We recently hired Mike and his sons to do flooring in our living room and entryway. We went from tile and carpet to engineered hardwood. They did a great job and were extremely professional. Mike provided samples that checked all of our boxes as far as affordability and specifications. We initially wanted LVP but decided to go with engineered hardwood due to our toddlers severe eczema and allergies. We indicated that we wanted moderately crunchy/healthy certifications with regard to the flooring type and he exceeded our expectations with a flooring we could afford that also had certifications / compliance for low VOCs, Carb II, floor score, Lacey Act, durability etc. Mike was very accommodating throughout the installation process and we appreciate how much he kept in contact with us. We had our floors and staircases refinished. They were the original hardwood from the 70s and had been stained a dark brown color with a shiny finish. We were debating refinishing them vs. replacing it to get a lighter color. We decided to go with refinishing after our consultation with them. For the consultation: Michael really spent time explaining our options when they did the initial consultation. He was clear about any limitations and steered us away from things that wouldn't look as nice with some of the more unique aspects of the house (like our floating staircase). He was also clear about what the final color would look like, even though it was different than what we initially had in mind. By the time they started the work, we had a really clear idea of what was going to be done and what the final outcome would be. We also appreciated that their quote was very clear and itemized. We had no surprises. Pricing was very fair too - comparable to other vendor quotes we got with more confidence that they itemized everything we'd need. The job: They were able to start quickly and got everything done before move in, just on time with what they estimated. Throughout the job, their communication was great. They let us know which days to coordinate our move in logistics. They double checked on the swatches of staining/finishing options with us. They made recommendations on some of the finer details, like base boards and carpet trims without being pushy. You can tell they really care about your home looking as good as it can. Recently purchased a new to me home with engineered wood floors. Unfortunately on one of the dining room chairs the protector on the leg came off, and before we noticed there were multiple obvious scratches on the floor. The house didn't come with any extra floor boards to swap out. I thought this would be permanently damaged and unsightly, because engineered wood floors can't be sanded and refinished like hardwood. Mike and his son went the extra mile and worked with me to repair the damage to the maximum extent possible. Mike asked his son to take this on. His son is a true artist, and managed to blend in patch materials and colors that now at a regular viewing angle the scratches are no longer visible, you pretty much have to be crouching on the floor to see them. Mike's son also replaced all the feet on the chairs with more durable ones so this won't happen again. With all the current rains, our laminate flooring was starting to buckle around exterior doors where moisture was more present. In addition, the last contractor glued down the flooring in some places which contributed to this buckling. Mike and his son came over and figured out what needed to be done to fix this. In less than two days the floor was better than brand new. They also floated some cement next to an addition that was added earlier which also fixed a very janky transition to our room. I just had to post a review for these guys. (Father and Son team) They were totally awesome. I had a relatively small repair job I needed to have done so I requested quotes through yelp from flooring installers in the area. I was somewhat disappointed when most of the responses I received were that they didn't do that kind of work. (More probable was the fact that they were just not interested in doing a small job.) But, then, I received a response from Michael (the father) from The Finishing Touch. He was out the next day to take a look at my job and explained exactly what he could do, and was very transparent in letting me know that it would probably not be a perfect fix, but that he should be able to get it to look close to what I had originally, but more importantly, be less likely to cause an injury. He quoted me a reasonable estimate for the job so I accepted and made an appointment for the work to be done a few days later. On the day of the appointment, Michael (the son), shows up to do the work. He arrived RIGHT ON TIME and got right to work. I watched him throughout the entire process and was confident that he was quite skilled and knew exactly what he was doing. Well, a couple hours later, he was done. I am VERY PLEASED with the job he did. I was also very happy that my final cost was very reasonable. Michael also did a great job of cleaning up the area he was working in after he was done. (See photos) After witnessing the awesome work done and the professionalism with which they conduct their business, I would not hesitate to use them again in the future when I am ready to redo our very old wood floors. Mike and son were great. They installed two rooms of vinyl tile for us and I was very impressed with the quality of their work. No corners cut (except the ones that needed to be) and they took their time ensuring a quality job. Mike performed a miracle for us! Our powder room toilet leaked and destroyed the hardwood floor about 2 inches around the toilet. It was a small area that caused a big problem. After many attempts to find someone who could replace the small, yet difficult repair, we just closed off the powder room, letting it sit for 2 years. Well, using hardwood in a powder room is not the smartest choice, but I do love the warm, elegant look it offers in our rather formal home, and decided to wait for a miracle. I saw Mike's beautiful work at a friend's home and we invited him to our house to provide a bid for installing new hardwood in our upstairs hall and bedrooms. During that visit, I showed the powder room to Mike, telling him I was thinking about ripping out the wood and replacing it with tile. Mike offered a great solution. He found some scrap hardwood in our garage from other hardwood floor projects. It was a perfect match and he fixed it beautifully so there is no evidence of the repair! We read the review about a missed appointment and no phone call that one individual had experienced. My husband and I have been reluctant to have our floors refinished until we found "The finishing Touch". He is not just amazing at his craft but worked hard and paid close attention to every last detail. He even did an additional small area that we had originally missed. Mike and his son Mike of The Finishing Touch are experts at their craft. In 2011 they installed new pre-finished oak flooring in our living room, dining room and study, after pulling up the previous wall-to-wall carpeting. They did a beautiful job on that project, and the floors still look brand new. The oak hardwood flooring in our family room and kitchen were installed over 30 years ago (by someone else) and were in desperate need of refinishing; so we again contacted Mike to do the work. Fortunately for us, he had just had a cancellation for this past week, so he was able to schedule our job in its place. The old floor showed much wear with black marks, scuffs, and pet stains; but in three days, Mike and son worked their magic and transformed the floor to its original glory. If anything, it looks better than when it was brand new! Before beginning work on the floor, the two Mikes very carefully moved two sofas, a dining set, and refrigerator outside to the deck and covered them for protection from the elements; remaining furnishings they moved to other inside areas. They meticulously sealed off the family room and kitchen so there would be no escaping sanding residue. When the floor was finished, they attached new felt glides before moving furniture back, reconnected the T.V. with its accompanying electronic components, and maneuvered the refrigerator back into place, re-hooking the ice maker. Everything was done professionally, on schedule, and for a fair price. To top it off, Mike is an extremely friendly person and a pleasure with whom to do business. Family run business...gotta love it! This review is way overdue...but now that my head is above water on my first home and "fixer upper"...it's time to give them their due! I called on what could be done about my rough "fixer upper floors" and had a visit with a quote...all in the same week! The following week the light sanding/sealing protection was done!
