Very chill ambiance with attentive waiting staff. The lobster puff were great only change would be for a thinner batter as they were not very crunchy but had great flavor. Shishito peppers were decent not the best I've had. The rolls and the short rib were all fantastic though. I was very impressed by the short ribs which were marinated and grilled perfectly. Definitely would come back again! read more

I've been going to The Fish in Midtown for over a decade. Although the restaurant is not as busy as they used to be, they have never failed to impress me. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. The service here is always amazing and consistent, and the same goes for their delicious food. Every time I go here, I always have to get the Dynamite Shrimps. They're so flavor-packed and have just the right amount of spiciness, the perfect amount for an appetizer. The Grilled Salmon is my go-to entree; the brussel sprouts that come with it are perfectly seasoned, crispy, and delicious. Instead of the arugula salad that comes with it, I like to substitute it for white rice. I also recently tried their Salt and Pepper Catfish, which was also perfectly seasoned and crispy. I didn't order these during my last visit, but some of my other favorite dishes include their Blue Crab Fried Rice, BBQ Short Ribs, Volcano Roll, and many more. read more

Came in on a Sunday evening with my niece who's 2, everything was really great. The food and my drink took some time to come out, not sure why because it was really slow with about 9 people being here, with lots of crew. they offered me a coloring page for her, which was so nice of them, and it help lol! The food wasn't bad, but not great to the point that I would say delicious, Overall I'd go back and try more items. read more

I decided to try this place after my girlfriend told me she'd been going here for years. Thr decor is very nice, fancy but still comfortable. Service was fast and friendly as well. We started off with the dynamite shrimp, which came with a generous order of battered shrimp in their dynamite sauce. The flavor was fantastic, although I wish the batter stayed crispy for longer. I went with the salt and pepper catfish for my main entree. The catfish had an amazing texture with just the right amount of kick and flavor from the szechuan peppercorn. Crispy exterior with a light and delicate fish inside with no fishy aftertaste at all. I'll be coming back to try some of their sushi rolls and other fish options in the future. read more

Came on a Friday night near closing time and probably won't do that again.. didn't feel very welcoming and definitely felt rushed. The only day they also don't have HH and that's lowkey why I went. Very dimly lit in there, but such a cute vibe. Will return to try out their HH (regular or reversed) Dynamite shrimp-- 7/10 Pork gyozas-- 8/10 Beef ribeye roll-- very different 8/10 Lychee martini -- 10/10 read more

We were a little munchy hungry and decided to stop in for a bite and a cocktail before heading back to our hotel. The staff was nice and the seafood was fresh and delicious. Overall cute place for good sushi. read more

Thoroughly enjoyed this place. They have lots of sushi options and plenty of options for those that don't do raw sushi. So everyone was satisfied! Our server was also really nice and had lots of suggestions. Was also very personable and accommodated us well with a birthday cake. I got to try a couple of different appetizers - the edamame and the beef ribeye rolls. The edamame came out warm with just the right amount of salt. And the beef rolls weren't bad! Think thinly cut steak shaped like an egg roll cut in half. Interesting take on an egg roll! I had the millennium roll, which was great! The pepper tuna on top along with the avocado was perfect. I also tried some of the fish roll - so good with the strawberries and three different proteins and with the dried jalapeño on top... A lot happening, but all flavors that go well together! I'll have to try that as my main dish next time! Love this place and would highly recommend if you like sushi and especially if you have those in your party who don't do raw. I hope to go back at some point! read more

This restaurant had happy hour ALL Sunday! My wife and I truly left happy! All of the food tasted great, and my favorite drink was the cucumber margarita. We ate plenty, and the bill was still under $80. It was a perfect ad hoc date night. We booked a reservation through the Resy app, but I don't think you must have a reservation. read more

Back again and still super tasty! Their happy hour is a great deal with both sushi and small plate deals. They have a reverse happy hour if your a night owl or want to hang around on a Sunday. They have daily specific deals, so check those out too. The sushi and fish taste fresh and you can tell care is taken to make their dishes. The place is cute and if you score a booth/table against the window, it's great for people watching. read more

This place is really nice and spacious. They offer indoor or outdoor dining. My friend and I opted to sit at the bar. I ordered the miso soup, shrimp tempura roll, spicy edamame, and the yellowtail Crudo. Everything tasted well and fresh. Only con, I wasn't a huge fan of the toppings on the yellowtail Crudo. The Lychee martini was my favorite! It was made well and on the spot. It wasn't pre-made like some of the local spots in Houston. I also tried the lemon drop but it wasn't as great as the Lychee. Overall, both the food and Service was great . They do have televisions in the restaurant however, during that time, the television service was not working. FYI- Sundays are all day happy hour! read more

