The service was super friendly and nice. Our server, Laura was so sweet, friendly, and efficient. I ordered a bit off the menu (I'm high maintenance) and everything came out perfectly and was delicious. The coffee was great, the prices reasonable, and everything was quick. As we sipped our beverages and looked at the menu we began to see a repetition of "salsa .50 cents extra, sugar-free syrup - .50 cents extra, whipping cream - $1.50 extra, gluten-free (pancakes) - $4.00 extra, toast - $1.50 extra......". The little things were extra, extra, extra. We wondered if butter would be extra. When my friend received her scrambled eggs, they were a thin, see-through, filmy blob that apparently had been left on the heat too long. There was nothing scrambled about them! Our other friend ordered hot chocolate with whipping cream (not realizing at the moment of the additional charge) and it was a small scoop; not $1.50 worth. Extremely disappointed. I have come here with my husband on many occasions, planned my wedding here! I always get California Eggs Benedict. Today it was served with curdled hollandaise sauce!!!! Flipping disgusting!!! I asked the waitress to add Canadian Bacon, she says they can't do that!! Seriously why not??? My daughter was served egg substitute in stead of real eggs. Was stopping in town from Lubbock to meet my boyfriend halfway and found this brunch spot. Overall it was really good. Their pancakes get a little pricey, but it's worth it! The hostess was rude to me and my partner, and she told us two completely different wait times. Total wait time was 33 minutes (estimated 10-20). Not to mention she sat two party's that showed up after us prior to us "because they were bigger than us". Rude and inefficient. The primary reason I will not return. After we were seated we weren't greeted for 5 minutes. And the food wasn't enough to compensate for the crap beginning. Worst service I have had in Abilene! We were there for close to two hours on a Friday at 10:00am. Finally had to ask what the status of our order was and the waitress FORGOT to put our ticket in. If I could give -10 I would!! Went today with family here in town for my husband's funeral services. We were told the wait was 30min. After waiting 45min we discovered we were taken off the list. They tried to tell us they called for us but we had family inside and outside and no one called. They said it would be another 45 min wait!!! The lady was so rude! I told her we had been waiting and that family was here for my husband's funeral. This breakfast spot was such a wonderful surprise during our cross country trip. We've had a lot of breakfasts between Los Angeles to Abilene, TX and this was our favorite! The portions are perfect Goldilocks sizes - not too big and not too small. Everything tastes so fresh and homemade and everything is cooked to perfection. The pictures don't do the food justice. Also our server, Erin, like the food was perfect; so kind, polite and helpful but not overly sugary to where you feel she's being fake. My wife already reviewed this place but I want to add my two cents. Avoid the Flippin Egg at all costs. We watched as tables who were seated around the same time as us received their food, ate, paid and left. Meanwhile, our food was nowhere to be found after approximately 45 minutes. I politely informed our waiter that we would take our check because the food had taken too long. I guess that was enough of a catalyst that a few minutes later he rushed out with our food. Whether by thoughtlessness or laziness I strongly suspect our food wasn't even started until I asked for the check, after which they hastily cooked it in an effort to appease us. However, by this point it was too little too late and I stated as such to our waiter (in kinder terms). Apparently in an effort to provide the most negative customer service experience possible, they chose to charge us for the food. You know... just in case we ever had the urge to give the place a second chance. It was such an offensive gesture that I am sure I have never experienced anything like it from a restaurant. A more accurate name for it would be "Flippin Eggs & F**kin Customers." I would rather attack my own face with a claw hammer than give them my business again. Go to Cracker Barrel; it's fast and the food is consistently good. Avoid the Flippin Egg. It is one of the worst businesses I have ever encountered. I can only assume its loyal customers are either deeply benighted or suffering from stockholm syndrome. However, just because other people patronize this dump doesn't mean they're right and it doesn't mean that you should. I have been gluten intolerant for a while and gluten free pancakes are usually thick and dense, but the pancakes here were fluffy and just fantastic. The pancakes were undercooked, they were like paste in the center. Overall, the food was awful! Also, We were sitting by the kitchen door where the waiters and waitresses gathered and was subjected to listening to conversations about "Dollar Shave Club", New Movies and how one of them would "Like To Do the actor Will Smith" I would recommend driving to Whataburger , about a half mile farther down the service road, and spending 30-40% less on good food. read more

Do you want to know why everything is So Good? Everything on the menu is made from Scratch! Not one or two things, EVERYTHING is made from Scratch. While on a brief overnight visit to Abilene we searched for a safe place to eat breakfast that could accommodate our food allergy needs - a difficult job in an unfamiliar city - but we found this gem! Our food was great. We had Texas Hash, omelets, pancakes and bacon. Our waiter checked with the cooks twice to ensure that we received gluten free food. What a surprise to find out that they have an entirely separate area to prep and cook all the GF food free from contamination!! The GF pancakes were divine and not something we ever thought we'd be able to eat in a restaurant. Other reviews that say this is not restaurant quality food...you are right. It isn't frozen, pre-made, full of preservatives and just reheated to serve. It's made from scratch and tastes like my own personal chef prepared my meal!!! We went to The Flipping Egg for the first time the other day with my husband and my in-laws. They eat there frequently and raved about it, so we went with to try it out for ourselves. Our server wasn't very friendly, and acted like she was almost annoyed that she had to be there. She wasn't genuine when she spoke to us. Which was pretty disheartening. We ordered our drinks and our food. The food literally took like 45min to come out. Not sure why because there weren't that many people in there. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, my husband ordered a cheeseburger. They came out with our burgers and they had no cheese, and no bacon. I politely asked for it, and they brought us out cold cheese slices. A few minutes later the bacon followed. When we were finished eating, the server just stood there with her hand held out in front of my husband's face without saying anything as he and my father in law were in mid-conversation. He finally asked her and she said to hand her the plates on the table. The service sucked. But the environment was pretty cool and the food was actually pretty good. So it's a shame that the service didn't match the food. Because if it did, we'd probably go back. But I highly doubt we will. read more

Visiting Abilene this weekend. This place wasn't far from the hotel. It was busy, NONE of the workers wearing masks, all condiments at the table. Large selection of pancakes, and other breakfast offerings. Hubby ordered the "triple " which is 3 eggs, 3 pieces of meat and 3 pancakes. I had French toast and bacon. We both had coffee, which was good, and an orange juice. Took about 20 mins to get food. Came out without butter for either dish. Server stated he would be right back with butter and coffee. 10 mins (literally) later we finally we able to get the attention of another server and she brought the butter and said our server would bring coffee. Didn't happen, had to ask again. When he finally brought the pot over he was like "I'm just gonna give you half a cup" we were both like- no full cup please. That ticked him off and he let us know about it. Im.not sure if they were rationing coffee or just wanted us out of there. I didn't get her name but she was efficient and very friendly. Several posts mentioned the lack of covid rules but if you're really afraid of it maybe you should stay home.
