A nice surprise find in East Hastings area. Lots of green plants, mini art pieces, and a section dedicated to a cute artisanal shop. Really great ambiance to chill and catch up with friends. We had just eaten so just got some tea and chai latte. I wish the chai latte was stronger but this was definitely more a Western style take on the drink. Apparently they can also accommodate special events so check them put if you are planning something!

'Chiken' Salad Sandwich, Oatmeal Chocolate Cookie, Bellini Kombucha

A hidden oasis on E Hastings. Plants abound in the industrial but cozy interior. A corner is dedicated to a small craft and plant market. The tables have a 1 hour time limit when it's busy. The food menu focuses on local and organic ingredients. The menu is almost entirely vegetarian save for a ham and cheese sandwich, and within those vegetarian options, many are vegan or can be made vegan. I ordered the 'chiken' salad sandwich ('chiken' made from soy curls), an oatmeal chocolate cookie, and a Hoochy Booch bellini kombucha on tap. The sandwich was great! The finely chopped soy curls in the salad had a great texture, and I loved the flavour pop from the cranberries. The sourdough bread was also excellent. The cookie was good - it was made with shredded coconut in addition to oats which made it crunchy and which I wasn't expecting, so it wasn't exactly what I hoped for, but if you like that texture, this would be great.

The decor was beautiful and so comfy and calming. The service was outstanding. The barista was amazing at helping us out. The digest tea was incredible and presented beautifully. The quiche is only available on the weekends, but was to die for.

What a delightful coffee shop! Decided to stop by for a treat, and was enamoured by the greenery, the plant wall, the cute products and the overall vibes of the space. One hour time limit for their tables if you dine in. I got the latte - super delicious and smooth. I also got the oatmeal chocolate chip cookie ($3) as recommended by the staff member. Perfectly sweet and balanced with the latte.

had a delightful brunch with my girlfriend on saturday at 12:30 pm at garden strathcona, which was bustling with activity. after placing our orders, we checked out their merch and soaked in the peaceful garden vibes. the latte with oat milk was silky smooth, and my choice, the mushroom bowl with a ramen egg, was healthy, filling and delicious. packed with mushrooms, peas, wild rice, brown rice, kale, pickled beets, carrots, mushrooms, pumpkin seeds, and green onions, it offered a delightful mix of textures. even the bathroom's wallpaper added to the charm of this unexpected gem in town.

Just a gorgeous little cafe/shop. It's worth noting it's open during this difficult time, and they are following distancing rules. So gold star for that. They also have a great takeout menu for food! On my last visit I snagged a few of their outrageously addictive chewy vegan chocolate chip cookies and grabbed a tea and coffee to go aswell. They have a lovely selection of plants and when things are normal again I can't wait to go back with my friends. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CAFE/plant shop ;)

The Garden Strathcona is in it's name, a Garden! The interior of this place is absolutely stunning. There are plants everywhere, a little mini shop, and a beautiful studio space to rent. A friend and I took a visit here on a super rainy day. I got the Mocha, and she got an oat milk latte (a plus is that the milk substitutes come at no extra charge!) the coffee we both had was delish! The reason I'm not giving 5 stars, the food and treat selection is minimal. It is high quality (I had a salted chocolate chip cookie, which was super yummy). I wish there were a few more options. All in all - highly recommend coming here at last on once! It's such a stunning and west coast environment, you'll want to check out this Plant Heaven!

Great Coffee and inside is so cute! Full of plants very peaceful and enjoyable place for a coffee break. I had the mushroom bowl and a latte and it was great

Always a treat! The coffee, especially the blue latte - the pastries and food are heavenly. There is a fantastic local feel and you can tell that whomever runs it is on top of things and has good taste. I like that they also sell plants and the upstairs is for tent for events.

