Stayed with a friend in the apartment upstairs. It was clean and comfortable, with everything we needed. The softest sheets ever! There was fresh grounded coffee left for us. I go to the Flatiron every time I make the trek to Jerome from Phoenix. It is a tiny little spot that is beautiful and quaint. The staff has always been friendly and helpful in helping me decide on a menu choice. I've had the "Sunday Waffle of the Day" several times and so far my favorite was the carrot w/currants and cream cheese icing. The salmon quesadilla has to be my favorite lunch time item. The salted caramel latte is always my drink of choice. I keep saying I'll try something different but I always end up ordering it again. This place is not your run of the mill eatery. Its made fresh from items purchased locally within hours of it being served. Its healthy and organic, with a large selection of gluten free items. These are the reasons I keep going back again and again. It does lead to higher prices and longer wait times but it is so worth it! read more

Lettuce start be saying we always appreciate the quick and friendly service. There is not mushroom to sit but you can always take it to go. We got a chai latte with almond milk, a chocolate tort and the chicken soup - all of which were eggsellent. They have both vegan and gluten free options. Overall, this place squashes the competition. When visiting Jerome, you must give it a try or you'll be chicken your own butt. There's muffin else like it in The Verde Valley. We loved it a-latte. read more

We were walking around Jerome on a warm day and decided to come in and order an iced coffee. When we opened the door, the barista never greeted us (only customers there and now I see why), his back was to us and remains that way even as we walked up to counter. He asked what he could get for us and only then turned around. My son ordered an iced mocha and quickly asked if he could have a white chocolate iced mocha. He was told they do not have white chocolate so my son said okay he would have a regular iced mocha. The barrister started to work while snobbishly saying that culinarily speaking there is no such thing a white chocolate and that it doesn't exist. Taken aback by the snobbish remark, my son looked at me, shrugged his shoulders and decided he didn't want his coffee and we walked out. As we opened the door, the barrier stated he hoped he didn't strike a bad chord. Well, he did! He also lost a customer as we usually stop in there when we visit Jerome but I don't think I will be back until I hear they changed management. read more

Went to Prescott farmers market and then to Jerome for breakfast at the Flatiron. Yes, it is small, but they have a terrace to eat across the small street if you cannot find seating. Food was awesome, I had the breakfast salad and it maybe one of the best cooked scrambled eggs I have ever had. Incredibly fluffy! Server very friendly! FYI, no bathroom on the premises but after 9:30 am you can use the bathroom at the art gallery across the street or stop at the firehouse anytime. I will visit again very soon! read more

Stopped in to this gem after a wine tasting at Vino Zona and we were very pleased. I had the bird slaw sandwich which was incredible! My boyfriend had the chickpea salad sandwich. Our experience overall was awesome! The owners are wonderful people who really make you feel at home while serving up some killer sandwich's! read more

Hell yes this place is awesome! I have been here 3 times now and about to make it a 4th this weekend coming up! This husband and wife team serve up the best cup of coffee and easy alight breakfast (depending on what you order obviously) that I keep coming back for! Get there early when you go cause there isn't a ton of seating, but worth waiting for. read more

My four friends and I stopped here this past Friday for a late breakfast. I was waiting for another, so waited to order. Two of my friends ordered from the guy (the cook), and sat back down at our table. After a few minutes of discussion, my other friend and I decided to go ahead and order. We went to the counter to order and the woman with short hair was there. After my friend and I placed our orders, I asked her if we are supposed to pay now or after we eat. She didn't answer but just started to add up our bill. I asked her if our other friends had already paid, and she snapped at me that she had been making coffee and didn't know. She said the bill was $28. I walked the six or so feet back to our table to ask the other guys if they'd paid already. Next thing I knew, the woman had her hands on the counter-top in a very aggressive stance and YELLED at me across the cafe "DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM HERE?" My friend commented that he thought the next thing she was going to do was invite me to 'step outside'. It was so weird and startling. I was so upset I left the cafe for a few minutes to cool off. Eventually our food was served. Well, most of it. She never did get me my latte! We each got breakfast burritos. They were okay. Nothing really special. After we ate and paid... as we were walking out the door she apologized for not bringing me my latte. I replied, "and your attitude?" She came out from around the counter and started to argue with me. I told her I didn't want to hear it and kept walking. Needless to say, I will never go back there. The food wasn't good enough to bother with the place. Plenty of other places to eat in Jerome that won't treat customers like crap. EDIT: Your comment is comical and extreme. There were five people in our party. All of the guys are over 50 years old. We were quiet and took our table. It was around 11:30am. Two of our party went up to order from the man behind the counter. They all ordered the same thing. You even joked around with one of our guys when he ordered dessert! Later, I was told by both my friends and your partner (the woman I met outside) that the man behind the counter told my friends they could pay after eating. The woman I met outside (co-owner) told me that you all had been confused because it had been so busy and you weren't sure what the guy had told us. I did not "yell at you on the street". You and I were never on the street. You followed me to the door as my friends and I were leaving and I refused to talk with you and I walked out and left. Apparently, I am not the only customer you have been rude to. I have been contacted by two other people who were treated poorly by you. Good luck. read more

