Dick Macks. It's a cool spot with a shoe repair/leather worker on one side of the bar, and a really impressive and unique bar on the other side. It was very small inside at the bar with only room for only 12 people or so, but the outside patio had lots of space and there even an indoor covered area with seating near the restrooms that was like payphone booths but without the pay phones. There were tourists in this areas but also some local folks and we found a bench to share with another couple. 10/10 We visited August 2023

I had read that this bar was one of the top 20 in the world, I'm not sure if I would go that far, they have an extensive Irish whiskey selection, but only 1800 tequila and no bourbon, nevertheless we had a great time. We ordered 2 Coors, a wine and a shot of Jameson. We sat out back on the patio for a while and then moved inside. The inside is pretty cool, it's like a big house with different rooms to hang out in. At one point some guys started singing and playing guitar in one of the rooms, so we moved inside so we could listen from 2 rooms over. They were not playing traditional Irish music, it was more rock and roll, U2, Beatles and so on. They were pretty good, they could harmonize. Before we left, when they were taking a break, I met them and told them they were the first musicians that I heard in an Irish pub. They were busting my chops because I was drinking Coors, while they were all drinking Guinness. They asked me if I had a song request, I'm a big U2 fan, so I requested "Stay, Faraway So Close", a somewhat obscure U2 song. Within a few minutes they performed it. It was completely amazing.

Dick Mack's is pure Irish pub magic. A cozy mix of old-world charm and lively atmosphere, with friendly bartenders who make you feel like a regular. The Guinness is perfect, the whiskey selection is impressive, and the beer garden out back is a hidden gem. A must-stop if you're in Dingle. Maybe even get belt made while getting "waisted".

Great brewpub in Dingle with a cosy atmosphere. There are snugs as an outdoor beer garden which is lovely on a sunny day. We enjoyed the Dingle Pale Ale and the Dingle Amber Ale. Half of the bar includes a custom leather workshop! A real treasure of a bar.

Loved the outside courtyard venue with the two musicians who were so engaging with the children. The musicians had the children (and parents) up dancing. They had football on inside but we were so happy to be outside enjoying the nice weather and catching up with new friends. Bartenders were friendly too.

Around the back for outdoor seating.

Dick Macks is also a small bar in Dingle, Kerry County. Our tour guide said we needed to visit since they have the best whiskey selection in Dingle. He wasn't wrong. One of my pictures is of their bar. There much be hundreds of bottles showing. I tried a few novel ones, including a local Dingle Whiskey (which I didn't find as good as others). The ambiance is great, albeit a little touristy. It is more of an upscale bar with higher drink prices. The building is old and well decorated. Overall, this was a nice experience.

Just great. Hanging out here gives you a feel of real Ireland. We stopped in here at different times all three days we spent in Dingle. Finn was very friendly and carries on the family tradition. Watch out for the dark stout they make in-house it'll sneak up on you!

Not sure that I've seen a more packed shelves of alcohol behind a bar than here. We walked in and were speechless at how many whiskeys were available to order. Aside from the alcohol, there is a whole side of the bar where a gentleman makes leather goods (belts, wallets, etc). It was so interesting to watch as he stained the leather belt he was working on. They have tours of Dick Macks beer in the back of the bar. The tour was very educational and makes it so homey to know that they are local and want to stay that way. Our bartender was hilarious and had tons of one-liners and jokes to keep the crowd entertained.

Enjoying a pint at one of Dick Mack's snugs. There are two snugs located in the front bar of the pub. (September 2014)

Dick Mack's is one of Dingle's oldest and most well-known pubs. The pub dates back to 1899 and has been owned and operated by three generations of the MacDonnell family. When Tom MacDonnell passed away in 1938 his son, Richard MacDonnell, inherited the pub and the pub became known as "Dick Mack's". Richard MacDonnell was a leather craftsman and cobbler before he owned the pub. The remnants of the MacDonnell shoe business are scattered around the pub. During our visit I noticed the shelves were crammed with old shoe boxes, shoes and boots, and scraps of leather. Several Irish beers, including Guinness were available on tap. My sister and I ordered pints of cider and my husband ordered a lager. The bar carries a very impressive selection of Whiskey, but I'm not much of a whiskey drinker. We enjoyed our pints in one of the old-fashioned snugs at Dick Mack's. Since there weren't any musicians scheduled to play during the night of our visit we just enjoyed one pint and moved on to the next pub, but we really enjoyed checking out all of the historical memorabilia and photos that were decorated around the pub. **Check out the star slabs outside the front of Dick Mack's. The stars are engraved with the names of famous people who have visited Dick Mack's such as Sean Connery, Robert Mitchum, and Julia Roberts.

Hard to make decision on favorite pub in Dingle, but after several visits I must decide on Dick Mack's. Courtyard out back is good for larger groups. Inside is tight but perfect in its own right. If you can grab a seat at the bar, go for it. Talk to your neighbors. Introduce yourself and ask about their day. Be sure and try all 3 ales produced by the onsite brewery. The stout is my favorite and delicious but slightly different from a Guinness. Both other ales are very nice. Be sure and meet Aussie and the rest of the brewery crew- great guys. I will personally be miffed if you don't agree with me on this one!

One of the best days in Ireland. The last day of our holiday in Dingle was cold and rainy so what better way to spend it than at Dick Macs Pub drinking Guinness and Whiskey? We sampled wonderful and rare whiskeys after a few Guinness. It has a very localized feel inside but everyone was so kind and welcoming. I think we spent around 6-7 hours there (got a little hazier the longer we were there!). It was fantastic and we will DEFINITELY go back in the future.

Dick Mack's is a wonderful trip back in time, and a must see if you are visiting Dingle. I have fond memories of visiting this pub while I was a child, and twenty years later I don't think it has changed a bit. As this is a traditional Irish pub, don't expect any fancy beers on tap, or food for that matter. What you will get is a great atmosphere, a decent pint of Guinness and lots of artwork and memorabilia on the walls to admire. Plus points for the "snugs" and live music. While other bars in Dingle might be tourist traps, this one is not. You will find a mix of people from all over the world, but also a lot of locals too. This a true Irish treasure.

Lovely bar with a variety of whiskeys to choose from. Nice staff with an open seating arrangement, so warm up to a neighbor! A perfect little quaint place to grab a pre or post meal beverage! I highly recommend you coming here for a couple of sippers.

IPA, coffee stout, amber ale - amber ale my personal favorite!

I have to give a special shoutout to the vegan burger--it was absolutely outstanding. Perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and thoughtfully put together with great toppings and a delicious bun. It's not always easy to find a truly satisfying vegan option in a pub, but this one exceeded expectations. The veg soup was also really good--comforting, hearty, and clearly homemade. And the salad greens were incredibly fresh and crisp, which added a nice, light balance to the meal. Great food, friendly service, and a lovely setting. I'd definitely come back next time I'm in Dingle!

We were seated at a nice booth, and next to an interesting group of folks speaking French. Our waitress was fun and engaging, even when she told us that they were out of Smithwicks. I gladly chose a glass of Rockshore Lager instead. My Lunch choice was an Open Ploughman, as it looked interesting and wanted to avoid yet another Irish meal featuring potatoes. That was pretty tasty, as was Gayle's Prawn and Salmon dish. Nice place!
