They serve breakfast all day and lunch. If you like the local diner style this is definitely the kinda place you need to try. The Flipping Egg, has a menu with enough variety your sure to find something you would like to try. I had the Texas Benedict, this is poached eggs tomato slices, on English muffin topped with hollandaise sauce, this also comes with Texas hash, which is hash browns and jalapeño slices. In addition I had a side of breakfast patties the flavor was nice with just the right amount of sage and smoke flavor. If your In Abilene or just passing through, this is a great option for a good meal with great service. Rumor has it they have great gluten-free pancakes. The Flipping Egg is flipping GOOD! Despite being super busy, it was only about a 10 minute wait for 4 of us! Our server was friendly, funny, and very helpful. I had an omelet, with Texas Hash (hashbrowns with jalapeño and cheese- mildly spicy!) My family members tried eggs benedict and the skillet, and all were delicious. I've eaten here several times since my initial review and it has been okay. Nothing spectacular, but certainly decent and always good service. Our men's group met here this morning at my suggestion. Service was good, no problems there. The food was prepared properly. The eggs though were poor. I was raised around a farm, so I know the difference in a true fresh egg and what you normally get in the store; but these were sadly neither of those. When eggs that are cooked properly, as mine were, are watery and barely yellow it means they have been refrigerated way too long. I got the california Benedict (added Canadian bacon) (their Canadian bacon is very very good) and it was good, however the egg on mine and my breakfast partners sausage Benedict was not poached correctly. Had been wanting to come to this place after seeing a pic of the cinnamon roll pancake. Then, I heard from several people that it was a really good breakfast spot. So, today I caved and finally went, and I'm so glad I did. I got the cinnamon roll pancake, which came with bacon and eggs. It was SO good. After being referred to trying The Flipping Egg by a family member I must say there were positives and negatives for our experience. The place is evidently a local favorite as there were plenty of patrons arriving shortly after they opened. While there initially seemed to be a waiting staff shortage there soon were about 4-5 waiters and waitresses to assist all the customers. Our ordering time and the time it took to receive our food was adequate. My husband ordered the Texas Hash Plate with an egg over easy and white bread toast; he says his plate came out great! I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak Breakfast with scrambled eggs and wheat toast bread. The CFS was great! I thought the breading might've tasted off but I realized the seasonings used were just different and I honestly thoroughly enjoyed all the flavors and the country gravy was perfect! The eggs on the other hand were bland and the toast tasted slightly off to me texture wise. I wasn't crazy about the esthetic of the restaurant as it comes off as being a repurposed restaurant and it just didn't feel local or unique as I anticipated it to be. I just want to say that I am a huge chicken fried steak person, there is a place where I am from called Pioneer of Texas which was famous for its chicken fried steak and for 30 years I ate there at least once a week. I have to say HANDS DOWN FLIPPING EGG HAS THEM BEAT TIMES 1000!!! I ordered the small (Which is BIG) it was so good I immediately made my Boss try a piece just to confirm I wasn't just dreaming. Tender is an understatement then I added scrambled eggs and with biscuits and gravy!!!!!! I literally eat out all the time due to my job and if you haven't been here DO IT! Also make sure to order the chicken fried steak you will not be sorry! This and Skeets grill are my favorite places in Abilene to eat! The owner at flipping egg was so nice when I asked how she cooked her CFS (You wouldn't believe her secret) jaw dropping! The waitress and staff all look so modern and new age which I LOVE!!!! Just came into town for the weekend and tried to find a good Brunch spot. I got the chorizo Benedict and my wife got the cinnamon roll pancakes. We also got a chicken biscuit to start. The chicken biscuit put Chick-fil-A to shame. The chicken was crispy and juicy with the perfect amount of cinnamon and honey on top. The cinnamon roll pancake melted in your mouth and was probably the highlight of the meal. The chorizo Benedict was pretty good. I reccomend getting the texas hash with some of the regular salsa and mixing it all together. Shout out to Ian for being an awesome server. We will definitely come back again. read more

The Abilene location is one of our favorites though it could be better if they would train their staff to be more attentive. My Wife requested refills of decaffeinated coffee twice and waited 15 minutes for the waiter to return. The restaurant was not that busy. I don't know how The Flipping Egg has the reviews it does. I've heard it's great from some friends... I don't know what they were thinking. The eggs are either liquid carton eggs or powdered eggs. Cup 1 of coffee was so watered down it tasted like coffee flavored water. We ask the waitress for another cup, it was better, but still significantly watered down. I was torn on this place. While some of my experience or lack of was my fault I definitely wasn't overly impressed. We were in town visiting family and decided to get some breakfast to go on one of the days. The restaurant had been recommended for their cinnamon roll pancakes but we chose to go a different route. I ordered the croissant breakfast sandwich and belgian waffle with strawberries. For some reason on the menu I misread and/or assumed the sandwich came with sausage. Since I wasn't asked, I didn't clarify. Unfortunately it's a choice between bacon or sausage and I got neither. The bread itself was almost 'biscuity' as opposed to light and airy and only had american cheese and an egg, not the worst but not what I was hoping for. The waffle on the other hand was tasty and while some of the strawberries had turned and had black markings on them they were easy to pick out and still enjoy the waffle. When I went inside to pick up my order I didn't see a single person wearing a mask but I was wished a 'blessed day' so they are polite and inconsiderate at the same time lol. We went here to spend our money locally but our hotel was closer to the Cracker Barrel so the rest of the mornings we ate there as the food was relatively the same and every employee was masked and cleaning constantly. read more
