan you will be extremely happy with the Chowder. A great place to settle in for a fantastic dinner. The Seared Rump of Kerry Lamb dish is divine; served over a bed of pearl barley alongside carrot and thyme purée and a potato cake. My wife had the Filet of Herefordshire Beef which rivaled any dish in Nebraska (home of Omaha Steaks). A wide array of beverages are available including some Irish microbrews. Thomas and Sinead (the owners) are there; making sure everyone is enjoying their meals. Also, my wife and I stayed above Ashes (via an Airbnb booking) in one of their rooms. The accommodations are as solid here in a neat building in downtown Dingle. I would definitely eat here again. read more

One of the best meals I have had this year! I stumbled across Ashes during my trip to Dingle this weekend and am so happy we chose to dine here for our final night! The food is incredibly fresh and the staff are great Craic! I opted for the early bird of 2 course , a bit of a bargain for 24 quid! To start, I went for prawns pil pil. I kind of consider myself a pil pil pro so I just HAD to try them! They were fabulous! Fresh, not too garlicy, and came with some bread (perfect for some dipping action). My main was fresh hake with an almond pesto sauce, and can honestly say it was one of the best pieces of fish I've ever had! Coming from Howth, that means a lot! It came with fresh veg and salad! Delish! As for himself, he went for the lobster! They let you choose your own out of the tank which is pretty cool! But for €30 per 500g, they aren't cheap! It came with AMAZING home cut chips (like the ones your granny would make) and salad! It was his first time eating lobster and thought "it wasn't as nice a chicken"! Just finished a 10 day trip all over Ireland. Best meal of the trip was here. We ate seafood chowder almost everyday in many different places. This was the best we had. So fresh. Pecan crusted hake was ridiculously good. Followed up dinner with coffee crem brûlée that was served with a scoop of oreo ice cream. Entire meal was on point! We found it odd though that the lady who seems to be running the place, kind of made us feel a little odd for coming back to the place for dinner on the day we had lunch there.. I get it with all the places in Dingle, but my wife wanted to try it for dinner. Anyway, just seemed odd. This was also one of the few places I could not find anything vegetarian and or even close to vegan options. Thank goodness for elevator recommendations! When we told a woman in Dublin, from Dingle, we were headed there, she said the only restaurant we should eat at is Ashes. Boy was she right! Upon walking in, the waitresses greeted us warmly and tended nicely to us. This may sound weird, but I think I had the best Garden Salad of my life! Thin, julienned cucumber, mixed greens (yay, no iceberg!), carrot swirls, and roasted red pepper, all topped with balsamic dressing AND basil pesto. It was divine! I also tried their thick cut chips. For a guy who's never met a French Fry he did not like, I may have tasted the best one of my life here! Super thick steak fries cooked perfectly...no undercooked potato or grease in sight. My partner also loved his meal of steamed mussels with red thai curry broth and the burger, made with County Kerry beef. Everything was so fresh. It was a delight to watch local fisherman coming in to deliver their catches for the dinner menu. Stumbled upon Ashe's Bar whilst in Dingle for a weekend with friends. It has a real authentic feel opposed to the many tourist traps than line the streets. We were looking for an easy going relaxed atmosphere with good food with a quick turnaround and that is exactly what we got! Really nice setting to eat. The early bird menu was fantastic value as was the wine list. The fish and chips really was incredibly and seemed like a fan favorite judging from the fellow diners. I have on good authority that the seafood chowder was excellent from my pals & the Prawns with Chili & Garlic to start were really good. The offer of extra free bread is always a big plus in my book too. The best part of this dining experience was the staff. The gent at front of house whom I believe was the manager was really nice and helpful. He recommended bars and stuff happening in the town for the weekend. The servers were great too. Many of my reviews will ultimately come down to the quality, quantity and customer service - and Ashe's delivered on all 3 counts here. I will most certainly be back. read more