For date night my lady wanted Sushi, so we found this delightful Midtown establishment. We started with Edemame and Lobster Crab Puffs. The Edemame was nicely seasoned and the Crab Puffs were a taste extravaganza. Our waitress Cassandra suggested a couple of rolls that we enjoyed completely and the Manager/Bartender created a delightful cocktail that was very special. We also tried a couple of "Appertini's" he shared while informing us of an upcoming Thursday that will feature them. The service was excellent, the environment conducive to romance and conversation. Above all the food was top quality and bursting with flavor. I highly reccomend you try this restaurant and don't be afraid to ask for menu reccomendstions. Highly recommend reservations. This is a good date spot. The music is lighthearted and the atmosphere is romantic. Our server Andy was amazing. He was very attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. He offered great recommendations. We started with a few appetizers. The Rocket Combo was delicious (bbq short ribs, dynamite shrimp and blue crab fried rice). The Brussel Sprouts had a great flavor to them. My friends enjoyed the ordered the wontons. I ordered the Yuzu shrimp and noodles entree. This dish was absolutely amazing. The udon noodles drenched in kombu cream with thick juicy shrimp and nicely textured bok choy was delightful. Our table ordered a large amount of sushi. We tried the Tiger Eye, California Snow Crab, Mango Salmon Roll, Spiro, Black Widow and HTX roll. Every dish was artfully plated. We vigorously ate most of the sushi. It was so delicious. The only thing I wish was different was the dinner table sizes. For the amount of food we got, there was barely any room on the table. Our dishes were having to be removed as soon as we ate them to make more room. My friends ordered cocktails and they were very pleased with the presentation as well as the taste. Top tier restaurant. read more

Once the "it" sushi spot and pre-game stop for a night on the town, The Fish has been open for some 20+ years. And there are endless sushi restaurant options in Houston featuring award-winning chefs, as well as wallet-friendly options... and that's okay! What sets The Fish apart from the others is it's longevity in Houston, and... they still offer late-night sushi in a lively atmosphere. I mean, who doesn't love a live DJ paired with their sashimi? We mainly go to The Fish for the late night sushi. Post-COVID, everything closes early, so The Fish is our spot. Thursday-Saturday, they're open til Midnight! The rest of the week, it varies from 10-11pm. (Call for hours). Service is always good, the manager *always* checks in... no complaints! I came her with my wife and daughter on a Saturday at 6 pm. There were only a few other tables in the restaurant. The food was decent but the service was bad. The waiter took forever to get to our table and was inattentive at best. To top it off, they added an automatic 20% gratuity. Which is ridiculous for a party of 3. And also explains why the server was not concerned. There are much sushi places in the city. I will not be returning. read more

This spot has lived rent free in my mind for about 6 years. I couldn't remember the exact name of the space for nothing lol. I came for the wings. Stayed for the bbq beef. This place is pretty pricey and the music is reminiscent of the early 2000's hip hop. I felt targeted and marketed too lol. Targeted to by the music because it's really pricy for some Chicken wings man. I don't have any pictures read more

Do you like dog food? I'm appalled at how fast this restaurant has gone downhill. This place had to change ownership because the quality of the food is nowhere near what it used to be. I'm literally in shock as I'm typing this. The menu has completely changed and the sushi had a fishy smell. I would rather eat airport sushi than eat here. I finally got a chance to stop by. I initially wanted to go because of a House music DJ that would spin there from time to time so I said what the heck sushi and good music. What a winner!!! Well the night we went there was no DJ but it was a great evening so we sat outside and people watched and had some good sushi. Our servers name is sadly forgotten but they did a great job on tending to me and my guest. I forgot the name of 1/2 the rolls that I tried. I know one was the volcano roll and I had some salmon belly. But each dish that we did have was fresh and good. I just hope that next time I come they'll be spinning some tunes..... read more

Overall Great Customer Service! We enjoyed the delicious food & even the manager himself accommodated our food. Will forsure come Back!