My wife and I visited Jerome and the surrounding area for our anniversary in April. In searching for a unique place to stay, we stumbled upon the "flat" above the Flatiron Cafe. What a total surprise. The one-room apartment was perfectly clean, comfortable, quiet and decorated simply and eclectically. The king size bed was the best part - clean white sheets full of fluff and probably 4-6 pillows. Plus, fresh ground coffee and cold cream welcomed us in the kitchenette. The owners of the cafe/flat, Tom and Kat, were an absolute joy to meet and were so hospitable. They made us feel so welcome and spent time getting to know us and telling us about their town. We used our daily food credit eagerly and enjoyed a wonderful salad, sandwich, bread pudding, and a yogurt parfait. It was all freshly made to order and tasted great. I also had a specialty "pour over" coffee made by Matt their barista and it was honestly one of the best coffees I have in a long time. The cafe is situated right in the middle of town so we walked to everything. It was a perfect place to stay - I would highly recommend it for a couples getaway or even a family with one small child. Driving up the steep road from Cottonwood to Jerome one of the first buildings encountered at the bottom of town (Yes. Top and Bottom best describe this vertical village) is the Flatiron Building housing the aptly named Flatiron Cafe. Reminiscent of the original Flatiron Building in Manhattan, it sits on a peninsula of one way streets going up and down town. Within is housed one of the more magical cafes in the Western Hemisphere. Who'd a thunk? Particularly on a frigid morning, it is great to step inside, grab a table by the windows, and order breakfast and coffee from the menu on the wall. As the other reviews have said so well, the cuisine is surprisingly good, all fresh ingredients and freshly baked breads, muffins, scones, and cakes. The Breakfast Burrito is a personal favorite, but you really can't go wrong with anything there. No one will look twice if you have the Bread Pudding for breakfast. It is that good! I have visited Jerome several times on my way to/from Flagstaff and farther north to the Grand Canyon and the Navajo Reservation, and loved my time there. The Flatiron Cafe is always one of my first and last stops, as it begins to feel like home after a while. It is a way station symbolizing a place where energy and spirit can be gathered before or after a long journey. Thank you other Yelpers for turning me on to the Flat upstairs. I have not stayed there yet, but I intend to the next time I am in town. It will be great to go down for breakfast in my PJ's and slippers and really treat the Flatiron as my living room, as I imagine the copper miners visiting the bordellos that thrived around the corner. read more

Who would expect to find amazing coffee in an old copper mining town? This place brews some great joe - and if you have some time to sit and linger - go for the brew-to-order top fill (I think that's what the barista called it) method and pick what sort of coffee you're into. The service was incredibly sincere and nice - the bread pudding looked amazing, but we just went for a bagel and that was fresh, toasted perfectly and satisfying. And to top that off, it's in a charming triangle space in the heart of Jerome. read more

A must-visit place when you go to Jerome. "Gourmet" gets thrown around way more than it deserves to, but their food is definitely that well thought out. I worked in Jerome for over three years and there was no other restaurant I frequented as much as the Flatiron Café. It is a small space - but with a very fitting ambiance for Jerome (an old mining town on the side of a mountain). As well, they have patio space across the street for those busier moments when more space is needed - or simply if you prefer dining outdoors. The food here is delicious - especially the Roast Beef and Capacolla sandwiches - both of which are full of flavor - not in the least bit bland. I also enjoy the Chicken Quesadilla because of the excellent pesto sauce that it is topped with. The soup creations are almost always "spot on" and very unique. They also have various breads that are very good indeed. Thank you Yelp! After reading all the reviews about the bread pudding, the boyfriend and I decided to check it out for ourselves. O.M.G. you guys were right! It's really really really good! If I hadn't just eaten lunch I would have ordered more food based on the awesomeness of the bread pudding alone. Not sure if they ever change it up but what we had was white chocolate cherry served with some kind of creamy boozy (i think, at least it tasted boozy) sauce on the side. The sauce was so good boyfriend actually drank what was leftover! The restaurant itself is tiny but charming. They have 3 tables and a few stools at the counter. Very cozy and comfortable. The two women working behind the counter were friendly as well. For all the times we've been to Jerome I can't believe we never stumbled in here before. We will be adding the bread pudding to our Jerome-must-haves list for sure. read more

I know it's a tradition people goes to Hunted Hamburger when they're in Jerome. But this place from the people to the food were AWESOME! It's not a huge place, but we were luck to get the last four bar stood. The coffee is 'ridiculous awesome' coming from the guy that works there. And he was right. The coffee was smooth and ridiculous awesome. They steam the eggs for the breakfast menu, healthy and good. Breakfast burrito was baked with bubbly melted cheese on top. Who can ask for more? Flat: Super clean, super friendly, very comfortable, coffee, fridge, everything you need. Walking distance to all attractions. Compared to other BBs and hotels this is a steal!!!! Cozy little nook. Came here for a nice breakfast while walking around in Jerome. We had the breakfast sandwich and the yogurt parfait.

The service was very good. The menu is small, so maybe not the best place if you're picky like me. The cafe sits on a really large hill (as does the whole city of Jerome), so the seating is a little wonky... I couldn't get a chair that didn't lean one way or another.
