I was very hesitant about writing this review, but here I go....
I begged my family to go to this spot for my birthday, as I am new to the area and have heard great things about The Flying Egg. It took me about two weeks just to make a reservation, which was great indication that this place really had a reputation.
Upon arrival, it was busy, very busy. I told the hostess my name and she sat us outside. 15 minutes later, no one came. A party of two sat down after us and had drinks/flatware before we did, it was like we weren't even noticed. Waiters and waitresses flew by my family and I, but not one even said hello or asked if we had been helped. I waited until about 30 minutes to finally approach someone because I was respectful to the fact that they were busy.
The hostess was very kind and empathetic, in fact she came out to take my family's drink order. 20 minutes later....no drinks. No water, no coffee, no bloody mary's, no screwdriver. A waiter finally came to the table and proceeded to try and take our drink order again but we informed him that someone had already done so. As we waited, a different waiter came out to the table to try and apologize for it being 45 minutes without a drink/flatware on the table AND THEN proceeded to tell me that I should have seen a hostess before taking a seat outside. I kindly informed him that I had reservations made over a week in advance and that in fact, a hostess walked us out to our table. In return, he said, "well sorry, there is nothing I can do for you from here. We just received a party of 15 and I have been giving them all of my attention." At this point, none of us are happy and that was not the response you should probably tell a family that has gone unnoticed for almost an hour.
Now, an hour into brunch, someone brings out two bloody mary's. As she places them on the table we specified if one of them was non-alcoholic, she said "no" and left the two at the table and went to retrieve a virgin bloody mary for my mother. At this point, we are here for ONE HOUR and FIFTEEN MINUTES, we FINALLY received drinks and a brunch order was taken. Our food came out, it was delicious, we all were pleased with what we got. But as soon as food was dropped off, they ran away...no one asked if we needed condiments like sugar, creamer, syrup, butter, and ketchup were not supplied.
The hostess/manager at the front comped our drinks, which I was thankful for, she was very kind. But in the end, I do not think two free alcoholic drinks makes up for the worst service I have ever had. It brings me such disappointment to write this review (and it's my first ever yelp review). I know this facility is busy, but my family and I did not have a pleasant experience at this establishment. I feel as though with multiple employee interactions we had, no one seemed to even care. So unfortunately I will never come back, this ruined all of the lovely things I have heard about The Flying Egg. read more