I went on a Friday night, restaurant was popping but service was just OK. Service was kinda confusing regarding if we had a primary waiter or not, but other staff made sure water was filled & food came out timely. Food was bomb! Got the Black Widow and the Fish (both pictured). Both had good flavors, Black Widow had a god crunch and seemed like your standard roll. The Fish had more of a combo of flavors with the strawberry and candied jalapeño that added a little kick to each bite. We also got drinks (old fashioned & a spicy mango cocktail) which were both yummy. They had a nice full bar so lots of drink options. All in all, great place to pop in for a quick bite & drink that won't disappoint you read more

Me and my family got to Houston from Las Vegas on a stormy evening. The Fish was close to our motel and was open late so we decided to give it a try and got a pleasant surprise. Service, food quality and atmosphere are all 10/10. We ordered Midtown Roll, Shrimp Udon noodle, Dynamite Shrimp and Lycheetini. Shrimp was very fresh with subtle flavors. Sushi was the right size with not much rice. For desert we had cheesecake and crème brûlée and they were amazing. This dish was okay. I wish I had seen a photo of it before I ordered, but I scrolled for quite a while and did not see one. The chicken was seasoned well and friend with a crispy coating. I wish they offered brown rice instead of only steamed white rice. I also feel like the quality/healthiness of the veggies was dimisnished by being fried in the tempura. I thought this was a saucy dish. I was in between ordering this and the curry and probably should have went with the curry. read more

Went on a Sunday night place wasn't too busy. Ambiance was nice and music was serene. My date wanted sushi so I found a place that had gluten free options sadly I never received their gluten free menu the entire time I was there and had to keep looking back to my phone to decide what to order in conjunction with their large menu. Overall my roll was great, service was awful as we barely saw our waiter (saw the bus boy more) the one drink I wanted I couldn't have due to their frozen drink machine breaking down. We were asked if we still wanted the drink but would have to pay for it we declined however one very slushee like drink was brought over anyway they were nice enough to comp it! Can't say that'd I'd go back for a $20+ sushi roll and less than stellar service coming from someone who worked in the service industry their whole life it's missing the mark there. read more

My date and I were looking to explore either a seafood or sushi restaurant, and we killed two birds with one stone! Found the fish on the Open app and it was a good find. We were not on time for our reservation, but I was contacted and and was graciously moved back 15 minutes without interruption. It was not very busy...quiet and moderately lit. Victoria was our server and he was great with suggestions, presenting the options and making sure that our water glasses stayed topped off. The lobster egg rolls were the best items that I tried, and mad that did not get more, because they were excellent! My date had the lobster maki rolls and I had the salmon poke bowl. The rolls were fire (LITERALLY)...the came out flaming! My poke bowl was fresh and very tasty. I recommend this place as a low key first date spot with its ambiance read more

Yoooo, this is one of the new favorite sushi spots. I don't know how I've never been here but I'm glad I'm finally on to it. My man and I came in for lunch one Wednesday afternoon, real calm environment. Right away I knew we had to order the Blue Crab Fried Rice and Chicken Wings to start. The Blue Crab Fried Rice is a HIT. Please order this for yourself or the table, everyone will love it. Crave it even. Too good, squeeze that lemon pon the top and eat up. Then the chicken wing, mmm mm mmmm. Normally I don't order chicken wings when I'm in the mood for sushi BUT I had to make an exception. They looked to good to pass up and thank goodness we didn't. That chicken wing is SO crispy and flavorful. It was so good, it had my man reminiscing about his childhood chicken spot back in SA. Must try. Has a nice kick too. Moving on to the sushi, and it gets even better. We ordered the: Spiro Roll - spicy tuna, cucumber, topped with salmon, avocado, house spicy sauce Okay this roll was a basic choice. We love tuna and avocado so we figured if anything we'll love this roll...lol jokes on us, we actually didn't like this roll at all. Ended up being a little to basic and I didn't care for the house spicy sauce Midtown Roll - cilantro, snow crab, jalapeño, onion, topped with avocado, baked chopped scallops, sriracha, house marinade, candied garlic, lotus root chip SOOOO GOOOD. I did not expect this roll to be this good but it was off the chain. Try it even with the little chip on top, every bite is so good. The baked scallops and the cilantro, great mix. I almost told the server to take out the candied garlic too cause that didn't make sense to me at first but it was a great touch. Love this roll. I've already been back twice to get it and that blue crab fried rice. Please check out The Fish. And the weekends it seems to be pretty packed but they sit fairly quickly. Also have the option of sitting outside on the patio. read more