Simply amazed there is such an indoor retreat like this tucked in Strathcona! Not only is the natural decor captivating but the food at The Garden Strathcona is just as lush! I ordered the Soba Noodle Bowl + Ham & Cheese Scone + Mocha + Macchiato. The Soba Noodle Bowl was such a balanced dish with so many flavours, vegetables and that perfectly marinated ramen egg will definitely hit my replay list over and over again! The drinks were great too with bold coffee beans flavours. Not only do they have drinks, food, and baked items but they also have a section inside and online to shop for a variety of local products too! Simply love this place for every aspect they have perfected!

    Vegan tofu scramble

Awesome place with one of the best vegan tofu scrambles in town. We stopped in for a late breakfast during the week and were impressed at the setup of the place, especially since it's in a not-so-great part of town. Semi-upscale feel to the interior, with limited seating, you order up at the counter and they bring your food out. They have lots of vegan options, including a build-your-own porridge, a tofu scramble, and lots of delicious-looking baked goodies. We each ordered the scramble ($14 plus tax), and a large drip (dark roast) coffee ($2.75 plus tax; comes with one free refill, which is nice). The coffee was really nice, one of the better breakfast coffee options I've had locally. The tofu scrambles came out in under 10 minutes and were sublime. The cashew creme and roasted poblano & avocado crema create a lovely, soft texture to this scramble. The black beans, tomato, and greens (green onion, parsley and kale, I think?) were added in excellent proportion. The bread they serve is fresh and hearty, drizzled with a little olive oil. Overall, a fantastic breakfast spot with tons of vegan options. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

Chewy chocolate chip cookie & gluten-free banana loaf

Plants here, plants there, plants everywhere! The Garden Strathcona is a stunning café. This would make a great spot to read a book or catch up with some friends. My partner and I shared a flat white with oat milk, the chewy chocolate chip cookie, and the gluten-free chocolate chip banana loaf. Cafés that offer oat milk as their default "milk" or at no extra charge already receive extra marks from me! The coffee was very rich and smooth. The loaf and cookie were huge! 5/5 for the coffee and 4/5 for the pastries. From candles to books, they sell goods from other local businesses--they're a one-stop-shop. I love everything about this place--it's thoughtfully designed. To say we're mildly obsessed is an understatement.

This place is about as close as one can come to perfection. Coffee- incredible. Staff- knowledgeable and friendly. Atmosphere- picturesque. Food- delicious. This is simply a lovely environment wherein coffee and service are clearly passions and community reigns supreme. Bravo. I will be here as often as is possible.

Holy smokes, the Acai bowls here are massive. We were soooo full. If we ever come here again, we will just share one bowl with each other. Not sure that we will come here again though. The Acai bowls weren't bad but I've had better. I feel it could have been a bit sweeter. I was not impressed with my mom's Avocado Toast. I could see my mother struggling to cut her Avocado Toast so it seems the crust was quite hard. She ended up leaving a lot of the crust on her plate and just ate the middle of the bread. On the website I had seen Avocado Toast, sandwiches, wraps and Salmon Lox Bagel. I was quite dismayed to walk into this place and not see any of that stuff written on the menu. There was a small sign by the cashier that said to ask about Avocado Toast. I guess by the same token, I would have had to ask about Salmon Lox Bagel. Why make us ask about it? Why not just include it on the huge menu that was up on the wall? Might have made life easier when it came to ordering something for my mom who isn't into Acai bowls like us. This place seems to be somehow shared with Bean Around the World coffee shop which is right next door. There's no wall separating the two shops. You can walk from Anchor Eatery straight into the coffee shop next door. We ended up taking our food and drinks from Anchor Eatery and sitting next door at Bean Around the World coffee shop. Assumed it was allowed since there was no separation between the two shops and nobody tried to kick us out of the coffee shop.

It didn't take long for the bowl to melt though, so if you plan on ordering this item, eat it quickly! The matcha smoothie was just so-so. While it was green and featured many ingredients, the banana overpowered every flavor and was the only note I could taste. It would be more honest to call it a banana smoothie than a Matcha..
